December 5, 201014 yr And so, for the third week in a row, the best song entering the chart is an oldie following Hey Jude and Let It Be. I agree (except applied to Fairytale Of New York, not Creep) Afrojack is ahead on my personal chart but in terms of all-time quality, FONY is better Also, The Beginning is BEP's 6th album, not their 4th, but the first two didn't make the chart. It's their 4th album with their current line-up though (Fergie wasn't in the band until Elephunk)

December 5, 201014 yr As Rihanna has 3 Top 10 Hits this Week, I did some research. She's only the 6th Artist to achieve it. She's also the first Female to do so, since 1955. And only the 2nd Artist to have her 3 Top 10 Hits next to each other - Frankie Laine did it in the W/E 17th October 1953 Chart. ACTS WITH 3 - OR MORE - SIMULTANEOUS TOP 10 SINGLES This has been achieved by just 6 Acts - Vera Lynn, (1 Week), Frankie Laine, (8 Weeks), Ruby Murray, (4 Weeks), The Shadows, (1 Week), John Lennon, (5 Weeks), & Rihanna - 1 Week(?). Only Frankie Laine, has had as many as 4 Top 10 Hits at the same time - 3 times in 1953. The other 4 are:, Vera Lynn, (1952), Ruby Murray, (1955), Madonna, (1985), & Beyonce, (2008), Ruby Murray actually achieved it for 11 Weeks, in 1955. For 1 Week in March, that Year, she had 5 Hits in the Top 20. And she had 4 Top 20 Hits, in 2 other March 1955 Charts. Rihanna is also the first Artist, to have 3 Top 10 Hits next to each other, in the same Chart, since Frankie Laine, in the W/E 17th October 1953 Chart. He was at No.2, No.3, & No.4. So, Rihanna is only the 2nd Act to achieve that. @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ As 'Progress', by Take That has its 3rd Week at No.1, in the UK, I did some research regarding that. December 5, 201014 yr Author Thanks for that extra information. So Rihanna is the first living person to get three songs in the top ten for just over 50 years.
December 5, 201014 yr OCC said only 2 other acts have had 3 in the top 10 - I assume they're excluding Vera, Frankie and Ruby for being 'too old' (pre-1960)? The OCC chart archive only goes back to 1960 after all
December 5, 201014 yr Bray - The OCC got their Data from me. I made an error - I missed out Vera Lynn, & The Shadows. The error will be corrected, (on The OCC Site), tomorrow. (I hate making errors!). Edited December 5, 201014 yr by zeus555
December 5, 201014 yr Out of interest, how do you find out these chart facts? You must check the charts at lightning speed or something
December 5, 201014 yr I do not have a Data Base - I study Charts, & Chart Books - for hours. So, I compile my Lists etc. manually.
December 7, 201014 yr Chart trivia time :D This week 8 of the top 10 singles are at their peak (to date anyway, a few of them are likely to climb further in the coming weeks): 1 The X Factor Finalists 2010 - Heroes (peak #1) 2 Ellie Goulding - Your Song (peak #2) 3 Nicole Scherzinger - Poison (peak #3) 4 Olly Murs - Thinking Of Me (peak #4) 5 Far*East Movement feat. The Cataracs and Dev - Like A G6 (peak #5) 6 The Black Eyed Peas - The Time (The Dirty Bit) (peak #6) 7 Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World) (peak #1) 8 Rihanna feat. Drake - What's My Name? (peak #8) 9 David Guetta feat. Rihanna - Who's That Chick? (peak #9) 10 JLS - Love You More (peak #1) The last time as many as 8 songs in the top 10 were at their to-that-date peak was way back on week ending 4th October 2008, if you separate the 2008 run of Faith Hill's There You'll Be from its original run: 1 Kings Of Leon - Sex On Fire (peak #1) 2 Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl (peak #1) 3 Rihanna - Disturbia (peak #3) 4 The Pussycat Dolls - When I Grow Up (peak #3) 5 Iglu & Hartly - In This City (peak #5) 6 Gym Class Heroes feat. The-Dream - Cookie Jar (peak #6) 7 James Morrison - You Make It Real (peak #7) 8 Sugababes - Girls (peak #8*) 9 Ne-Yo - Miss Independent (peak #9**) 10 Faith Hill - There You'll Be (peak #10***) *Later climbed to #3 **Later climbed to #6 ***Originally peaked at #3 in 2001 If you don't separate the Faith Hill chart runs, this feat hasn't been achieved since 2005 at the very latest - my chart database only stretches back to 2006 at the moment and I can't find one single instance of it happening before. I wouldn't normally separate the runs, but I have for this example as I can't provide a more satisfactory answer. A little additional fact there :P Zeus, if you're still around, could you possibly look this up for me? As I say, I've manually checked through 2006-10 and this week is the only instance I can find of 8/10 of the top 10 being at their to-date peaks.
December 7, 201014 yr Bray - I can't find any further examples, than the ones that you have pointed out. I've looked at the Charts, 'manually', too.
December 7, 201014 yr It definitely happened in 1997 - at least twice, actually. w/e 19/04/1997 and w/e 06/09/1997... amusingly DJ Quicksilver was one of the 8 artists at their peak in both of them. I don't know whether this was the last time though, nor do I care enough to manually check through... EDIT: Actually after double-checking the 19/04 had nine as Shola Ama debuted at #7 but then peaked at #4 :o Edited December 7, 201014 yr by superbossanova
