Welcome, my glorious children. We have come to the time of the year whereby we all celebrate having had far too much time on our hands over the past fourteen months and nominate our favourite tracks from the contests XXI through XXX ;o

READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE YOU VOTE. I WILL PERSONALLY KNEECAP YOU IF YOU SEND ME AN INCORRECT SET OF NOMINATIONS.

  • This contest will take place over the next few weeks leading up to Christmas - one week for nominations, one week for semis, and one week for the final, the results of which will happen at some point around the 27th December.
  • There will be forty-two slots in the final of The Best of XXI-XXX, ten of which will be occupied by our ten winners! They are as follows:

Lorikeet XXI: The Dolly Rockers (remember them?) - Boys Will Be Boys

BaNG XXII: Ellie Goulding - Under the Sheets

Quotosibb XXIII: Marina and the Diamonds - Hollywood

    BaNG XXIV: Delphic - Doubt

Hendinia XXV: Roll Deep - Good Times

FSR Rontvia XXVI: Sheelah - Psycho

Kopečka XXVII: Eric Saade - It's Gonna Rain

Ashton XXVIII: Molly Sandén - Mitt Liv Är Mitt

Yuxhaaq XXIX: Zoe Badwi - Freefallin'

Hendinia XXX: Adele - Someone Like You (live)

  • Nominations will work as follows: as with every year, you are obliged to submit nominations for every contest you participated in if you are taking part in TBO (feel free to not participate, but any of your entries that make it to the final will be deducted 15 points for the sake of fairness), and you are heartily encouraged to submit nominations for contests you didn't participate in as well, although this is not compulsory.
  • You must have participated in at least one contest between XXI and XXX in order to participate in TBO.
  • DON'T submit nominations for either winning tracks, which autoqualify, or for your own tracks. You may not submit nominations for tracks which did not make the final of their contest, as there is a separate contest for non-qualifiers.
  • Nominations must take the following form - it is compulsory to submit nominations for your favourite five tracks from each contest you nominate in, but you can optionally nominate your favourite ten tracks from each contest. Nominations must take the following form and be ordered from 1 (favourite) to 10 (least favourite). Your top five nominations will receive 2 voting points, while your bottom 5 nominations (if you do send them) will receive a voting point each, and the rankings are required that we may use them in the possible event of needing tie-breakers. Following are sample nominations:

    BJSC XXI

01 - Tinnmark - Velvet - Come Into The Night [FAVOURITE]

    02 - Bhangra - Jade Ewen - I Had Him First (live)

03 - UnoShake - One Republic - All The Right Moves

    04 - Ben's Sanctuary - Madonna - It's So Cool

    05 - Angelicland - Flamboyant Bella - Get A Reaction

    06 - FSR Rontvia - Fabio Lendrum - Don't Wait For Me

07 - Sangria - Samsaya - ADHD (Love Me Not)

    08 - Torchwood - Le Kid - Telephone

    09 - Kingdom of Shadow - Get Far; H-Boogie - The Radio

    10 - Kopečka - Dollface - Miss Jamaica

In the above nominations, nominations 01-05 would receive two voting points but 10/9/8/7/6 points towards a tie-break total, while nominations 06-10 would receive one voting point but 5/4/3/2/1 points towards a tie-break total.

  • Nominations from each contest will work as follows: the four songs with the highest voting points in their respective contests will go through into four heats of 25 songs each, along with nine wild-cards selected from the remaining non-qualifiers, which will be selected on the basis of the highest tie-break points totals, but only one song per contest can get through on a wild-card - so, basically, the contest with the song with the lowest 'highest tie-break points' total will only have four qualifiers to the heat stage, whilst all the others will have five. This may sound a little complicated, but hopefully it will become obvious what I mean in time - it's the same wildcard system that was in play last year, except this year there are enough wildcards for every contest but one to get a look-in.
  • Now, you may ask - this is all very good, but something doesn't add up - how can we have four qualifiers from ten contests and nine wild cards, making 49 qualifiers, go into four heats of 25 songs each? Well, in order to promote inclusion, we've made it so that every nation which entered at least two contests between XXI and XXX will get an automatic entrant into the heat stages. This automatic entry will be the highest performing entry from each respective country over the past ten contests, as decided by placing (but points will tie-break if one nation managed to come 4th twice, for example). Every nation is guaranteed one entry, regardless of whether or not they qualify through the nominations above. If a nation's best performing entry qualifies through nominations, then the next best performing entry in that contest will receive a qualification place.
  • Obviously, with all this, it goes without saying that there will be no limits as to how many entries into the semi-finals/finals a country may have, as let's face it, some nations have had a frankly spectacular run over the past year while a select and unnamed few are yet to even send anything worthy of the infamous '11th vote' curse :heehee:
  • The heats stage to decide which entries will go into the final will begin after the conclusion of the nomination stage. The heats will feature 25 songs each, and from each of these 25 songs we will have eight qualifiers into a grand finale of the 40 best BJSC tracks of the last ten contests!
  • A list of all of the participants in the finals of XXI-XXX can be found HERE, while a list of YouTube links to all of the available recaps from XXI-XXX will be posted soon (unfortunately a few lax hosts didn't even manage to provide recaps, so you'll just have to do with the final threads in that case!)
  • Nominations are to be sent to me (Tyron) and you have until 4pm Monday 13th December to nominate! Nomination results will be announced that evening, although that date may be subject to change, and results could be the following evening depending on time constraints. The heats results will be announced at some point around the 20th of December, with final results around the 27th, and will be co-hosted by your gorgeous mods Tyron and Silas ;o The Rejects contest will run concomitantly with a time-frame to be announced within the next week, and will be hosted by Tom.
  • We know you have just the one week to nominate, but if you're willing to it would really be worth it to go over the contests and familiarise yourself with them - who knows, you might make a fantastic discovery!
Here's hoping I haven't forgotten anything - if I have, do remind me :drama: If you have any questions feel free to ask them in this thread, and also feel free to start nominating!

Oh, and how amazing is Christmas Drama? :drama:

I'll need to go with this through a fine tooth comb before nominating as this post and the new rules are still making me scratch my head a bit

Copy and paste fail:

You must have participated in at least one contest between XI and XX in order to participate in TBO.

Copy and paste fail: Fail fail:

I don't know what you're talking about :kink:

Anyway, new rules? The nomination procedure's exactly the same as it was last year...

Compiling my votes now, and reminded of the wonder that was Mutton Dressed As Lamb

'You bitch, you cow' etc... :D

Oh so we are co-hosting the final results now? :P

I'm definitely having at least two heats then :kink:

Doing this has made me realise two things;

1) XXII was far more epic than I remembered it being

2) I literally NEVER give my top points to the winning song!

So for the first set of voting we have to send our top 10 favourites from each of the contests this year?

Yes!

Or a top5. We'd prefer 10 if you can though.

I'll do this on Thursday probably.

I'm gonna be celebrating the end of uni tomorrow, and working on wed.

Can I get in on this? :kink:

Can I get in on this? :kink:

Don't you have a rejects contest to play with? :smoke:

:kink:

It might work with 3, but that might be a little over kill  Plus we couldn't include you without including Aaron too, and that would get messy.

Well if Aaron was like, actually here sometimes he might have a shot...

XXII was far more epic than I remembered it being

It was pretty good, but the one that seems INCREDIBLE as I'm going through it is XXV :o

XXII, XXIII, XXIV and XXV were all DIRE for one reason.

No Ashton in the final :kink:

But seriously, it's a complete crime i didn't qualify for XXII, XXIV and XXV

You know what, I actually meant XXVI :drama:

(Not sucking up to you. You know that, cos I hate most of your top 75 of the year :kink:)

My top75 is amazing and complete. You should comment on the final list :kink:

If only to see the sheer scale of Tone Damli Aaberge looning

3. Delta Goodrem - A Year Ago Today

4. Delta Goodrem - Not Me, Not I

5. Puretone - Stuck In A Groove

I do love Stuck In A Groove

I do love Stuck In A Groove

It was amazing :wub: Its #27 peak was the most criminal thing to happen that year :( Would you believe the song that came #6 in my EOY 2003, and spent FOUR weeks at #1 in my chart in March that year was this. THIS was the song that would have been my #1 of 2003 if not for Australian music. A #42 UK SMASH;

I really ought to have entered that into BJSC :kink:
