no, it's not number one in my chart, nor is any gaga song in existance. however, it is my favourite gaga song, and I think that the rest of her singles are very overrated here. it's just got something that her other singles don't have. not a normal video, because it has a very strange video.

here is my favourite single from ellie goulding. not my favourite song, but single. my favourite song from her is 'your biggest mistake' which sadly was not a single, but it certainly is a contender for song of the year. this is still brilliant electropop though, and her voice really works with her music. this song was what got me interested in her, as her buzz single 'under the sheets' is a lowlight of her album imo.

marina has been the grower of this year for me. once 'hollywood' grew on me, every other song by her had also grew on me. namely this. it's such a great indie-pop tune with an incredible chorus. if that wasn't enough, when the song was released as a single, it came alongside what I think is the best music video of this year. so much colours, and I love the influence of pop-art. :wub:

the second single from miss vickers makes a very high appearince in the chart. for a while, this actually was my favourite song of the year since I heard her album sampler, but eventually I decided I loved two other songs a bit more. anyways, this song is amazing. shame the video and the cover couldn't match up to it, or the chart position. it deserved so much more than it got. :(

so, now we just have the top 2 left. there may be someone out there interested in this, so yeah.

which song will be number 1? will it be the predictable song by diana vickers which I looned hysterically during release week? or will it be the brilliant comeback single from the ting tings which I also hyped for many months?

just falling out from the top spot is the comeback single from the ting tings. this single is just as good as most of the other ting tings singles, which defined 2008 for me, while also being more electropop which is certainly a good thing. the brilliant video, while being slightly out-of-the-ordinary, also helped my love for the song. I thought it'd do rather well in the uk chart, so once it flopped I was seriously disappointed, but I suppose it's just not hit material. in a way, it's stayed amazing by not being overplayed anyway. looking forward to their second album so much.

well I'm sure all of buzzjack would have been able to guess this, but yes, my favourite single of the year belongs to diana vickers. from the start of the year, I played the preview many many times in anticipaion from the premiere, and when I heard the full song for the first time, argh. so amazing. I loved her on the x factor, but even I didn't think she'd come out with something as brilliant as this. it was also excellent to see that she could hit the number 1 spot in the uk singles chart, just a shame that the rest of her chart performance was really disappointing. I'm so looking forward to her next album this year.
