Yeah exactly!!! Why delay releases when they are already available? Once Hold It Against Me premieres, it will be all over the net, if (and it probably will) the UK release doesn't happen for a few weeks, then most people will just downoad illegally to get a copy.

Well that means the same could be said for EVERY song? :lol:

Not sure I get what you're saying by "delayed" single releases but in my opinion it makes sense. The U.S. singles chart works a bit differently than most international charts which is pretty apparent. And you have to have a pretty good gap between single releases otherwise before you know it the album era is already over!

 

Plus I'd say singles are basically promoted to help out the albums sales, which matters most.

If the album is released in early March, that release date might be right. They might do something similar to the release of 'Womanizer' over here, release the download a few weeks earlier than release the physical a week before the album.

She'll be fine at this time of year to do that in the UK. The UK is so much different to the US and closer to the album date would benefit her more than further away from the album.

 

Anyway; Here's the main contenders schedule for the 2 weeks before and one week after (which could get released a week earlier etc...);

 

February 7

If she sticks to her release date (the blue section) she'll have no problem, whatsoever to get a Top 5 hit. Number 1 just depends on GaGa the week before in all honesty...

WOW. HUUUUGE promo for her if she DOES perform! :o I really hope she does some promotion this time round and not just one show here in the UK! 'Britains Got Talent' is on the Telly around the time of the album release I believe, so HOPEFULLY she can also get a slot on that!

I don't think GaGa is actually releasing the week before, because downloads are normally released on a Sunday, and the 13th is the day she's meant to be premiering it. Even if it is released then, it won't have had all the airplay that Britney will have.

 

'Britains Got Talent' is on the Telly around the time of the album release I believe, so HOPEFULLY she can also get a slot on that!

 

I think the BGT live shows are usually around May time? :unsure:

 

Ah yeah! :( But still. She should come back over and promote the second single! (Which will hopefully be a BALLAD! :angry:)

Outside of the US, single releases coincide more with the album release so February 20th definitely isn't a long shot. Like Aidan said, the album is out in March so it makes sense but that could just be the physical release.

 

And I definitely don't think she'll have competition from Lady GaGa. Her album is out in May so I would think the single wouldn't be released digitally until quite later on, except possibly in the US.

Why would she perform at the Brits? :huh:
