Take That and Plan B have been announced as the first acts to perform at next year's Brit awards.

The overhauled ceremony will take place at its new home, the O2, for the first time. The announcement caps a hugely successful few months for Take That, who recently welcomed Robbie Williams back into the band and broke records for ticket sales for their British tour.

The shortlist for the critics' choice award was also unveiled today. Made up entirely of London acts the three nominees are former Goldsmiths music student and electronic composer James Blake, Essex singer-songwriter Jessie J and indie band The Vaccines.

The result will be announced on December 15.

Changes to this year's ceremony include the move from Earls Court and new statuettes.

They will now have a different design every year, with Vivienne Westwood creating the first batch for the February 15 show.

Interesting line-up for the Critics' Choice. Don't think Jessie J has a chance against the other two though...I think The Vaccines will get it.
I'd absolutely love it if Jessie J got it  Would be nice to see them break away from the norm for the award for once as well.
I'm obviously hoping for James Blake to get the Critics' Choice award but I agree it will probably be The Vaccines. I think it's quite open this year though to be honest.
hopefully if the vaccines win it it will signal a move towards rock music in the charts again, ive had enough of the electronic rnb !!
I really hope Tinnie Tempah or Tinchy and Alexandra Burke get to perform this year, they have had stacks of hits. The BRITS need to start being more inclusive to all UK talent.

Plan B?

That's him winning 2 or 3 awards then

Plan B will inevitably win at least one, if i was to guess, it'd be for the album most likely.

The Outstanding Contribution Award has been scrapped, damn Depeche Mode will never get an award now. I actually feel this award should have been included as it recognises acts that have been in the music industry for a very long time.

Thats a shame - any reason why it has been scrapped?! I've always enjoyed seeing the winners.

It became a bit worthless eventually. No disrespect but giving Spice Girls (whom I actually liked in 1996  ) the award after four years surely suggested that the Brits panel were a bit clueless. So many other artists who have had a successful career with longevity (like Depeche Mode) snubbed in favour of "high profile" acts who didn't really deserve the award after just a few years. I remember some people being baffled when Duran Duran won the Outstanding Contribution Award but at least they were very popular/successful over a long period of time.

Is there anywhere take that DON'T appear at the minute?

I like some of Plan B songs, but performance wise I can't see it being really interesting at the Brits :(
