February 6, 201114 yr People on ESCtoday are going ape$h!t about this now. Apparently having only 33% public vote is "robbing people of their money"... if that's the case, then don't vote! :/ And may I stress that the "peoples' choice" hasn't really been the best over the last seven years! Anyway, each jury might favour different songs, leading to each song having a good opportunity of winning, so the public vote could very well determine who wins!
February 6, 201114 yr Would it be wrong to say I'm getting a slight drip drop vibe from Falling? Hmm.....not exactly complaining though. We need something sexy....oh and a great song too obviously. :P It's 'Drip Drop' but with somebody who can actually sing. :heehee:
February 6, 201114 yr Exactly, the public shouldn't complain. They'd send a pineapple to europe for the lulz if they could and then when the actual show comes around they'd be like: "Oh......shi" but it would be too late then.

If the song is good then juries will put it through. Will Jedward's 'fame' i'd not be surprised if they actually still got more votes with this deduction. Plus Jedward have huge advantage due to them being on the X-factor and stuff. All is fair.
February 6, 201114 yr I agree with both of you. The public have had their chances to pick the best song and most of the time they've chosen the worst. Don't really see how they can cry foul now that it is being addressed. You cannot actually trust people with televoting here. They said with Dustin "Ah sure, we're having a bit of fun. We don't care!" and then when he flopped people started blaming the East for everything gone wrong. Had they voted for the right song that year then I think we could've come top 10 in Belgrade. Although I like Jedward as people, anybody who thinks they'll "win" Eurovision is deluded. The songs are being aired on Thursday @ 3PM on Radio 1. I guess full versions will be on youtube by late-afternoon on Thursday. :w00t:
February 6, 201114 yr Exactly, the public are hypocrites. Sending Dustin all like "oh we don't care let's just take the p***" and then when it gets the result it rightfully deserves suddenly everybody cares... It's all fun and games at the time, but then in hindsight people are horrified.
February 6, 201114 yr Unless jedward pull of an amazing live performance on friday night i really cant see the juries going for them, i think nikki kavanagh has the best chance of going through at the moment and i think i would be happy with that, friday night will tell though. Im surprised with the 67/33% jury public vote but i dont mind either.

February 6, 201114 yr True, it seems unlikely  That said, Lipstick doesn't sound THAT bad. But Falling sounds AMAZEBALLS.
February 7, 201114 yr I'm getting a bit worried now, even though this rule change means Jedward will have a more difficult time getting through, that doesn't necessarily mean the judges will favour Falling over the other three songs. I have a feeling the judges might love Talking with Jennifer :( It's not a bad song, but Falling is much much better. It definitely looks better for Nikki though, however if she does make I'll be surprised. My favourites never make it. :( Edited February 7, 201114 yr by Sabrewulf
February 7, 201114 yr Astonishingly, based on the clips, I like all of the songs :o Of course that doesn't mean I'd be happy for any of them to win! Indeed, there's only one song I feel has a hope of any success in Dusseldorf... Bling - Shine On This is catchy enough and I like the orchestra, but it's incredibly dated (a couple of the band themselves are no spring chickens either!) and a little like a poor man's Robbie Williams song from the early 2000s. It's my least favourite, and seriously what kind of a name is Bling for a group? The Vard Sisters - Send Me An Angel Based on the short clip I really like this. It doesn't give much away in terms of whether it remains sombre or builds up; I'd be happy either way. However if Niamh couldn't do the business with an Irish ballad then the Vard Sisters won't either and if Ireland is going to insist on picking the same old formula again then they should pull out and be mutual observers for a while. Jedward - Lipstick I don't think I've ever heard a song more blatantly not written for the act performing it. Clearly a demo that was lying around rejected for ages. That being said it's catchy and it works in Jedward's favour by being incredibly easy to sing. There's only so much that they can screw this up vocally. Definite televote winner, and as for the whole thing, I suppose we'll see. Don Mescall - Talking With Jennifer Another one I really like, it's a very pleasant listen, and I can see me listening to the full song quite a bit. A bit like Beautiful World era Take That. Despite it being fairly obvious jury fodder, this surely must be the rank outsider, and just as well really because I can't see it doing a thing at Eurovision. Same potential audience as Cyprus last year, except without the youth in the performer. Nikki Kavanagh - Falling Here's where all the hardcore Eurofans breathe a sigh of relief! Nikki seems very competant vocally, and the song, well it may have been contemporary in 2007, but that's alright with me, I can live with that, it's a start. The only song in the selection with a chance of bettering Niamh's result from last year, and now that the voting is 1:2 public:juries this must be the frontrunner, since it will most likely finish 2nd with the public to Jedward. So, based on the clips, my favourites: 1. Nikki Kavanagh 2. The Vard Sisters 3. Don Mecall 4. Jedward 5. Bling I don't think any of them could really do top ten in Eurovision, but Nikki stands a fair chance of a respectable placing, and she's the only one who realistically could stop Jedward getting the title. Jedward do have an outside chance of doing not terribly at the contest, but for all the negative, lazy press it would bring both in Ireland and in the UK, it's really not worth it! From an Irish point of view, if Jedward were sent and failed, the backlash would be astounding, and from a UK point of view, can you imagine if Jedward went to Eurovision and did brilliantly, what we would be sending next year?? It almost doesn't bear thinking about!!
February 9, 201114 yr I would agree that Nikki Kavanagh stands the best chance of doing anything at eurovision and from the clips i heard i hope she wins euro song on friday night.
February 10, 201114 yr #1 Don Mescall - Talking with Jennifer This is very pleasant. Basically sounds like The Script but more mature. It does get stuck in your head, which is a good thing. Not a winner, and certainly not a qualifier. #2 Jedward - Lipstick The lyrics are absolutely awful and it's terribly repetitive, and ends quite abruptly! And I really can't see this sounding good live. The chorus is catchy, but that's the only thing that's good about this song. Strong contender due to loons, but nothing is certain!
February 10, 201114 yr Just tuned in. I was hoping that like previous years the first half hour would be just talking with a couple of last year's songs. But they've obviously on the ball this year so I've missed the first two! What did the panel think of them?
February 10, 201114 yr There isn't a panel this year, I don't think! Just some guy beside Mooney that I should know the name of. :heehee:
