Irelands odds seem to be improving and from the odds i have seen over the last few days on paddy power etc it seems Jedward are in with a chance of qualifying.

William Hill (I think it's William Hill) have Ireland and UK on the SAME odds for winning the final! 7/1! Now I never usually use web acronyms but... WTF???

Jesus thats even more shocking than the paddy power odds, you know in a way i wont be surprised if jedward do well, i loved the irish entries last year by niamh and the year before from sinead mulvey and black daisy and was sure both would do well and they didnt, this year i dont like jedward and said they would do crap so it will probably go the opposite way.

7/1 is a big jump for them and i just looked on paddy power now and ireland is 10/1 now.

That is really bizarre, Ireland are indeed now joint 2nd favourite...I don't know how much of this is 'the Jedward effect' and how much stock they're putting into rehearsal buzz but good GOD, if it managed to do a Verka and come 2nd in the final, it would be a dark day for the contest imo. Novelty would reign supreme once again next year :( But are they really expecting the juries to go for Lipstick? Let alone the televoters who would send this into rightful last place if the UK dared enter it!

Anyone else a little worried that this is a shoe-in for the UK top 40 next week?

I'm betting my bottom dollar UK will give 12 points to Ireland! They will pick up points elsewhere but, at the end of the day, they can't dance, they can't sing and this will be evident on the night. The eastern block will be thinking 'what the 'eck' and the jury voting will put a lid on the deux points! (famous last words... )

I once thought that the juries wouldn't "get" Lipstick... until they came second in the Jury vote in the national final.

I think the fact they are going down well in the media in germany is making more people put money on them, i still dont think they have a hope and hell of doing too great in the final and i would be shocked if they made the top 10 let alone top 2.

Semi final 1 had a few surprises as in who went through, maybe the over hype of ireland might result in a shock that they dont go through thursday nigh, but i think they will qualify now at this stage between the hype and the fact they are performing last. In the final i think the only thing that could sway them in doing well is another strong performance slot. Its hard to believe that jedward of all people though have managed to give ireland its best odds in quite a few years.

Never in a million years would I have expected Europe to like Jedward. Quite surprised with the performance and crowd reaction, and fair play to the boys getting through to the final. I don't care where we come now, just as long as we're there on saturday! :D
Ya, they got a huge response from the crowd which i didnt expect, and back when jedward were picked to represent Ireland i was 100% confident they wouldnt get out of the semi finals, so they have done well.

tbh I'm not that surprised that Europe likes Jedward more than Ireland/UK does (or seems to anyway)

Our judgement is clouded by the fact that we can't stand them so we think everyone else will think the same when really it was a clean slate for them more or less with many of the countries voting tonight.

For one thing they didn't have to endure the X Factor they were in...

It means nothing. The average person in the UK would have a punt the second they found out Jedward were entering...

sooo... i've come to the dark side

hated the official video but the actual performance was awesome

so i'm officially jumping on a bandwagon

I'm not even irish and I don't even like them but I've just watched their performance on youtube and it made me feel kinda proud! The song's catchy as hell and their performance was great. Plus I loved the stuff playing on the big screen

The backdrop to this is RATHER AMAZING.

And Jedward are back to #1 on Irish iTunes. #58 in Germany! #23 in Sweden! :cheer:

Rather upsettingly I'm COMING AROUND TO THIS.

I still dislike Jedward and won't be listening to it out of choice any time soon but I can't deny that it's one of the catchiest songs in the contest and that the performance is one of the highlights. Damn!

All this talk about who's going to have international hits out of the contest - early evidence suggests Jedward might be one act who will :o #15 in Sweden!

haha yeah, i feel in similar way. though i don't like or dislike Jedward cause it's the first i've heard of them.

but i can appreciate a good show. i will not be listening to this song or will not be seeking out their other stuff. it's not my cuppatea. but it's undeniably best use of stage and technical possibilities. by miles.

you have your simple stuff like a singer and some pretty pictures in behind in abundance, you have some attempt at tricks, screens and seizure inducing random stuff blinking behind... wind machines and pyrotechnics are getting old. and don't get me started on the sheer creepiness of Blue's screens...

whoever staged the song and orchestrated the screens for Jedward though is a genius. head and shoulders above the rest.

1.68m viewers in Ireland watched the semifinal last night. That's a third of the country! :o
