May 11, 201312 yr I don't know where you've heard that but it probably means he'll regenerate in the next series. Anyway, Carey Mulligan is too busy in Hollywood to ever come back. --- Companion Top 5: 1: Sarah Jane 2: Donna 3: Jo 4: Rose 5: Leela Martha had potential but I think she suffered from the Doctor missing Rose too much. Amy would probably be in the top 10 somewhere.
May 11, 201312 yr Back in Season 8 but not in all of the episodes, how is that going to work, when the Dr. is the centre of the whole TV series, than again they could be bring Sally Sparrow back  for a few episodes. Do you have a source that says he won't be in all of the episodes? If that's true, we should start hearing rumours galore/final confirmation about the new Doctor by the end of this year.
May 11, 201312 yr my favourite companions? Ben & Polly, Victoria and especially Jamie & Zoe loved them. Sarah-Jane, Leela, RomanaI. Rose was marvellous, Martha good, Amy n Rory fab, but against all expectations I really think Donna is the only one to rival Jamie & Zoe in my affections. catherine Tate managed to make me shed a few tears and laugh quite a lot. Who woulda thought it, Spaceman...
May 11, 201312 yr I'm not really big on the old companions having only watching a handful of original episodes but of the new batch I like them all really. Except that utterly ABYSMAL WASTE OF SPERM AND OXYGEN Martha.
May 11, 201312 yr Except that utterly ABYSMAL WASTE OF SPERM AND OXYGEN Martha. :cheer: Don't understand how people can stand to watch her.
May 11, 201312 yr So basically they reinvented The Cybermen as The Borg. Could be worse I guess. Overall it was a solid episode, started off badly and the kids remained atrocious throughout (especially the boy who cannot act at all) but got good in the middle and was brilliant by the end. LOVED Matt being given some really good stuff to work with again this week, his accent work is great and he just shone so brightly with all the Dr/Cyber planner to-ing and fro-ing. Loved Warwick too and even if the reveal was totally obvious it was still nice to watch and I like his proposal to Clara. Again though I felt like the episode could have been MORE with a tighter script. Lots of individual scenes were great and there were lots of funny bit (seriously proper LOL'd when the doctor quoted 'just using the local resources' back at him) but the execution was lacking somewhat again overall.

If that's true, we should start hearing rumours galore/final confirmation about the new Doctor by the end of this year. I was meant to quote Theo's post on page 48, somehow that didn't work. I think we know more after the special episode later in the year.
May 11, 201312 yr OH MY FUCKING GOD. NEXT WEEK'S LOOKS EPIC. Watch the TV trailer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p018wghc "I'm Clara Oswald, and I was born to save the Doctor." Also, we're definitely going to find out who Clara is (or at least the Doctor is going to find out). Watch the prequel for The Name of the Doctor: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p018wbj2 I actually can't wait, looks like one of Moffat's most exciting and FABULOUS finales to date! Eek! :D On tonight's episode, though... It was a very good episode overall. I loved that Clara was put in charge of the situation when the Doctor went off to find the children, and she was a really good leader (she could lead me any day!). Glad the children weren't used too much, and it didn't feel too CBBC-like with them on board the TARDIS. The new Cybermen looked fantastic, and they had some fabulous techniques, although it felt as if they were undefeatable, and the only way you could banish them is by exploding them, or where they are. The scene(s) with the Doctor and the 'Cyber Doctor' arguing both physically and mentally dragged on for quite a bit (especially when the Doctor was in the Cyber Tomb), but when it got to the pair of them playing Chess in the castle, it was really exciting and dramatic. Yet again, though, it seemed the sonic screwdriver had rather major involvement in how the story itself was concluded, which was disappointing. Overall, a fantastic episode. NEXT WEEK, THO. OMFG, gonna be AMAZING.

Lots of individual scenes were great and there were lots of funny bit (seriously proper LOL'd when the doctor quoted 'just using the local resources' back at him) but the execution was lacking somewhat again overall. The Borg will always owe more to the Cybermen than the Cybermen ever will to The Borg. Matt Smith was brilliant again but everything thing else was dull and pointless. I know let's resurrect 3 million Cybermen and then wipe them all out again. Yawn. Laziest, cheapest use if 'the reset button' imaginable. I love the Cybermen but they have become crap. Oh I did like the 'Cybermites' though.
May 11, 201312 yr Well yes, it's undoubtedly true that The Borg owe a lot to them but I've always felt they were noticeably different via adapting to technology/situations and the whole integrated 'cloud' consciousness etc. but now Cybermen have all that too, it feels a touch odd. I realise the last few pages make it sounds like all I do is MOAN, but it's mainly down to the frustration I feel by seeing what is so clearly a good idea not being executed properly.
May 11, 201312 yr Author I really enjoyed it! The children (male at least) were undeniably weak, so I echo that it was good that they were kept to a minimum. Clara was excellent, and I particularly loved her scenes with Tamzin Outhwaite. I'd have liked to have seen a more complex conclusion, but I liked that there was an actual real threat, so in that way it was an improvement on a lot of the series so far. Next week's looks a-mazing! The prequel pretty much confirms that we find out who both The Doctor and Clara are to each other: mtaIpkjF6Ss The TV trailer is great too - Clara looks so much like Mila Kunis at one point, I thought she was a different actress!

May 11, 201312 yr Don't suppose any of you post on the Digital Spy Doctor Who forums? if so and you've posted in the main episode thread, you may find yourself as subject of the research project for my course! :D which means I have to look through the whole thread...they really do moan a lot don't they? :/ I will post my thoughts on this when I've seen it, not looking forward to the two kids if the comments are anything to go by.
May 11, 201312 yr not looking forward to the two kids if the comments are anything to go by. Luckily they weren't used an awful lot, but some moments that they were involved in (especially Artie) were rather cringey.
May 11, 201312 yr I was more disappointed by Neil gaiman's script showing the Doctor in such a bad light regarding the kids. Ignoring the fact the girl was obnoxious and an accident waiting to happen, but Social services would have charged The Doctor with child endangerment! Not only does he run off with them (without parental permission) he places them into a future world clearly hazardous, and then leaves them on their own with Cybermen and unknown soldiers with weapons wandering about! Saying "No-one hurts the children" afterwards is no excuse when they were already part-cybermen...! Clara's sudden military expertise was also mad.... next week's looks fab though...:)

Clara's sudden military expertise was also mad.... next week's looks fab though...:) It's fiction... When he has a time machine, he doesn't need to get parental permission, because he can take them back home to when they were taken, and the parents wouldn't notice.
May 12, 201312 yr Plus the children at the time were left in Clara's care and she was there with them.
May 12, 201312 yr Plus the children at the time were left in Clara's care and she was there with them. yes, she ran off and left them on their own at night too. Not very good at looking after children apparently, lets them blackmail her then runs off and has an adventure and nearly gets them killed. Blatant plothole problem: why not leave them safe in the tardis....? It might be fiction but a good writer should be able to sort out illogical plotting (and neil gaiman is a good writer so no letting off the hook from me:)
