I don't know what they've said in the past but this is how the Radio Times website describes next Sunday's Chart Show

"The DJ [scott Mills] sits in for Reggie Yates, counting down the week's best-selling singles, the top 20 albums, top 10 downloads and previews of new releases."

So, either they've got it wrong or there's going to be a bit of a revamp.

If Scott is counting the best selling singles this weekend than he is a week out, they are forgetting the sales from Sunday onwards, there is still 6 days to add for the year.

I think they got it wrong.

It doesn't say anything about a yearly chart. It says "the week's best selling singles" It has the same description for the following week.

ooops I read it as Year's best selling

Probably Radio Times copied the same description for the week after

And the singles are very silling :heehee:

The Sunday after next would be 02/01/11 so perhaps this will be when they countdown the top 40 biggest selling singles of 2010?

That's when they do 2 charts in one show & miss half of them out.

Join Jason Scott, for the top 50 of 2010 on the 2nd at 4pm via theSuperstation http://thesuperstation.info

I hope it is true that Capital Radio go National next year.I am sure it will further cut into R1s falling listener figures and it might make those in charge produce a proper chart show.I am sure at one point the chartshow was one of the flagship shows that was popular, well produced and well researched.

No, on 02/01/11 they're counting down the UK's Official Top 100 Downloads of All Time - obviously IGF is number one, but it'll still be very interesting.

Capital will be some what National next year, but it just means more buy outs & the loss of more Local Radio. It won't really have any effect on R1, as R1 is aimed at teenagers. Don't expect R1 to return to the Chart Shows, like they used to produce. The Top 40 is aimed at those that actually buy these "so called" hits. And they are 90% of 12 to 25 year olds. The singles chart has a really small audience anyhow, when compared to the 15million that used to listen in the 1967-84 period, which was the hey day of R1. 1.5million now listen to Reggie Yates, over 2million listen to the Big Top 40. So, where have 11million gone? I think they've just grown up, & realise Capital & Radio 1 are pretty naff, along with the songs that go with it. The mentality of these people that listen is pretty low. All you've got is the nutcases that think anything to do with X Factor & charity are great, along with others that think Rihanna has a great voice. Not only are they daft, they actually reply to Yates requests to text in & tell him what they think is going to be number one...If they had any sense, they'd already know, as it's plastered all over the net all week! It's a waste of time complaining about either station, because they don't listen to the average person. Just listen to something else. Future radio lies on the Internet, probably as entertainment in general, not by worn out stations that should've been closed down years ago.

Oh it was. In the days of Bruno Brooks and Mark Goodier, I listened to the Radio 1 Top 40 every Sunday without fail - it really was the best three hours of radio back in the early/mid 90s.

reggie annoys me so much!

tbh, i really dont think the chart show shud be 3 hours long...i wud just rather have a one hour show, where the top 40 - 11 are announced straight away, and then the the top 10 are played out until the end...its absolutely ridiculous the amount of time he spends chatting away - BORING!

I calculate that playing all 40 songs would take ~2.5 hours, still leaving 1/2 hr for other stuff.

Don't forget the links between the songs. Bruno used to have time to either play last week's top 3 in full at the beginning of the show or 3 album tracks
