December 24, 201014 yr Not much happening this week. Third week at #1 for Firework but Grenade sold more last week so it might challenge Katy next week. 12th Top 10 hit for Lil Wayne. He has two #1's: Lollipop with Static Major (d. 2008) and Down with Jay Sean (2009). 'Higher' is the fourth hit for Taio Cruz and features Travie McCoy instead of Kylie. Don't ask why. McCoy is not that popular in the US either. 'Hold My Hand' reached its peak. Third Hot 100 hit for The Script. 'Breakeven' was huge success in airplay and peaked #12 on Hot 100. December 24, 201014 yr Hooray for Keri! Go get that Top 40 smash! :D Also, 25 weeks for OneRepublic, 'Secrets'! WOW. What's the chart run for this? Shame it couldn't do big things here :(
December 24, 201014 yr Go Mariah, get that #100 SMASH. I guess it doesn't matter seeing as we all know 'Auld Lang Syne' is going to be a charttopper.
December 24, 201014 yr Katy Perry - Firework #1 for the 3rd week :o she's on fire this year!! all 3 single's #1 and the album #1 pretty amazing that

December 24, 201014 yr Katy Perry's Firework is the US Christmas number 1! :D I love that song! Grenade for next week's number 1!
December 25, 201014 yr it's weird that Taio Cruz decided to feature a one hit wonder for his hit 'Higher' instead of the international pop icon Kylie... maybe he wants to be relevant in the US, it's really stupid. he should've helped Kylie score her 8th top 100 hit there.
December 25, 201014 yr great to see Michael reaching the US top 40 for the first time since 2001.

Why is that weird/stupid at all? Take off the loon glasses - Kylie's seen as an 80s relic who made a flash in the pan comeback nine years ago in America. Travie McCoy is a current and marketable artist over there (a bit soon to call him a one hit wonder given he hasn't released a proper second single yet) - there's no reason why he 'should've' helped Kylie get another hit there. Singles are for him to be successful, not for the featuring artists to be successful.

Taio has already scored 2 bigger hits in the US, so he doesn't need Travie to get another hit, and i think that 'Higher' would be a huge hit in the US whether Travie is included or not, so why not include someone who needs another shot at success in America like Kylie who already has a big fanbase there?
December 26, 201014 yr Yea I don't see why Travie in particular would help Higher...In airplay probably a bit but can't see any impact in sales tbh. Kylie's Aphrodite has sold more than Travie's album btw. Edited December 26, 201014 yr by SKOB
December 26, 201014 yr yes, but still Kylie is an international pop star icon who has sold more than 70 million records, while Travie McCoy is , until now, only known for his top 5 hit 'Billionaire'. If she has such a huge fanbase over there, why does she need another shot at success? Surely the newer and more marketable artist makes far more sense to 'help'?
December 29, 201014 yr yes, but still Kylie is an international pop star icon who has sold more than 70 million records, while Travie McCoy is , until now, only known for his top 5 hit 'Billionaire'. I'm pretty sure 'Cupid's Chokehold', 'Clothes Off' & 'Cookie Jar' did big things over in America, recently (well, in the past 5 years)
December 29, 201014 yr Only Cupid's Chokehold (#4), others failed to go Top 40. They were sort of hits though.
December 30, 201014 yr Grenade for next week's number 1! And so it is! :cheer: from Billboard: Bruno Mars becomes the first male act in over 13 years to take his first two charting radio singles as a lead artist to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, to be released Thursday (Dec. 30), as "Grenade" diffuses Katy Perry's three-week run at the top with "Firework" (1-2).
