Third week at #1 for Firework but Grenade sold more last week so it might challenge Katy next week.

 

12th Top 10 hit for Lil Wayne. He has two #1's: Lollipop with Static Major (d. 2008) and Down with Jay Sean (2009).

 

'Higher' is the fourth hit for Taio Cruz and features Travie McCoy instead of Kylie. Don't ask why. McCoy is not that popular in the US either.

 

'Hold My Hand' reached its peak.

 

Third Hot 100 hit for The Script. 'Breakeven' was huge success in airplay and peaked #12 on Hot 100.

Katy Perry - Firework #1 for the 3rd week :o she's on fire this year!! all 3 single's #1 and the album #1 pretty amazing that

maybe he wants to be relevant in the US, it's really stupid.

Why is that weird/stupid at all? Take off the loon glasses - Kylie's seen as an 80s relic who made a flash in the pan comeback nine years ago in America. Travie McCoy is a current and marketable artist over there (a bit soon to call him a one hit wonder given he hasn't released a proper second single yet) - there's no reason why he 'should've' helped Kylie get another hit there. Singles are for him to be successful, not for the featuring artists to be successful.

Yea I don't see why Travie in particular would help Higher...In airplay probably a bit but can't see any impact in sales tbh.

 

Kylie's Aphrodite has sold more than Travie's album btw.

You're really contradicting yourself. If she has such a huge fanbase over there, why does she need another shot at success? Surely the newer and more marketable artist makes far more sense to 'help'?

Are we also forgetting Travie was the frontman for Gym Class Heroes? I'm pretty sure 'Cupid's Chokehold', 'Clothes Off' & 'Cookie Jar' did big things over in America, recently (well, in the past 5 years)

Only Cupid's Chokehold (#4), others failed to go Top 40. They were sort of hits though.
