It does annoy me when awful songs by female artists are nowhere near as derided as they should be on this site, and then similar songs by male artists are deservedly trashed. I can only think of Katy on a Mission that was hated on this site for some baffling reason...

maybe because it was expected to do well here at first, then it stacked up votes early?

oh, and what does that have to do with me wanting 'girlfriend' to stay in? there's hardly any songs by male artists that sound like it anyway :lol: and even if there was, I'd probably like it. it's just that there's hardly many male artists that are in the same genre as popular feamle artists.

so yeah, don't attack my opinion, because I don't attack yours.

its one of the things that annoys me- although if a song with male vocals does well on any kind of popularity poll etc. it usually means its a genuinely good song, however, if a female song does well- occasionally its not always there on merit :( Missing You was loved on here, yet if JLS or The Wanted sung it, it would've been hated <_<

:wacko: Umm, calm down. I wasn't attacking your opinion. Only the first sentence of my post was even in response to you, the rest of it was just speaking in general. I should have probably put it above the quote box to make things clearer...

Foundations - Kate Nash

I like Mickey (I assume you mean the Toni Basil song, later covered by Lolly in the late 90s) but Girlfriend is just atrocious. Horrible trashy pop at its worst and the yelling is so annoying, compared to Mickey which is IMO charming and cute. They're definitely very similar though - I think that was noted a hell of a lot at the time.

 

I do like Avril kind of though... Complicated is still easily her best song though, and then she just got worse and worse. It's funny because when she started a lot of people were saying she was an alternative kind of "pop princess" to Britney/Christina, and then she just became exactly like them? But both Britney and Xtina had moved on years before from that kind of cheesy pop. Very LOL.

 

Yeah, it would've been Lolly's version that we used to sing to in the playground at school! :lol: :wub:

 

And yes, I think a lot of people noticed the similarities, since Mickey was such a popular song. I think this video highlights a few of the similarities:

 

 

Mickey is better to be honest, but I still like Girlfriend. It just makes me laugh for some reason. Even though it probably makes most people puke. :lol:

A lot of songs in this list remind me why 2007 was so bad for the most part. :( The year where most things were dull and musically bankrupt and the interesting stuff didn't get a look in.

'Girlfriend' is utterly diabolical, however it's joined by 11 songs I hate as much...

^ Yeah, shocked people are already voting for Bleeding Love. I'm not a huge fan of the song, so I could see myself voting for it around Round 20 or something, depending on what's still in, but as it stands, there's still some pretty dreadful songs in the poll.
