so just missing the top 5 we have the comeback song from US singer Kelis, the song was her sixth top 10 hit- her song usually vary from being 'sexy bitch' kind of songs to the vulnerable more thoughtful songs- this would in a way fall into the latter, a very creative and credible piece of music that describes love in a metaphor of music- this new side of her coupled by a creative video enchanted many and she had a very good top 40 run and one of her biggest hits

 

so will Bad Romance go one better than last year and top the chart, or will she get it with Telephone instead, will Rihanna 'get it up' with Rude Boy or can Only Girl do it for her? or can the true shock of the year happen and they all get beaten by Fireflies by Owl City?

I remember thinking Acapella would get #1 (in the official chart) before it was released. :( It still did well though!

 

Another thing, when I first heard on the radio that they were going to play a new Kelis song called Acapella, I actually thought it was going to be acapella! :lol:

so unfortunately a surprise doesn't happen and the last act with all male vocals comes in at a still extremely impressive number 5, one of the first and best selling number 1s of the year - Owl City truly came out of nowhere in late 2009 to top the billboard hot 100, it then repeated that feat in January this year- why did it happen? well, it was one of the occasions that truly the best song in the charts got to the top, Fireflies sounded very different from what was in the chart at the time and was a different yet brilliant, uplifting, creative electronic masterpiece of positivity of the mind state of insomnia - , it even connected with the people of Buzzjack, no matter what happens, it will be remembered as one of the best number 1s of the year and fully deserves its top 5 placing on here

 

as for the artist himself, he is a classic example of a one hit wonder, following this worldwide hit, his follow up made it no higher than number 72, whilst his others missed the chart completely

 

 

 

 

I never get why his other singles flopped in the UK. Like Umbrella Beach is actually very good, imo, and I heard it on the radio a little bit.

so out of just two artists left, Rihanna just misses the chance to get two songs in the top 3, nonetheless her third number 1 is at number 4 in this chart, it wasn't necessarily Rihanna's best song, not a touch on Umbrella and not that original, but the song was just the kind of upbeat, euphoric dance-a-thon which connect exactly with the British public, and the sort of thing Russian Rouletta wasn't - and the song topped the charts for two weeks, one of the more surprising things it did was deny the top spot from the massively hyped comeback from Take That- it is a known chart fact that when Rihanna does get number 1, she does it in style - Umbrella unforgettably spending 10 weeks on top of the chart in 2007

 

so two Gagas and Rihanna making up the top 3, and third place is......

so whilst it is comfortably the highest scoring reshuffle song, it can't quite top the 2010 chart- a place down from its 2nd position of last year

 

still a very impressive amount of points for this year though, and spent almost every one of its weeks in the top 10 on top of the reshuffle chart - the song was of course Lady Gaga's third number 1, and regarded by many as her best song, a solid gold pop song with a great video to match, and was (although the chart week that week technically counted towards 2010) the first number 1 of 2010, Lady Gaga has had six top 10 hits since she started with just one missing the top 5 and two missing the top 10, with her next album promising to be revolutionary- its fair to say she could be seeing her four number 1s turn to 5 in 2011

 

so it goes down to the wire- Rihanna or Gaga (and Beyonce), I can reveal just two points separated the two- results are imminent

believe it or not- Gaga loses this one- by just two points but nonetheless second place this time - the song was both Gaga and Beyonce's fourth number 1, looking likely to be quite a underperformance at first, the track spent ages between 30 and 40- undoubtedly the thing that helped it was the video- which featured the two ladies as two criminals who go out and commit a crime, it stood out from the crowd and the song itself was another absolutely gold pop song from Gaga so in the end got them two weeks at number 1 and one of the best selling of the year, this adds to the great year that Gaga has had as a follow up to her even better year in 2009, both ladies are releasing new material in 2011, we will see who will triumph overall

 

so Rude Boy defies expectations and is officially the highest ranking song of 2010 on the reshuffle chart, the song, commentary and full chart recap are coming soon

 

 

Only 2 points between the top 2! :o I hope Rude Boy wins, simply because it's a better song, and a little bit different to everything else in the charts.

I wouldn't call this year, Rihanna's year specifically- but she has nonetheless had a far better year than last year- and this hit towards the beginning of the year started it all off- after the modestly performing Russian Roulette, Rude Boy was far more classic Rihanna and something her fanbase and its reggae/dance sounding vibes would appeal the British public would love,- it didn't actually get to number 1 officially, beaten by Tinie Tempah's Pass Out, however, the people of Buzzjack loved it in what was quite an anti-BJ top 10, it was Rihannas fifth number 2, and tenth top 5 since her debut in 2005

 

so there you have it, Rude Boy is officially Buzzjack's number 1 of the year on the reshuffle chart, full chart coming up next :D
