The next new entry is at No8 for the latest Glee release ‘The Warblers’, the tenth Top 30 Glee album and the seventh to make the Top 10. Sade has the third new entry at No12 with her ‘Ultimate Collection’, arriving at the same spot as her previous album ‘Soldier Of Love’ in February last year. Her previous compilation ‘The Best Of Sade’ was released in 1994 when it reached No6. The fourth newcomer this week is actor/musician Hugh Laurie, whose tribute to New Orleans blues ‘Let Them Talk’ debuts at No14. There’s no change at the top of the Singles Chart this week, with LMFAO taking a fourth week at No1 with ‘Party Rock Anthem’ while Jennifer Lopez holds at No2 for a fourth week with ‘On The Floor’ (feat. Pitbull). After their success in the second semi-final qualifier, Eurovision hopefuls Jedward move back up eight places from No11 to No3 with ‘Lipstick’, ahead of tomorrow night’s Final. With his previous single ‘Sweat’ down from No5 to No8, David Guetta chalks up yet another major hit this week with ‘Where Them Girls At’ (feat. Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj) leaping from No15 to No5 – his eighth Top 5 single in Ireland in less than two years. Lady Gaga takes two tracks from her forthcoming second album into the Top 10: ‘Judas’ reverses back from No22 to No9 while ‘The Edge Of Glory’ is new at No10. This year it’s a different story: Jedward’s ‘Lipstick’ rockets to No1 while Azerbaijan’s winning entry ‘Running Scared’ by Ell & Nikki enters the chart at a lowly No41. This is Jedward’s second No1 single in Ireland (following ‘Under Pressure’). Originally released three months ago when it debuted at No2, ‘Lipstick’ has remained firmly inside the Top 20 in the intervening weeks. The second most successful ESC 2011 song this week is for A Friend In London with ‘New Tomorrow’ representing Denmark and landing at No9 on this week’s chart. Beyond Eurovision, the other big story of the week is the ubiquitous Lady Gaga: ahead of the release of her second album she launches a fourth single ‘Hair’ which debuts at No14, joining ‘Judas’ (No8), ‘The Edge Of Glory’ (No12) and the title track ‘Born This Way’ (No18) in this week’s Top 20. Adele takes a 15th week at No1 on the Album Chart with ‘21’, and once again the nearest challenger is her previous album ‘19’. With Ryan Sheridan’s ‘The Day You Live Forever’ down one place to No3, Kate Bush has the highest new entry at No4 with ‘Director’s Cut’ – her first release since ‘Aerial’ which debuted and peaked at No6 back in 2005. Jedward’s ‘Planet Jedward’ is a re-entry at No12 - propelled by their performance in Düsseldorf on Saturday, they register their highest position on this chart since September last year. Their first release ‘Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not’ became the fastest selling debut album ever in Ireland in 2006 (although overtaken by Leona Lewis ‘Spirit’ the following year). The follow-up ‘Favourite Worst Nightmare’ resided at No1 for three weeks in 2007 and their third album ‘Humbug’ spent a week on top in 2009. Thirty-three years after it was originally recorded, Rory Gallagher’s ‘Notes From San Francisco’ finally gets a posthumous release this week and debuts at No5 – his highest chart position since 2005’s ‘Big Guns: The Very Best Of’ reached No2 on the tenth anniversary of his passing. The third and final new entry in this week’s Top 20 is for ‘America’s Got Talent’ runner-up Jackie Evancho, who enters at No16 with her crossover-classical selection ‘Dream With Me’. Pitbull holds on to the No1 spot for a second week on this week’s Singles Chart with ‘Give Me Everything’ while Aloe Blacc’s ‘I Need A Dollar’ moves closer to the top – up to No2 from last week’s No4. Example takes this week’s highest new entry with ‘Changed The Way You Kiss Me’ entering at No6 and in the process gets his best chart placing on the Singles Chart to date, surpassing his 2010 hit ‘Kickstarts’ which reached No8. Coldplay provide the only ‘rock’ track in a Top 30 dominated by pop/R&B, claiming the next new entry with ‘Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall’, the first track to be taken from their forthcoming fifth album, entering at No16 – nearly a match for their last single ‘Christmas Lights’ which peaked at No15 last December. June 10, 201114 yr I actually could not be less interested in the charts at the moment, 2011 is turning out to be an incredibly slow year for music, just like last year :(
