OH AND A WARNING: I have bad movie taste (i.e. 'Paranormal Activity 2' may or may not feature :kink:)

 

Yes I'm jumping on the bandwagon! But before I start there are a few films which are worthy of a mention, but weren't quite good enough to make my top 10!

 

In alphabetical order:

 

'Alice In Wonderland' It was alright. Could have been better

'The Collector' It was actually pretty decent. Nothing groundbreaking though...

'The Crazies' If I'm honest I only remember one or two particular bits from this film, but I remember liking it when I did go to see it...

'Four Lions' Hilarious and surprisingly good film! and just missed out on a Top 10 positioning!

'Hachi' Boring film, but my God is it emotional! I wept like a bitch!

'How To Train Your Dragon' Dreamworks really can be good when they want to be!

'The Human Centipede' One of the most disturbing films ever imagined!

'Jackass 3D' The best of the three impo.

'Saw 3D' Yes. It's the worst of the franchise, but it's SAW and I'm a little biased with my like for it! :(

'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' Was alright. Not as good as people made it out to be though :\

'She's Out Of My League' Didn't know what this would be about until me and loads of mates from work went to see it. Was surprisingly decent!

'Step Up 3D' I don't care what people say, I really enjoyed it. Particularly the dancing (obviously)! Not as good as the second, but far better than the first!

Before I start, I will also warn you that my commentary/comments will more than likely be awful/not very witty or anything particularly special as I'm crap at that sort of stuff.

 

10: 'Paranormal Activity 2'

Starring: Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat, Molly Ephraim, Sprague Grayden & Brian Boland.

At number 10 is the horror film 'Paranormal Activity 2'. This film has been panned pretty much by every critic/everyone who's seen it, but I (being the scared little bitch I am and generally having a messed up film taste) really enjoyed it! It had it's moments, that's for sure. The best thing about this film though, was how it managed to connect this part of the movie with the first 'Paranormal Activity' movie. One things for sure though, the first will always be the better film. Roll on number 3 later this year!

09: 'Despicable Me'

So up next is the brilliant animated family film (and the first of TWO Steve Carell leading films), 'Despicable Me'. I am such a big kid at heart and with such a strong cast lined up, this did not disappoint. The trailer for this looks rubbish, which is why I opted to use the Minions, international trailer instead. Because lets face it, those that have seen this film, it's all about the minions (and the little girl, who is basically an older Boo, from 'Monsters Inc' :heehee:). The only thing that I would have against this, was the fact it used 3D... when in fact, it's no different and is just as good 2D.

in the Despicable Me cast you say, Jemaine Clements, do you mean Clement? as in Jermaine from Flight of the Conchords? just he have a decent part? this could be an important factor in me watching the film despite it having Russell Brand in it.

Yes. Indeed I do. (It's also the first of two films in my top 10 in which he also features! - The other one being the second film Steve Carrel is in too!) He apparently voices Jerry the Minion.

I believe he's the smaller one of the two. The minions appear all at once throughout the film, so it's hard to distinguish who voices who. But I didn't even know he was in the film until I looked it up on imdb as I was doing this! :lol:

He should be writing stuff and doing lead performances (he was great in the lead role of Eagle Vs Shark, best thing about the film), if anything best thing I have ever seen jermaine clement do is perform live with Flight of the Conchords, some of his improvisation was even funnier than stuff on the tv show.

I watched 'Eagle vs. Shark' the other day actually. It was alright, not as good as I was hoping (considering it starred Jemaine) but it was a nice film to watch when there was literally sod all on. I really want to see Flight, live. :( one of my mates from work (who got me into Flight of the Conchords) has seen them once or twice and he said the same about them being fantastic and it's one of his favourite gigs he's been to.

FOTC are so fantastic live, hopefully they will come back again, they did do 4 london shows are pretty big venues (2 at Hammersmith Apollo and 2 at Wembley Arena) within one month, on top of a full tour of the rest of the UK, all sold out, so clearly the demand for them is there, they were brilliant and there was plenty of improvising, as well as live only songs, and the best part being them ending with sugalumps and they came into the audience and took someone's camera and started taking photo's of each others 'sugalumps', and the security's, and then after Bret took Jermaine's Bret was like "oh no memory full" and Jermain goes "thats just how big my sugalumps are", and then Bret started climing over people putting his sugalump area in peoples faces.

 

I've seen the trailer for Dinenr For Schmucks a few times and to be honest, looks f***ing terrible, you can tell it was just thrown together to cash in on Steve Carells recent popularity, and to be honest i'm not the biggest fan of him, I am tempted to watch it based on Jermaine having a role though.

LMAO. He has a better role in 'Dinner For Schmucks' as opposed to 'Despicable Me' but I didn't recognise hiim at first with long hair. He looked like a beefier Russell Brand. Luckily, I never saw the trailer for 'Dinner For Schmucks' so I didn't know what to expect. I just heard Jemaine and Kristen (Mel from Conchords :wub:) were in it and I was sold! :lol: (Didn't realise Steve Carrel or Paul Rudd were in it until I saw it either!)

Paranormal Activity scared me! Is that really bad to say? Anyway it did.

Solid start Jonjo. PA2 is much weaker than the first but it does work in the first film well and isn't terrible. I found it a tad uninvolving in places.

Despicable Me is great. And Chris, I've seen it twice and even though I know R Brand is in it I still don't really notice him. Can't even remember who he plays right now.

08: 'Buried'

Starring: Ryan Reynolds

Number 8 is the very suspenseful thriller, 'Buried'. YES I understand it may just be about a man stuck in a box or whatever, however it did keep me intrigued throughout the whole film. Ryan Reynolds is fantastic in it and at times it can be very claustrophobic, even watching it. The only major downside was the fact the ending was depressing! But yeah, I'm not giving the film enough justice, it's truly one of those you have to watch yourself in order to get a real feel of whether you'd like it or not.

07: 'Get Him To The Greek'

At number 7 is the brilliant, (musical?) comedy, 'Get Him To the Greek', which is the unofficial follow up to smash 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall'. I am not going to lie, I hadn't seen a trailer to this film, whatsoever and had only seen a clip of it from when Russell was on Alan Carr (or some chat show anyway!) and it was basically Russell Brand being in the film, which made me want to see it. I was not disappointed (clearly). Everything was great, the humour, the songs and even the casting. The soundtrack to this film, in particular is amazing.

I don't want to go over the top, but Buried is the worst film I have ever seen. Seriously dreadful.

06: '[REC]2'

At number 6, is the incredible sequel to '[Rec]'. The first '[Rec]' film was a fantastic surprise for me. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I do (mainly due to it being in Spanish), so originally, when I'd heard about 'Quarantine' I was excited! That was until I actually saw the film/remake of it... '[Rec]2' is not like most other sequels though, as it is actually a fantastic follow up and is just as good as the first. A genuine, scary film! Also; I wouldn't advise on watching 2 before 1, as it's a direct follow on from the first..

05: 'Toy Story 3'

Number 5 sees the return of Woody, Buzz, The three Green Aliens and many more, in the final part of the trilogy of 'Toy Story'! Yes, number 5 may be a "bit low", but I do adore this. It had everything you could possibly want from a 3rd movie and had the most perfect ending you could have wished for, for such a huge franchise. Spanish Buzz is easily the highlight of the film though! As well as Mr Potato Heads various "costume changes" or whatever :lol:. It managed to keep the fans of the older 'Toy Story''s whilst managing to bring in the newer generation with them! Brilliant animation and is one of many reasons to add to the long list that Pixar $h!t all over Dreamworks when it comes to animation...
