Anyways, i'll start with the albums...

Top 10 Albums 2010...

First of all, just missing out are Robyn, Rihanna and Kylie Minogue.

10. Diana Vickers - Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree.

Standout songs - Once, My Hip, Notice.

A clear pop sound with a distinct vocal coating the tracks, simplistic and I believe My Wicked Heart is a further progression of matuerity yet to come.

9. Katy Perry - Teenage Dream.

Standout songs - Peacock, Teenage Dream, The One That Got Away, Hummingbird Heartbeat.

What I love most about Katy Perry is that she never pretends to be making anything other then pure and simple pleasurable POP music. And that's exactly what this album is, bubblegum pop at it's finest. A brilliant year with songs with some integrity lyrically.

8. Chipmunk - I Am... Chipmunk.

Standout songs - Oopsy Daisy, Until You Were Gone, Look For Me.

The highlights of this album are DEFINATELY the singles, if you don't like the singles you won't like the album pretty simply, never have singles been picked so brilliant from an album, there's not a song I think should have been chose more then the ones released (Maybe Lose My Life over Diamond Rings but i'll take either). Great debut from home grown talent, definately worth picking up.

7. Example - Won't Go Quietly.

Standout songs - Kickstars, Won't Go Quietly, Watch The Sun Come Up, See The Sea.

An act at the start of this year that I didn't think I would like, but what great pop dance music he is making, I am going to see him Manchester this year and i'm very excited as it's totally different to anything i've been to see before. Kickstarts being a highlight of the year for me drew me into this and so glad it did.

6. Adam Lambert - For Your Entertainment.

Standout songs - If I Had You, Whatya Want From Me, Fever, Time For Miracles.

Glam rock, with a modern twist. Songs of honest emotion, no switch in the gender referencing to please the politically correct world, and music with experiences behind it. Brilliant song writing to suit him and his style perfectly. A couple of songs aren't needed as it's strong enough without so many songs, either way, it's more for your money.

As if I forgot about this? :o

For catching ups sake...

5. Tinie Tempah - Disc-Covery.

Stand outs: Pass Out, Written In The Stars

4. Jason Derulo - Jason Derulo.

Stand outs: Fallen, What If, In My Head, The Sky Is The Limit, Ridin' Solo

3. Mumford And Sons - Sigh No More.

Stand outs: Thistle And Weeds, Winter Winds, The Cave.

2. Biffy Clyro - Only Revolutions.

Stand outs: Many Of Horror, Bubbles, That Golden Rules, Whoreses

1. Marina And The Diamonds - The Family Jewels.

Standouts: Shampain, I Am Not A Robot, Mowgli's Road, Hollywood, Oh No!

So this is my favourite album of the year! Why? A concrete, solid pop with a twist record. Marina is doing mainstream with an edge and excecuting it PERFERCTLY. This album goes through the journey of self. Self discovery, identity, where you fit in life. Something I LOVE hearing on records. Something I don't think is being executed better by anyone else (just like no one will top Robyn's beautiful words and melodies going through the journeys of heart break and longing...). I SEVERELY recommend this to anyone, I can't stress enough how important a record I think this is. I want to say i'm gutted about it's moderate flop situation, but i'm not, because it shows that those that are buying it are actually appreciative of her art and her talent. Beautiful.

The Family Jewels is indeed a wonderful album, only Marina and Robyn managed to pull off great pop albums for me last year. I absolutely adore Obsessions and Mowgli's Road but the rest of it is still pretty much all 8 or 9 out of ten moments too.
