Extending mine to a top 20, just because I can

I could do 200. I have a list of 100 from the 90s, the 00,50 from the 80s....I'm a list fiend.

Artists do tend to pick their highlights as singles though, hence singles mostly appearing in these lists.

Depends on your genre of choice.

In some genres there are tracks that are just to strange or weird to be released as singles....like the Top 4 in my Top 10.

Same, I have these as playlists on my iPod;

Top 100 Best Songs Ever

Top 100 of the 90s

Top 100 of the 00s

and YTD charts for 2008, 2009 and 2010, should add earlier ones too but will have to do so in the summer when I'm back at home and have access to all of my CD's and can load certain songs onto my iPod.

True, but BuzzJack is primarily known for female pop, and this topic has been posted in the pop forum, so it's no surprise to see lists of only singles here.

Personally, If I was to post my top 100 you'd see a load more album tracks in there, but I don't quite think of myself as the 'typical BuzzJacker' music wise even despite the fact that I won the award for the poster that best represents the board  I listen to as much obscure stuff as chart stuff - it may still mostly be pop, but it's still not widely known stuff. Obviously I'm not as leftfield as those that populate the indie/alternative forum, but I also wouldn't place any of Lady Gaga, Rihanna or Katy Perry within my all time top 5 favourite artists.

01 Shakira Don't Bother - The ultimate kiss-off. The lyrics ('she practices tai chi / she'd never lose her nerve / she's more than you deserve') are perfect.

02 No Doubt It's My Life - The best cover versions always add a new spin to a song but this succeeds because it's so faithful to the melancholy-tinged original that it could practically have been recorded in the 80s.

03 Anastacia Rearview - Dripping with emotion. The final chorus after the middle 8 when the song drops out, only to come roaring back in like a wild cat escaped from a zoo, is almost too much. HUGE.

04 Dannii Minogue You Won't Forget About Me - Never before has a song sounded quite so sweat-soaked, as though it was dragged kicking and screaming from the dancefloor of some over-crowded Ibizan club where everybody was off their tits on E. Extra points for the amazing video.

05 Roísín Murphy You Know Me Better - How this wasn't huge is beyond me. An epic love song which doesn't sound in the remotest bit sickly or saccharine. That's not Roísín's STYLE (mainly because she's a miserable cow but hey).

06 Gwen Stefani Wonderful Life - Tucked away at the end of The Sweet Escape, this is an underrated GEM which really should've been unleashed on the world, although in a way I'm glad it wasn't. Never have songs about suicide been so pretty on the ear.

07 Namie Amuro What A Feeling - v i d e o - That Moopy disco emoticon which Tirren so loves to rape and abuse is truly worthy of this monster floorfiller whose rave-happy hook samples Irene Cara's classic of the same name from Flashdance. If you aren't familiar with it already then WATCH THE VIDEO PRONTO.

08 Jennifer Lopez Waiting For Tonight - Hard as it might be to believe now, Jen was the most in vogue popstar when the new millenium was ushered in, so it's fantastic that this song is so interweaved with memories of the countdown to the year 2000 (right down to the video). She'll never top it.

09 P!nk I'm Not Dead - Situated between the many show-offy anthems on the album of the same name, I'm Not Dead is a little more subtle and packs a massive emotional punch. The middle 8 still gives me shivers every time I listen.

10 Natalie Imbruglia Shiver - Whilst Torn remains the most popular song in Nat's back catalogue, this for me just edges it, on account of its amazing ability to be both a happy and a desperately sad song all at once. Truly anthemic. #8 was an insult - this is a NUMBER ONE SONG.

Wonderful Life is fantastic, one of the few highlights on a relatively poor album!

Shiver going in at #8 was truly the shock and injustice of 05 (with You Won't Forget About Me going in at #7 the shock/injustice of 04!). The blow was softened a bit by the fact that the song provided her with her first #1 album two weeks later but to say that she came in behind Tony Christie, McFly, 50 Cent, an Elvis re-issue and Will Smith reminds me of how disgusted I was. I honestly thought that it was the song to return her to the top 3, at the absolute least.

Gosh, those acts who beat her are AWFUL (aside from Will Smith - I thought 'Switch' was fantastic)!
N-Trance Set You Free is my favourite song, always gets me in an amazing mood  also doesn't grow old, as for the the rest of the top 10 I have no idea at all, its too hard
A top 10 of all time is almost impossible to choose, but off the top of my head:

Radiohead - Idioteque

OutKast - Hey Ya!

Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Maps

Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting For?

Prince - I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man / When Doves Cry

!!!

Oh I do hate these lists, I can never be truely satisfied with a 10 and theres the slight shame of some of the stuff I name.

01 Girls Aloud - Biology

02 Britney Spears - Toxic

03 Beyonce - Crazy In Love

04 Natalie Imbruglia - Shiver

05 Sugababes - Too Lost In You

06 Beverley Knight - Come As You Are

07 Robyn - With Every Heartbeat

08 Alicia Keys - Fallin'

09 Christina Aguilera - Beautiful

10 Jamelia - Beware Of The Dog

Be aware that asking me in a few hours will mean recieving a completly different lists. I've stuck to singles as including other album tracks and whatsnot would just make it too difficult. And yes, I realize I have just produced possibly th emost predictable list OF ALL TIME.

07 Namie Amuro What A Feeling - v i d e o - That Moopy disco emoticon which Tirren so loves to rape and abuse is truly worthy of this monster floorfiller whose rave-happy hook samples Irene Cara's classic of the same name from Flashdance. All I use it for is WHOLLY WORTHY (although this is also).

I'm sticking to, say, charts from the last decade to now because it's too hard to pick otherwise.

1. Girls Aloud - Biology

2. N'Sync - Gone

3. Pink - Who Knew

4. Mike Posner - Cooler Than Me

5. Mcfly - All About You

6. Britney Spears - Everytime

7. Gaga - Bad Romance

8. Pink - Like a Pill

9. The Killers - Read My Mind

10. Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down

I don't know. There's probably loads more.

EDIT: There are loads more. I just read through everyone else's and kept going "oh yeah, and that! and that!" Too hard!
