Kidz certainly isnt setting the uk charts on fire, its now down to #21 in the midweeks, this could be the first offical take that single to miss the top 20 for many many many years.

Hardly surprising. Zilch promotion. Not even a video.

 

And anyone remotely interested in TT probably has the album by now anyway -_-

Radio play doen't help that much nowadays. There is no promo at all for Kidz and the Brits performance didn't do the song justice...

It looks like there is not much interest in TT anymore. I don't think it will miss the top20 but right now it is definitely slipping down the itunes chart.

There is still huge interest in TT ... although it is just from TT fans. They don't seem to be generating any new followers (and after the Brits performance - I don't wonder why!) I'm sorry but they're too old to be pretending at all this 'anarchic' stuff. The song is fine but the performance - I find it totally off-putting. And sadly - because of the song - I can't see any other performance going with it. They can produce good, adult pop music without trying to be 'right on man!' I can understand Coldplay dressing up as soldiers and it coming off quite convincingly - but when TT do it - I want to see them do it for a laugh - not as though they're right up there, behind the students (when at least one member of Take That couldn't give a flying f*ck about university fees going up!)

I doubt they even know how a university looks from the inside!

 

You are right about the sales though. After the reunion TT actually seem to have about 3 million people who would buy their music and slowly but constantly this base has decreased to 2 million over the last few years. The album is progressive but non-fans don't have ears for a hugely succesful act which is marked with a different music style. They definitely cannot reintroduce themselves as 'the English'. (even more after this performance!)

They haven't decreased that much (although it looks like nothing will beat the total sales of BW which is I believe 2.8M in the UK). Sales of The Circus are about 2.1M (UK) and sales of Progress so far are just under 2M (UK). Progress has perhaps done slightly better outside the UK (surely one reason only) with sales nearing of 0.8. I think BW sales outside the UK are over 1.2M - but it has been out a lot longer.

 

To be honest - the stills from the video give me a bit more confidence (not that the single will do well because of it - they've left that way too late) but it looks like it isn't going to go down the predictable 'riot police V kids' thing I'd imagined. It looks like it is actually showcasing the theme of the tour (BTTF) and not necessarily the single.

Said It All is my favourite TT video and the only one I've really liked. ALL the videos from the first time around were bloody dreadful! Especially Pray!

I must admit - I think if I'd got tickets for the tour - I'd have done what you're doing - sold them to the highest bidder. Hint though - don't leave it too late - you may find you don't make as much profit as you hoped you would.

PS - The tour themes was announced quite a while ago - its based on Back To The Future - and the costumes in those videos seem to make sense. They're going through time. Barlow looks like he could be from the Crimean War period, Jason - WW1 (there's a T E Lawrence sort of thing going on there), Rob looks like its the most near in time ... and Mark looks like he's stepped out of Narnia!

 

I've no idea what Howard is dressed in - or what the drum is for.

That's going to be Rob & Gary's idea - they're the two Sci-Fi nuts aren't they? I know Gary's input into the BW tour montage for Never Forget - he said as long as the moon-landing and Starship Enterprise were in there he was happy. Anyway - I've posted that youtube thing in the TT board.
