Yeah i see where you're coming from Kath, but the album has broken records in the UK and they have sold every date out here as well in a ridiculous amount of time as well as 8 nights at Wembley, beating the 7 night record held by MJ's Bad Tour. The Flood should have been a number 1 single to be fair, I mean if JLS Club is Alive went to the top then there's no contest lol. Still it has shifted around half a million copies in the UK so all in all it has been a good idea.

It'll be interesting to see what the tour edition Progress sounds like. Whether they take a more Beautiful World approach or stay down the electropop vibe. Either way we should know sooner rather than later as there is no point in releasing a new single from the new collection after the tour, it just wouldn't make sense, The album yes perhaps it should be released after but the single.. no

Im very suprised the album has fallen as much as that tbh :/ strange

I just hope that Kidz can hold around mid 30's till Friday where hopefully it'll get a boost and break into top 25 or something (ideal scenario i know lol)

The album should stay around 20 or so this week especially after Comic Relief where they are doing Happy Now and Kidz supposedly

It has sold well - but really not THAT much better than The Circus. It seems not many Rob fans have bought the album (if even just 25% of all Rob fans did - then we'd be looking at UK sales nearly 3M not 2M). Also - sales outside the UK have been singularly unimpressive (not nearly as good as BW). Maybe the tour will make more sales in Europe - I'm not sure.

With regard to the tour - after the absolute tour-de-force of The Circus Tour - it would have been a sell-out with or without Rob - so I'm really not sure who's benefitting more from this reunion (other than the guys on a personal friendship point of view.) I'm sorry I still can't go with your views on The Flood - I really don't think its as great as everyone says it was - and in hindsight - I think it was a case of 'the emperor's new clothes'.

Anyway! Its nice we agree (I do hate arguing!)

In terms of take thats previous success prior to robs return progress hasnt outdone their previous sales by far, however i wont pass judgement yet as to be fair progress is coming very near 2 million uk sales and it has quite a bit of distance left in it yet so its hard to tell how it will eventually end up. In Ireland progress is apparantly their biggest selling album since the re union but i heard that on the radio so i dont know if its fully true.

The flood i agree to be fair should have been number 1, while it was beaten to number 1 by JLS the flood has sold over 160,000 more copies in total than JLS so they were robbed of number 1, and the flood has sold impressively very near 500,000 uk sales to date and ranks as take thats 2nd biggest hit in ireland since their re union. For me as i said before the flood is bloody brilliant and i adore it and its by far my favourite song from progress qand would be my 2nd fav take that single since the reunion with rule the world been first.

Quality wise i like the progress album and its a decent follow up to the circus but not a patch on it for me quality wise. I have enjoyed robbies return alot more than i initially expected, however i dont think music wise robbie has added much to the band and i have to admit i prefer the take that sound on beautiful world and most certainly the circus. Im also really interested in hearing the next take that album without robbie to see what direction they take.

Tour wise as expected has sold out quickly and massively in the uk and ireland but im not to up to date on how things are moving in europe so i cant contribute much to that debate.

I would have expected higher album sales for progress in europe though as robbie is alot bigger there, i suppose the re union outside the friendship has benefited both parties but not anything hugely major.

They've sold close to 1 million albums outside the UK. That's alomost three times the sales for The Circus. Progress will be their biggest selling album ever. Especially taking into account the planned re-release of Progress in autumn, it has a lot sales left (Beautiful World benefited hugely because of the re-release).

It was an incumbent Rihanna who denied them the number 1 spot though wasn't it Pete. Even her second week sales dwarfed Take That's first week sales.

I'm more disappointed by the sales of the album outside the UK though. I know the sales are about 800K but they've come to a standstill (and if you spread that amount over the number of countries its been on sale in in Europe - that isn't a lot per country.)

Yeah Rihanna denied them number 1 but they didnt promote the song until the x factor a week after release and that week it sold nearly 90k on top of the 69k the week before, so if they had performed on x factor the week it was released then they would have flown to number 1 no contest.

I think the album will pick up again in Europe once they start promoting the tour and a possible new single whether that will be Kidz, Happy Now or something else.

It seems Kidz is up one from yesterday and is now 34 in the midweeks, which is good! if it can hold that position until Friday night we could see it reach a new peak

Apparently they are performing in Europe in the next week:

Sunday 20th March - life4you (Netherlands - RT(4)

Thursday 24th March - Echo (Germany - Das Erste)

I have a lot of hopes for Germany with Kidz. This is something that the young generation would watch, Wetten Dass was more for the old one. This is the best chance they could get to promote. Two years ago Razorlight sung Wire to wire, who flopped in UK and was here a big hit.

For UK is a lost train already, to late. Is there a chance for them to sing SOS? Or is "like a bullet to my head" to dangerous for BBC?

I cant see kidz achieving a higher peak than its current #28 peak, comic relief should give it a boost but i think #30 on sunday could be its best for this week, for a single with a low peak its selling reasonably well as when this coming weeks sales are added they should be roughly on they should be over 50,000, so if it can hang around even in the lower reaches of the charts for a few weeks 75-80,000 is possible.

It looks like they'll only be doing the Fake That sketch / performance of Happy Now.

Kath

either way the album will get a sales boost if nothing else, kidz in todays midweeks is #33 up 1 place from yesterdays update so at worst it will stay top 35 this week.

So, they didn't do Kidz? Ahem why the hell they release Mark's songs when they don't intend to promote them? Just to make people think that he has no success? <_<

I start seriously thinking selling my bloody tour tickets. I so don't care for Robbie part (no offence, Robie fans, he is just not on my taste that is all, i could have seen him playing gigs in Germany many times and i didn't care one second) and for this album. Also for the TT mark one. So it remains three-four songs they will sing from BW and Circus .... *gutted right now*

I think they know kidz is kinda finished with now so they have just moved on, a performance would have good but i think its all about promoting the album really and that why songs like happy now and sos have been performed.

Iris - for the purpose of the night - the song Happy Now just fitted in better. Besides - Kidz is a song that HAS to be sung with the full monty going with it - the Riot cops/dancing/choreography, etc - and in a limited studio setting it just couldn't be done. Besides - I think they've done the right thing by letting sleeping dogs lie. The song simply bombed (I honestly don't think any amount of publicity would have helped it) and they're best moving on. Besides - In Europe - it still isn't too late for the video to work with Kidz.

BTW - Mark's lead had NOTHING to do with the song bombing. Its just the greater public out there didn't think Kidz was as great a song as the Take That fans (me included) thought it was.

Obviously I know that it only made Top 30...but I've only just entered the topic and voted based on what I honestly thought it would do...

Went for Top 20. Thought it was better than Up All Night and just as commercial, as especially since Said It All went to #9 I didn't think it was possible to miss the Top 20.

Anyhoo, the only other one which stands a chance of Top 40 now is SOS as that's by far the catchiest one left, I doubt they'll bother with a third single. They shouldn't released Kids on 3 physical formats with a radio edit available, that way more fans might of bought it! :(

I think both Said It All and Up All Night are far superior songs (musically) to Kidz. As a whole album - I think Progress is a better one than The Circus but apart from The Flood (which I don't like) nothing on it is single-worthy. I hope they don't release a third single. Sure - let Happy Now float about in the top 50 as a result of CR - but I hope they don't officially release a third.

Oddly enough - our local radio station has been playing Shine quite a lot lately - so much so that I started listening to Beautiful World again and realised that THAT album had potentially four or five singles and gained them new fans. I miss Beautiful World. Sometimes I wish they'd just done the one album and left it at that.

You know what - I actually don't like the five-piece Take That - it isn't Robbie - it just doesn't look right with five.

Kath

I think the 4 piece and 5 pieve line up suit take that as i can relate to both as i was fan of both take that old and new era, however i do think quality wise the albums from take that as a 4 piece is superior to the 5 piece. I think with progress there was huge pressure to come up with something spectacular as the press was glued to them plus it was a the follow up to 2 albums that sold 2 million plus, additionaly they had to come up with a sound that suited the take that 4 piece sound and robbie;s solo sound which they did but it didnt translate into alot of single material. All that aside i agree progress in its entirety is good but doesnt have huge singles potentials where the circus and beautiful world did. Also up all night was a brilliant single choice i thought it was the highlight of the circus era although as much as i love it i prefer the flood as the flood for me its so so epic and an absolute classic for me.

Im sure if the progress deluxe goes ahead which i think it will they will come up with another commercial song for a single to promote the album. Then sometimes i wonder if i have a clue what i am talking about as i thought kidz was very commercial and catchy and would easily manage top 20 and up all night would have easily went top 10 but i was very wrong on both. All i can say in kidz defense is for a song that will probably peak no higher than number 28 its sales arent all that bad and likewise up all night for a top 20 single sold quite well.

Interesting that beautiful is mentioned and its back in the charts again in the top 70. Overall though i have to say im still thrilled take that reformed as the material they have delivered over the last few years as been great, i love all 3 studio albums plus the live album was fantastic aswell, all this mixed with the tours etc has put many a smile on my face over the last few years and in a worst case scenario i think we have at the very least 1 more take that studio album left to come although i still feel they are gpoing to continue for a long time to come as they really seem to be enjoying been take that again and they know how to balance their own personal lives with the band where as first time round they didint and i think that has made a huge difference this time round.

Kidz drops just 3 places to #34 in the UK this week spending its 5th week now in the top 40,including this week sales at an estimate are 53,000 in total now.
Nice performance of the flood but not as powerful as the first time they performed it on uk x factor but for me that performance of the flood will be hard to top as it was just such a powerhouse performance with a fantastic crowd reaction.
