Posted January 19, 201114 yr The Strokes have tentatively named their forthcoming fourth album 'Angles' and its lead single 'Undercover Of Darkness'. The band gave the information to Rolling Stone magazine, also revealing further songtitles 'Taken For A Fool', 'Life Is Simple', 'Machu Picchu', 'Radio Minor Madness' and 'Call Me Back'. The album has a US release date of March 22. A UK release date has not been confirmed yet, but if it coincides with the US date it will be out the day before, on March 21. The single release date it yet to be announced. Guitarist Albert Hammond, Jr. explained the album title by saying: "It's what the record sounds like. It comes from five different people." 'Life Is Simple' is the only song that survived from sessions the band recorded with producer Joe Chiccarelli before deciding to record in Hammond Jr's own studio, taking on production duties themselves. Hammond Jr said that, after the album was out, he was hoping the band wouldn't wait another five years before releasing their next effort. "We want to release albums quicker," he explained. The new record will be their first since 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth'. Guitarist Nick Valensi added: "I don't want to make an album every five years. I love being in this band and I want it to be a career thing." Cannot wait :) Edited January 20, 201114 yr by Rich
January 19, 201114 yr Long absence. Guitar revolution is over now... I am looking forward to it, but I can't help but feel The Strokes belong in the 00s and not the 10s...
January 20, 201114 yr 'Juicebox' and especially the underrated 'You Only Live Once' from the last album were fantastic, I'm sort of interested.
January 20, 201114 yr "Is This It" was wonderful and then everything else was a slippery path downhill. I'm expecting an EMBARRASSMENT tbf but I'm open to being proved wrong.
January 20, 201114 yr i don't get is this it? well, no, i get it, it's just not that good their best thooooo
January 20, 201114 yr 'Juicebox' and especially the underrated 'You Only Live Once' from the last album were fantastic, I'm sort of interested. I think "You Only Live Once" was dreadful, and reminded me too much of "In Too Deep" by Sum 41 (boke). Juicebox was fantastic though. Look forward to this, they've been more miss than hit since Is This It? so I'm hoping they can be a bit more solid after such a long absence.
January 21, 201114 yr Hard to Explain and Trying Your Luck.... after that the Strokes were $h!t to me.
January 21, 201114 yr Not even Reptilia Tony? It's by far their best for me, and one of two good songs on the dire second album.
January 21, 201114 yr My enthusiasm begins and ends with Last Nite. Everything else is ok to boring. I thought they sounded tired when they started!!
January 22, 201114 yr Quite interested. "Hard to Explain", "Reptilia" and "Juicebox" are all really good.
January 24, 201114 yr Long absence. Guitar revolution is over now... I am looking forward to it, but I can't help but feel The Strokes belong in the 00s and not the 10s... Agreed! Will definitely be interesting to hear though. They don't usually dissappoint hopefully their sound has evolved with the length of time that went into this.
February 8, 201114 yr New single "Under Cover Of Darkness" is going to be a free download on TheStrokes.com from tomorrow (Feb 9th)
February 9, 201114 yr Hmm, not sure. Sounds like it's verging on the edge of parody at times, "Hard to Explain" will be hard to top. They've been at their best since when it's been a heavier sound (Reptilia, Juicebox) which this seems to be shying away from.
