Posted January 20, 201114 yr I'm going to attempt to simplify what we changed over the past year, as we head into a new era for the contest. Entry Restrictions -Songs entered into Buzzjack Song Contest may not have been entries into the Eurovision Song Contest. -Any entry deemed by the moderating team [NEW: +the host of the contest] to be against the spirit of the contest will be veto'd. Reasons will be given. Format -We will be using the Eurovision Points System of 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1. -The 1BigFinal System will be used in TBO and for the one big final format. -From XXXII we will be looking to reintroduce Semi Finals. Reservation/Confirmation -Reservation has been scrapped, and will remain a thing of the past -Confirmation is to be done via PM to the host. Confirmed tracks will remain private until voting begins. -Discussion of perspective entries is allowed, however you can not say which track you have confirmed and if you are only after opinions for a track, dig up a fake alternate [but not one that is obviously fake, i mean a different track by the same artist or something along those lines] That's it, like i said i just wanted to clarify a few things. There will be a couple of minor changes through 2011, but the end game for the moderating team is to increase participation and enjoyment. We won't push through changes that are going to harm the participation level or discussion level within the forum. We aren't the enemy, we just want to make the contest enjoyable and fun for all. So if you have any suggestions [i'll repeat, the Anti-Alias measures will remain and we are not scrapping TBO] feel free to pipe up. It may be best to send one of us a PM incase we accidentally miss your suggestion.
January 20, 201114 yr so why aren't we allowed to discuss our entries again? I forget the original reason for this...
January 20, 201114 yr so why aren't we allowed to discuss our entries again? I forget the original reason for this... The main reason was really to make it easier for the mods to sift through the proposed entries in private and veto any cheap entries without a backlash distracting from the contest. Now discussion is allowed, it's just felt that restraining from revealing final confirmations until the official list is posted by the host will make for a more level playing field.
January 20, 201114 yr Author so why aren't we allowed to discuss our entries again? I forget the original reason for this... You can discuss your options, but not who you've confirmed. Like Peter said, when Tyron, OtherTom and I brought it in it was to create a level playing field.
February 3, 201114 yr Does the no covers rule still exist? If so, I wouldn't mind seeing that one disappearing - different arrangements of the same song can be so different after all - and who would realistically send a copycat arrangement of a song that's already been sent before? Le Kid's Mr Brightside is taking part in XXXI despite the original being used in the #10's Spin Off - but I wasn't sure if that rule ever covered the Spin Off's

Le Kid's Mr Brightside is taking part in XXXI despite the original being used in the #10's Spin Off - but I wasn't sure if that rule ever covered the Spin Off's  I figured it didn't count since it was a spin-off so let it through. I'd be in favour of keeping the no covers rule just...because. :P It is a SONG contest after all, and if the song has already competed then...well...yeah.
February 3, 201114 yr Fair enough, but it's one rule I've never been a fan of :P What a shame that really inventive covers can't be sent if some mundane original has already appeared in the contest.
February 3, 201114 yr Author Yeah, the spin offs don't count lol  Samples, yes. Covers are no. They were deemed not to be very inspired entries.
February 15, 201114 yr What are the rules about using artists who have appeared for other countries? It's perfectly fine - the only rule here is that you can't use any of the artists who finished top 3 in the previous contest. So next month, nobody can send Sheelah, Fefe Dobson or Neon Hitch.
February 15, 201114 yr Thanks Rich. I can send one of my possible options then. Currently have three and it's a really difficult decision which to choose.
February 15, 201114 yr Author The only restrictions we have on artists are the one Rich said and that you can't send the same act two months in a row.
