I can't believe nobody has made a topic for this already!

Its sooooooo good! When i'm watching though, i actually find myself feeling sorry for them, especially tonight where the council were knocking their homes down... They all (so far) seem pretty nice (apart from the teen boys using the 'Grabbing' process where they force themselves onto the girls and physically hit them to get a kiss etc.) other than that though, their alright... slightly mad, but who isn't? :P

Have you been watching? If so, what do you think?

i watched this last week and thought it was amazing. still need to 4od the newest one though

i actually really respect their values in that they don't drink or have sex before marriage and that but then the hole grabbin thing is a bit weird. and that girl in the first episode living in a house confused me a bit :P

Channel 4 say its a Documentary.

So it's a documentary on gypsy's (TRAVELLERS), getting married? Nice one Channel 4!!

^Its the biggest p*** take on TV  There isn't much to document  Although they touch base on some of the issues but only a small portion of the programme. I do have to question their motives though when the girl was being practically forced upon by some guy in the first episode and nothing was done to stop it and they still aired it...

Let us stop being biased dickheads and realise 'TV' and 'Reality' should be merged. Let commonsense prevail...

That said, this is the most brilliant example of a programme that makes you THINK. Not necessarily in the most forward of senses but it makes you think about MORALS and VALUES and where YOUR LIFE IS AT.

Never before on reality TV have you felt someone's UPS and their DOWNS so monumentally...

Never before on reality TV have you felt someone's UPS and their DOWNS* so monumentally...

*...And the dangers of being set on fire for the sake of flapping butterflies and lights on wedding dresses

What a complete exaggeration. Reality tv is littered with this sort of thing. Big Brother and X Factor is practically build around the ups and downs of the same contestant.

I didn't think it was that bad. Despite my housemate whittling all the way through on her 'Gypsies destroyed the farmlands' vendetta. TBH there is a lot wrong with them. They don't pay tax and they're obviously involved in dodgy dealings because christ - the dresses must cost a good 10 grand and that couple were looking at 'caravans' for £6000 odd. But they were a lot different than I've always perceived them to be. They've become more modernised and at the end of the day, the way they see the world and the morals and values they have are no different to all the religious nutjobs out there. TBH I just felt they were chavs in motorhomes.

Watched it last night, load of pish.

This is literally the best TV show ever!
Gypsies and 'nice' don't go in the same sentence. The majority of them are horrible, ignorant and hypocritical human beings. And yes I have had first hand experience with them. They do seem to pick the 'nicer' ones for the documentaries though..

LOOOL this is the best show...

i love how none of them care how they look

Should really be called "My Big, Fat, Pikey, Chav Trash Wedding" tbh.... If ANY of that lot are descended directly from the Romany I'd frankly be fukkin' amazed....

Yet again - ORANGE WOMEN... Oh, and ORANGE SIX YEAR OLDS too... charming.... :puke2:

Yeah, but Rooney, bear in mind that there's a very BIG difference between Romany Gypsies (who have a culture and heritage going back thousands of years) and Pikey Scum (who are just dolies and drop-outs)....

Massive ratings for this:

First Episode averaged 5.6million http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jan/2...-gypsy-weddings

Second Episode averaged 6million (Another 1million on +1) peaking at 8.2million! The highest rating on channel 4 since 2007 Celebrity Big Brother! http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2011/jan/2...-gypsy-weddings

Show is actually really interesting, Them wedding dresses are incredible. I Recommend to see this at least once :D

Of course. I highly doubt the majority of gypsies about in this are real gypsies. Instead they expected to be treated fairly when they don't pay tax or contribute anything to society, apart from threaten people and leave a mess. Also their hypocrisy is sooo annoying (even real gypsies). They complain that we all think gypsies are smelly horrible pikeys, yet they basically think every one of us sells drugs as they don't allow children their children to mix with other children. And yes, I am bitter towards them 'cos of several past experiences!
