April 29, 201213 yr The Greg Kurstin tracks keep reminding me of Little Boots. And when did Rick Nowels became an electro-pop producer? Last time I heard about him in the mainstream, he was co-writing heartfelt ballads with Madonna. It's obvious they are hoping this would be one of the biggest female albums of 2012, but weren't they afraid of alienating her fanbase? I'm not a big fan of the debut so I'm enjoying this, but...
April 29, 201213 yr I don't like a particular genre, if the production is good and the lyrics are well written, I'll enjoy the album. At least with the new electro sound, I won't be embarrassed to play it at full volume in the car. :P
April 30, 201213 yr Has anyone's signed deluxe edition from HMV been dispatched yet? I haven't got an e-mail saying mine has, which is really annoying. When I pre-ordered Proud by JLS it took a week or so after it was released to even be dispatched, but before that HMV have always been fine.
April 30, 201213 yr ^I got my 'it's on its way' email on the 26th. I'm hoping it lands on my doormat today!
April 30, 201213 yr It ended up arriving today. :P It's on my dad's e-mail, but he says he never got the "It's on its way" e-mail, which is weird. Anyway, gonna have a listen now. :D

April 30, 201213 yr Yep, my signed HMV copy arrived today too! :cheer: I've listened to the first half so far - I'm loving it! as did mine! :D currently five tracks into the album, it's going as brilliantly as I thought it would so far.
April 30, 201213 yr I can't see me listening to this album for as many months as I did to Family Jewels. It feels light weight, bland and homogenous with all other current pop music. I dont really see the point in it when we already have this sort of pop music.

April 30, 201213 yr Like anyone is going to believe than I am close minded..... .....and I'd prefer if there were NO albums of this particular genre. Edited April 30, 201213 yr by tonyttt31
April 30, 201213 yr Like anyone is going to believe than I am close minded..... .....and I'd prefer if there were NO albums of this particular genre. unless the first part of this post is a joke, you've just completely contradicted yourself there... but whatever. I'm enjoying the album so I'm not gunna worry about you sulking that she's not doing it your way. :)
April 30, 201213 yr I think we have different understandings of what open mindedness means. For me it means approaching a musician or an album without having a pre-concieved idea of whether you will enjoy it or not and being open to the chance that the artist may have developed or changed sufficiantly from their previous work so that a new appreciation may be warrented. I am listening to Electra Heart with this view point - in fact, I am being more open to this than if I was listening to a Katy Perry or Britney album. Being open minded doesn't mean liking everything. And, a Marina album isn't so important to my life that I would sulk if it's not to my liking. I would just listen to someone else and go back to her when she makes her third album. Edited April 30, 201213 yr by tonyttt31
April 30, 201213 yr I havent heard this yet so too anyone who has heard it,is it better than The Family Jewels?

I would just listen to someone else and go back to her when she makes her third album. I know being open minded doesn't mean having to like everything, but it looked as if you were saying every type of pop that this album seems to be part of should not exist, which I think is a ridiculous thing to say. some people like that sort of stuff (me included). you're no better than the likes of vidcapper, only you run at the sight of a synth rather than a rapper. if you ask me, it's not complete generic pop - marina's vocals are one of a kind, it's just the production which has changed from her first album to a more energetic electro style. yes, that's the sort of thing that you get in the chart nowadays, and it is a heavily recognized genre but that doesn't mean every single song part of it is the same. I havent heard this yet so too anyone who has heard it,is it better than The Family Jewels? I for one would say that it is, but looking at most reviews it doesn't look like many agree. most songs are in vein of 'primadonna' and 'radioactive' but some are more like the songs from 'the family jewels', and some are like both. anyways, as I've heard the full thing, first listen rate: 10 // Bubblegum Bitch 11 // Primadonna 09 // Lies 10 // Homewrecker 10 // Starring Role 08 // The State of Dreaming 10 // Power & Control 08 // Living Dead 09 // Teen Idle 07 // Valley of the Dolls 09 // Hypocrates 09 // Fear & Loathing 10 // Radioactive 09 // Sex Yeah 09 // Lonely Hearts Club 08 // Buy the Stars needless to say, album of the year for me so far. I'll take off my loon glases now. :P
April 30, 201213 yr After first listen, the first 8 tracks were great - then 9, 10 and 11 didn't really stick out but it picked up again for 12 onwards. Still a great album and at least on par with The Family Jewels :D

I run at the sign of a synth? Check your facts mate.
April 30, 201213 yr My album didn't arrive today :( Hopefully it comes tomorrow. I can't last much longer without it!
April 30, 201213 yr I bought the deluxe today. :D It's excellent. I love both this and The Family Jewels, I can't quite decide on a favourite yet. I think this could overtake in time though...

I dont really see the point in it when we already have this sort of pop music. I sort of agree with you, I can see where you are coming from anyway. I am enjoying the album for what it is, pop with a slight 'Marina' edge, but it's nowhere near as unique as Family Jewels (which I much prefer to be honest). I personally don't have a problem with her going a bit more 'faceless' but I can see how it might alienate people who liked Family Jewels but aren't massive pop fans. It's not snobbery at all that you don't like it, it would be if you refused to listen to it but at least you listened, not everybody is going to love Electra Heart, just as I'm sure not everybody loved Family Jewels either.
April 30, 201213 yr Oh Doug. There are a few songs on here that I'm growing to like, but as a whole it's still so disappointing. Bubblegum Bitch is the worst opening track to an album that I've heard in a long while. So bad.
