Pretty much the most anticipated new series of 2011. The early reviews sound good. Looks like it cost an absolute BOMB to make. 10 episode first season starts in April though..

CLUE: It's a well known fact that Sean Bean often dies in films and television actors. This next actor does not die very often in films and he released a big blockbuster within the last 12 months...

It'll be on Sky Atlantic no doubt, seeing as they have the exclusive license for HBO Shows :funky:
I really want to watch this, but we are on Virgin, the channel Sky Atlantic is only for Sky subs
Wow that looks awesome...shame it doesn't start till April :(

OMFG!!!!

I'm addicted to the books - On Chapter 3 part 2 now. They are immense.

Never thought I would read fantasy - but these books are just fantastic

Confusing, but pretty damn good.

It is visually absolutely beautiful. The twists at the end...wow.

4.2 million viewers in total for the premier (taking into account multiple airings), and already been given a renewal.

Might give it a quick go later, but it doesn't seem like my type of thing.

Loved it, especially that ending ... wow :o

Just seen the first episode, a great opener of a series, it had me glued from start to finish, can't wait for the next episode, and a lot of nudity. :kink:

Apparently there are 6 books in the series, the 5th book is due out this year sometime. I guess the series is going to run for 6 years, if they are covering the books.

The series is a classic in the making its original and nothing has been touched like this. And funny enough I noticed the location where the series is filmed, out of all places it was Malta.

Up to fifth episode now, probably the best one so far. Show continues with an amount of sex scenes that makes Californication seem pious, but I think they do manage to use them well to build on the story and show characters and their relations with each other. Overall I just think it's really good, not perfect, but it's a very nice fantasy/medieval universe, where as opposed to so much other fiction in the genre, it's still being driven by the characters and their relations. Especially the last episodes have seen the universe take a "shakespearesque" turn with nobody able to trust one another and everybody having hidden motives, just as one has always imagined life at medieval courts. Favourite characters so far would have to be Ned Stark and the Brothel owner (Aidan Gillen who played Carcetti in the wire). Also interesting to follow the female Targaryen, for several reasons..

Anybody else still watching?

The 7th episode was superb. I think we learned more about all of the characters in this episode that we have in the last 6! The child actors are all fantastic. For such a pivitol character Robert Baretheon had such a low key death. I hope I'm wrong but I really can't see Sean Bean survivng much longer. I hope I'm wrong though because he plays Ned so well. It looks like it's gearing up to an very interesting conclusion though.

It's brilliant but so fucking awkward to watch with parents.

Haha. The lesbian sex scene was brilliant. Even though I was a fan, it was probably a minute or so long. Don't think I could have kept a straight face had I been watching it with my parents.

Haha oh no - I definitely agree, I just had to awkwardly go through my phone during and try not to look at my Mum.

It just kept going on and on, I was watching it this morning and my brother was in the room, and I didn't know what to do with myself to make it any less awkward. That scene was hilarious, but I shudder imagine watching it with my parents. Along with True Blood, I guess it will have to be my dirty, secret late night watch.

Oh, and the last two episodes have been fantastic, the only gripe I have with the show is the cliche faux Shakespearean dialogue and accents, which can be a bit eye rolling at times; I have got used to it now though.

Another excellent episode...I won't say anything about it yet though for those of you that are watching it on Sky Atlantic!
It was, and it flew by, I was sure there was still another 15 minutes left when it ended. Waiting another week is going to be painful.

Seven episodes into this, and have to say it's absolutely brilliant... Acting, writing, directing, action, all top-notch. And, unlike Camelot, it doesn't rely just on the ability of one exceptionally good actor or actress to carry the whole thing (jeez, that Eva Green sure must be stronger than she looks....) because all the actors get an equal chance to shine.. Sean Bean and Peter Dinklage only get honourable mentions purely because they both continue to surprise me... Bean in particular, whom I've never really been a fan of, is really nailing his part...

I was disapointed that after all the build up, we didn't get to see any of the fighting...it was all tension, tension, tension...next scene, "Oh, yeah we just won, thought you should know." The ending though was an incredible moment, very visceral and upsetting. Even though the show is just following the books, I'm surprised they had the balls to kill off the top two billing actors in the first season, and it's not looking good for Drogo either.

I'm just worried the last episode won't give enough conclusion for the season, and it will just end like all the other episodes with all the storylines ongoing, leaving us hanging for a whole year.
