Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner is set to release his debut solo album next month.

The singer has written the soundtrack for Submarine, a Richard Ayoade-directed British film which was recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

A spokesman for the Arctic Monkeys' label Domino Records told HitFix that the album will be released digitally in the UK and US on March 14.

The representative added that the record will be a "completely separate release" from the new Arctic Monkeys album, which the band have started work on with producer James Ford.

According to the report, the tracklisting for 'Submarine' has yet to be finalised, but tracks such as 'Stuck On The Puzzle', 'Hiding Tonight', 'Glass In The Park, 'It’s Hard To Get Around The Wind' and 'Piledriver Waltz' all appeared in the film.

The film is based on the debut novel of the same name by Joe Dunthorne and follows the story of a 15-year-old boy who is struggling to lose his virginity while struggling to keep his parents together

Turner has previously worked with Ayoade on the Arctic Monkeys' 2008 live music DVD At The Apollo. The IT Crowd actor also directed the music videos for 'Fluorescent Adolescent', 'Crying Lightning' and 'Cornerstone'.

Looking forward to this; naturally if it's Turner related. Plus it's affiliated with Richard Ayoade so it's DOUBLE WIN.

Pretty much THIS.

Really hope it doesn't disappoint. Not long to wait at all though, March 14th!

Can't wait! Shame he's not working with Miles Kane again however. :(

I'm guessing it's still out next week. The film comes out next Friday so I assume they'll be out the same week?

I think it sounds pretty good too, particularly the last couple of minutes!

leaked.

i have link if anyone wants.

I bought it on Tuesday and really quite like it. I also picked up the novel that this new film is based on and it's bloody brilliant - like some kind of mildly autistic Adrian Mole for the 21st century. Hoping to acquaint myself well with both before going to see the film.
'Stuck On The Puzzle' and 'Piledriver Waltz' are works of PURE GENIUS. Overall though, the whole EP is extremley nice and basically what I expected, TURNER4KING
Will give this a listen later on tonight!
