Bought this finally the other day. Liked all the 4 singles and am rather impressed with the album for a debut. Still very much a Bunnymen meets Shoegaze affair. I expect there will be some lazy White Lies comparisons around but that doesn't do them justice. Anyone else heard this?

Absolutely loved Surfacing and O Maybe I was decent but the other 2 singles were disappointing.
Yes, I got the album this week as well and I've been impressed by it. After all, what's wrong with sounding like Echo and the Bunnymen?
I saw them a few weeks ago, nearly fell asleep, proper boring.
So.. That Surfacing song.. Like it. But the lyrics sound familiar. Is it a cover or tribute to Mama's Dream A Little Dream since it's not entirely the same lyrics.

The sleeve notes describe it as "a derivative work based on Dream A Little Dream Of Me".

I like these... Good band.. Want to see them play in London... I dont really mind if a band don't really "do" much on-stage.... Opeth stand pretty much like statues, and yet their gigs are absolutely astounding....

They did play in London about 2 weeks ago, it wasnt really that they didnt do much on stage, the music was boring, there was no energy put into the performance, especially when the two later bands were full of energy and got everyone moving.

In other words - it wasn't their gig....LOL They've got their own show coming up at Heaven on the 16th, I'd assume they'll probably put in a bit more of an effort for that one....

Some bands just aren't the "everyone get up and bounce" sort of band though, My Bloody Valentine were a bit like that, they were more the "let's just blast everyone into submission with glorious noise" sort of band......

Precisely.... It's actually seeming like The Bunnymen are fast becoming one of the most influential bands on the current Indie Rock scene... I definitely hear their influence in bands like White Lies, Coldplay, Editors, Interpol, and now these guys........

I don't get the shoegaze reference. I did hear 'Surfacing' and wasn't bothered by it at all. At least they're not as bad as White Lies.

There's definitely an "Early 90s" influence dude....

Yeah, but there was one to The Big Pink too - I'll maybe give them a listen on Spotify then, can't judge them on one track.
Sorry guys but what's wrong with White Lies?

Nothing as far as I'm concerned, I dig the new album for the most part, your beef is with Richie....

It really makes me laugh how some people on this Forum seem to be hell-bent on setting off some sort of "White Lies Vs...." thing.. In another thread it was "White Lies Vs Muse", here it's "White Lies Vs Chapel Club"... I guess the next one's gonna be "White Lies Vs The St Winifred's School Choir"...

yeah but Chapel Club werent like that at all, they were boring, if you want a band to blast everyone into submission with glorious noise you want to see HEALTH live.

I've seen A Place To Bury Strangers recently.... That was pretty intense.... ;)

Chapel Club are supporting Suede when they perform their first three albums over three nights in May. So, if they're good on the first night, I'll make sure I'm in time to see them on the other two nights as well.
