I can't wait for next race, we had so many great races in first half. Just hope that new updates on Renault will work rightly.

A superb qualifying session at Spa, Maldonado is a huge prick though for swiping Hamilton, what on earth was he thinking?! :manson: McLaren really screwed up with Button.

Very exciting qualifying session, really disappointed for Force India though - I think they could have got both in top 10 :(

Oh definitely. With Schumacher and Sutil crashing, and Di Rest and Button messing up it's given an opportunity to some of the others. I'm delighted for Jaime, I hope he can get some good points tomorrow from 6th.

Maldonado given a 5 place grid penalty.

Oh! I didn't know we had a Formula 1 thread on here. I was wondering if that was where the F1 in Nick's name came from! My dad loves F1, so I've kind of picked up that fondness for it from him even if I'm not as much of a fanatic as him! I rarely sit through entire races although I really should because once I bother to sit down and watch I'm hooked. It's a great sport, Formula 1.

I actually haven't sat through a race since Australia 09.

Frustration at our woeful car doesn't help matters much either.

And WTF is with Senna now driving a Renault????? What happened to Nick?

I see, thank you kindly.

I'm hoping Renault do the sane thing and start ploughing money into next years car. I'm still pissed that our trick exhaust got banned. That's the second time we've had a part banned because nobody could replicate it effectively. (See Mass Dampers 2006) It's predominantly why I despise McLaren and why I won't even consider buying anything from one of their sponsors, they are the spitting image of sore losers and bad winners.[/tangent]

Hopefully next year Kubica will be well enough to drive again, he's had his last op and all is well according to the team ^_^, and we can get back to where this car should have been, up on the podium. Petrov needs to go, he has brilliant moments but he is way too much like Fisichella in that his brilliant moments are too infrequent for a supposedly top flight team, I personally thought Fisi suited Force India very well. It showed him in a great light when he pulled that poor car into the points.

That's not the biggest reason why Nick is not anymore driver for them. They needed more money and Senna had that . If u look @ statistics Nick had more points than Petrov before Belgium GP. He was out from three races, while Petrov only from 1. So Nick has lost more points coz of crushes etc.. He was better than Petrov in races. They only needed money, they pushed out good driver coz of that which is embarrassing.

Grandprix.com says Heidfeld is only confirmed as being out for Belgium and Italy. Crashing is not a way to get in the good books of a team that until Kubica's crash was starting to think they could be in the championship fight. They expected Heidfeld to perform better than he has done. If Lotus Renault needs money then why shouldn't they kick out the under-performing replacement for someone who can bring in cash? It makes perfect business sense.

His retirement in Germany was because Buemi forced him off the track (Buemi got a 5 place grid penalty in the next race) but Nick had already had a drive through for causing a collision with Di Resta, his Hungary retirement was very odd, his car caught fire, never seen anything quite like it!

It's a Renault, they aren't exactly known for engine reliability :heehee:

I do love that a Dacia comes to Heidfeld's rescue. It's amusing to see the budget brand come to the rescue of it's parent firm.

But they pushed out the driver who is faster than their second driver. When u look at Pertov's qualification results he was mostly in top 10 and he only archived 32pts (before Belgium GP), while Nick with bad qualification starts always did better progress during the race and he archived 34pts. That was unfair move from them.

You are assuming that both drivers are on a financial level playing field. If the team are having cash flow issues now that Renault only supplies engines and Petrov brings financial backers he becomes a more valuable asset. If the money that Senna would bring in couldn't cover the loss of Petrov's cash and cover the money that the team need then it makes no sense at all to get rid of him over someone that is far more experienced yet only brought home 2 more points.

I expected Heidfeld to run rings around Petrov, not score just two more points. That's nothing. A single race could widen the gap by more than that in Petrov's favour.

But Nick would have around 15pts more than Petrov that he didn't retirement 3 times. I agreed with all that Nick didn't been on his best level, but still he did better job than Petrov in first half of season.
Nick was no where near points scoring finishes in his last two retirements so I'm not quite sure where you get that figure from. He was well down the pack in Germany and wasn't in the points in Hungary.
I'll accept the Hungary retirement wasn't his fault, but he hasn't had all mechanical retirements and someone of his experience should not be having scuffles with Di Resta and Buemi. The initial pace of this car showed that it would be miles ahead of those two. So the fact that he had collisions with those pair in the same race questions his so called ability. I know you love Nick, but he's been disappointing. I may not have watched much of this season but I do keep up-to-date with Renault's goings on and I expect Nick to have done far better, no doubt the team also did.

In Canada he was in top 6 or top 5 when he retirement coz of crush with Kobayashi, that's like 10 pts lost. In Germany he started 11th but Buemi crushed into him, points were not that far.

In Hungary yes he was very far from points.
