The opening track off an album widely regarded as one of the best of 2010. They only had the two songs nominated, you'd think the other is certain to be above this.

New York's Yeasayer released their second album 'Odd Blood' at the beginning of 2010. This was the third and final single released from it, after 'Ambling Alp' and 'O.N.E'.

If a band over the last 15 years have released music from so many genre's then Groove Armada have been one of the most prominent. This was the second single release from their album 'Black Light' and featured Fenech-Soler and SaintSaviour.

Another song from earlier 2010, this is the first of Caribou's two entries.

The song whose inclusion caused a bit of controversy over whether a rap song should be included. It's certainly alternative from the mainstream and he's adored by indie/alt publications, it's also a song which was loved by many voters so is worthy of an inclusion.

It's great to find these songs on top (so far):

38 Fever Ray 'Mercy Street'

37 LCD Soundsystem 'I Can Change'

32 Delphic 'Halcyon'

30 Delphic 'Acolyte'

29 Beach House 'Zebra'

27 Groove Armada 'Paper Romance'

Hmm, I suspect not one of my nominations has made the top 40.

DAYUM, FORGOT TO VOTE! Beautiful songs in here so far though - shame no Metronomy, Chapel Club or Foals in :( mebbes nxt year! Found a few treats here aswell.

US band HEALTH released a remix album last year, this was the lead track from it and the only track that wasn't a remix of someone else's song.

Taken from her debut album 'Stridulum ii', an expansion on earlier EP 'Stridulum', 'Night' became one of 2010's more critically acclaimed songs.

Surprisingly, Marina was only nominated once. Equally surprisingly, it was with 'Numb', not the song I'd have thought her most popular but a good song and a good showing nontheless.

Taken from their 5th album 'Heligoland' Massive Attack were on typically good form with this, with vocals coming from Hope Sandoval, lead singer of Mazzy Star.

Just missing out on the top 20 is the 9 minute epic opener from James Murphy's 3rd album 'This is Happening', certainly one of his finest songs yet.

Another of BuzzJack's favourites, Joanna Newsom kicks off the top 20 with '81', from her much anticipated follow-up to 2006's 'Ys'.

Top vote: Mancunian Giraffe (4th)

Gorillaz came back with their long awaited 3rd album this year, and whislt it didn't have any mainstream standouts that 'Demon Days' did it was still packed with excellent songs, this included, the first single from it featuring Mos Def and Bobby Womack.
