I just with Britons appreciated the lovely Miss Swift  as much as Americans do.

That will never happen. Teenage girls here aren't going to look up to some bland and generic Nordic-looking blonde when there's women like Cheryl Cole about. For once we should be somewhat glad about her existence.

wow iwondder how much gaga has sold in the past 3 hours, would be interesting.the annoying thing about the friday release is that we'll never know what it would have done in one week - it will be split in two weeks!!

If we're very lucky we'll get her midweek Sun-Thu sales. :) Adding them to the sales of these 2 days we'll have her sales in one week.

Yes but you can hear the P!nk song in it too. I am not the only one to say it.

From what I've read, you're the first one to come up with this comparaison, while I've seen about 100000 posts drawing a comparaison with "Express yourself". Sorry...

irish itunes is much better than the brit one atm - adele no1, martin solveig top 5, noah and the whale top20 and the rubberbandits top 40!!!!
Not surprised that Gaga is so high already. Still, she shouldn't trouble the top 5 on Sunday. She might get top 10 though.

If she gets #1 in say, half an hour, she will have sold more in about 4 hours than any other song has done in the last 48 hours

I'm still hesistant to say it will go Top 10, but the speed at which she's rising, it's incredible :o

but the overall sales would have a different phenomena from a sunday release compared to fridays release?!

What is the record time to get to #1??

Didn't Cheryl Cole enter at number 1? With "Fight For This love"

For GaGa to be number 1 this week, she would need to sell in 1,5 days what "Champion" sold in 7 days. It's not impossible, she basically needs her popbar to be 5 times bigger than "Champion"'s popbar by tomorrow night.

She entered at #4. I don't exactly remember how long it took her to be #1, but she was released at midnight, when less people are online to download songs. There are obviously more people up in the afternoon so you can sell more and rise quicker on Itunes.

 No. :P

Why the "rolling on the floor" smiley? He was simply asking a question, no need to sound so full of yourself.

Matt Cardle entered at #1.

As I said earlier, 'fastest time to #1 on iTunes' is a total non-record.

 No. :P

How is that so funny :drama: Still anyway if Gaga gets anywhere close to the lead Cheryl had then she will have a gigantic hit.

Who mentioned anything about her appealing to *girls*? ;)

It is precisely the sweet girl-next-door type that appeals to me most - that's partly why I like Katie Melua, Kylie, Katherine Jenkins, etc.

It took Cheryl a bit of a while to get to #1 because that time Alexandra Burke was at #1 with 'Bad Boys' with a huge lead over others. Cheryl got to #1 in about 11 hours IIRC.

Yup, that's about right I think !

Something we can actually agree on

Call her bland, but I'd hardly say 'generic' is the right word to describe her. I also don't agree with the bits about how teenage girls wouldn't look up to her when we have Cheryl Cole, but I won't get into this as it's OT

I know someone who lives in America, and trust me her fanbase there is basically teenage girls who "idolise" her for some reason. And probably a few pervy old men like you. :)
