Woo Lady GaGa number 3 already, but just like The Black Eyed Peas she will fall, and then climb again when it gets proper promotion. BEP got to number 2 on iTunes on its first week of release, GaGa will probs get to no.1 as she's much bigger, but will probs be top 20 officially this week and top ten next week unless she has a suprise performance on the BRITS

She isn't at the Brits this year, she's going on an American talk show on Tuesday so she'll be in the US.

She is performing 'Born This Way' at the Grammy's on Sunday though, not sure whether she'll get much of a boost in the UK from that, but i'm sure she'll be getting a lot of media coverage over here with what she wore etc. :)

Fastest climb to number one is a non-record for various reasons. If the top song one week is selling 50k per week it's going to take a lot less time for a new song to overtake than if the top song were selling over 100k....

Anyone got a sneaky feeling she will end up being number 1 for weeks.

No. I thought Jessie J was gonna be #1 for a few weeks and genuinely didn't think 'Champion' would be #1 (as high as #2 yes, but not #1). At least it's proved that "to radio, to retail" does work as people search for music as soon as they hear it rather than waiting up to 6 weeks to buy a track - the perfect way of encouraging illegal downloading. :lol:

So by the looks of it, 'Born This Way' is going to enter inside the top 15 this Sunday - especially if it gets to no. 1 with a massive lead. Then it has a strong chance of #1 next week, and I've not even heard the track yet (it seems fairly obvious that this is likely to happen now).

I still don't know who's bigger. BEPs or Gaga? They have about the same succes. 4 #1s from their last 2 eras. BEP have I Gotta Feeling which is bigger than anything Gaga has or will ever do. Then again, she has the album sales and 3 singles above 800k....

Gaga >>> BEP just slightly, but they are both juggernauts.

Okay, I'm done...back to the itunes chart. The grammies will help her in the US definitely. Here? Maybe a little bit.

From what I've read, you're the first one to come up with this comparaison, while I've seen about 100000 posts drawing a comparaison with "Express yourself". Sorry...

Just because more people mention EY doesn't mean that there isn't similarities to P!nk, i have read quite a few people compare it to P!nk.

Jessie J wins the Critics Choice at the BRITS, so GaGa will have to settle for number 2 that week

Considering most people already know she's won it I can't see it having that much of an effect.

Under The Sheets shot up the charts to... err... #66 after Ellie's award was 'announced'

this is off topic but every one is on about lady gaga so.... shes number 1 on itunes in sweden :L

but she's not performing- she's just collecting the award, just doing that doesn't usually have the same impact as a performance, or a performance and an award

it depends if she's front-loaded or not really, although right now I'd be pretty surprised if she wasn't number 1 next week

Gaga is, without a doubt, bigger. Yes, BEP had I Gotta Feeling and two other mega hits in the same album, but Bad Romance and Poker Face were bigger than any of them with the exception of I Gotta Feeling. Also, there's the little fact that, um, BEP are flopping with their new album and, to a record company, that's what matters at the end of the day: ALBUM SALES. So yeah, Gaga, currently, isn't even on the same level as the BEP.

Yeah tbh, I just think the Brits will mean a Number 1 album for Jessie, rather than a HUGE surge in single sale.

It depends how far ahead Lady GaGa is, she probably crash the pop bars by the end of tonight, after seeing how Gaga is faring, I can see Jessie around #2 now.

I wonder, will Lady GaGa ever have a song enter the chart at #1?

JD went 3-1-1-1

PF went 30-26-28-24-22-15-3-3-4-1-1-1

BR went 14-10-11-8-5-3-1-3-3-1

Telephone went 30-41-62-82-74-67-55-48-49-42-39-39-34-37-31-12-1-1

And BTW will obviously not enter at #1 this week but will almost certainly be #1 next week. If she goes for a conventional (ie. not really late in the week) release strategy for 'Judas' that could net her a #1 début.

(Note The Fame also didn't début at #1, it started off 3-4-4-5-13-7-5-4-8-7-3-1-1-1-1 and then obviously returned to #1 for three further weeks some time after that)

Surely you can't really have a record for the fastest climber to Number 1 as the song may have greater or less competition at the time ?

The BEPs new album isn't flopping, it's sold almost 300k. That's good, no matter who it is. Sure, that's pretty crappy for BEP standards. But, both are pretty much the biggest juggernauts in music atm. 2009 showed that. 5 of the top 10 year end songs were them....domination.

BEPs new album is selling relatively poorly for their standards because they rushed it and released way too early.

Their next album should bring back to their HUGE sales standards. Another million seller if they wait a year or two.

Lady Gaga, BEPs >>>> everybody else tbh.

I Gotta Feeling = 1,140k

MMH = 775k

BBP = 680k

The Time = 530k

Poker Face = 1,023k

Bad Romance = 890k

JD = 830k

Telephone = 600k?

Good stuff.

I'd say Rihanna was close, but she's not quite as big as they are

Yes, I'd agree.

She's not far behind, but nobody really beats those 2 when it comes to sales nowadays....

Bruno Mars could challenge in future imo.

So far:

JTWYA = 840k

Grenade = 410k

Pretty good for his first 2 singles....

Look out for Bruno reaching BEP/Lady Gaga heights soon.

Black Eyed Peas new album is the definition of poor work! Not going to compare both BEP and GaGa, but i used to love Black Eyed Peas in Elephunk (and Monkey Business) and now they have started using autotune...i don't know. Nowadays, they try just to sell and not create anything memorable and good!

Thing is, The E.N.D. was only on about 300k by the time Meet Me Halfway was getting exposure, and was seen as a relative flop at the time. It was only due to the success of that single and due to it being the festive period that it made 1m at all. And that was six months after The E.N.D. was released.

The Time has sold more than Telephone, I think. Or it will do, anyway.

In terms of quality, it goes:

Meet Me Halfway>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>The Time>>Boom Boom Pow>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>I Gotta Feeling>>>>>>>>>Telephone>>>Bad Romance=Just Dance>Poker Face

I still haven't heard Born This Way yet. Although, at work today, before the lunch break, someone said "There are likely to be less cars on the road, because Lady Gaga's new song is coming out", and they were actually being serious!!!! :o :drama:

Is Born This Way a pop song with dance beats, in a minor key, with a tempo of around 120 bpm and involves Gaga repeating something over and over again? :lol:
