The music video for 'Judas' was filmed on April 2–3, 2011, and was directed by Lady GaGa and her creative director, Laurieann Gibson.

 

GaGa called the filming and directing "The most exciting artistic moment of my career. It's the greatest work we've done." The following Sunday, GaGa had tweeted, "Directing Judas video with my sister @boomkack is the most exciting artistic moment of my career. It's the greatest work we've done."

 

Gibson explained the idea behind the video: "I will tell you now, first off, I'm Christian, and my career is evidence of God in my life, and I think that most people are already thinking about GaGa and the blasphemy and they're premeditating the approach and I think they'll be very shocked to find out how huge and really groundbreaking the message is and how freeing the message is for all the right reasons. And it's really going to shock the world."

 

The cast included Norman Reedus as Judas, while GaGa plays the part of Mary Magdalene. Gibson and GaGa wanted to make sure the video's direction was perfect, so they directed it themselves.

 

Gibson said she took a moment before agreeing, as she had just wrapped up work on GaGa's Monster Ball HBO special, premiering in May, but she "Couldn't resist. It's a phenomenal video: really powerful, really impactful. She's such a strong, committed artist. Her loyalty to me is something I will be forever grateful for. We're spiritually connected. We need each other... and 'Judas' is ultimately a representation of our true bond." Gibson explained that with this video, "'We've created a new Jerusalem", referring to the setting of the Biblical story. The shock value in the video is purposefully added, but ultimately the story is about oppression; and about following your heart and the glory of being free.

If the rumours are true, then the Video should premiere on Tuesday (Tomorrow), but there's been no confirmation of this.

 

Hopefully we'll be seeing it sometime this week...

I've noticed that (not just on here, but on Twitter etc) some people have been highlighting comparisons between 'Judas' and 'Bad Romance'/'Poker Face', and i've found this Mash Up of all three on YT.

Ok, i can given an opinion and say i do like this song. But i don't think Born this way or Judas are the best i have ever heard from her though.

I think this song is such a mess. It has some really good moments like the production near the beginning (around 22 secs) and some of the 80s-esque chorus, but it really is just a poor version of Bad Romance where nothing GaGa attempts really works. It's a case of just trying too hard I think. I'm disappointed because I was under the impression Judas was going to save the world, and here I am listening to The Fame and preferring pretty much ANYTHING on it over this.

Well, i played it to my Mum again and she said it has grown on her :o

Even if we do see it this week, she may not get number 1 :o :( The sophomore slump has hit her a bit sadly - though not as extreme as some cases luckily! Can't wait to see the vid asap though, she may still be bale to nab the number 1 if it causes enough controvesy seeing as it's a fairly quiet week (Wretch32 seems to have slowed, Tracy Chapman and her bloody Fast Car is in front of Judas too :lol:)
