February 16, 201114 yr Author 6. Yep I'd heard that the 1999 compilation had some tracks missing, which seems a bit pointless. I didn't realise the 2000 one had a UK release. I still remember buying the 2001 compilation in WH Smiths in Swansea about a week after the contest! We were on a family holiday in Porthcawl and must have been visiting for the day. 39. Wow :o My EOY #1 that year was actually World On Fire by Sarah McLachlan! Shapeshifters' Lola's Theme was #2 and then an array of Corrs and Delta songs followed  The highest Eurovision song was Julie & Ludwig at #12 I believe, with Ruslana a couple of spots behind. 06 - My dad bought it for me, so it must have been available here somewhere, probably WH Smith. WH Smith was where I got most of my early Eurovision compilations from, 2001-2003 all came from there, then I got 2004 and 2005 from MVC before I started buying them online. 39 - Only three songs from that year's contest made my EOY chart actually :o . Ruslana (#7), Anjeza Shahini (#37) and Zeljko Joksimovic (#44)

I think the 2006 one may have come out on the same day as Daz Sampson's Teenage Life single as I recall buying them together, probably to much disgust from the staff on the till  39. I had Julie & Ludwig (#12), Ruslana (#15) and Lena Philipsson (#24) but I only did a top 40. Definitely not a vintage year, but not a disaster either, at least the winner was brilliant (and was the first time I ever won money on anything - I put £5 on her at 9/1 the month before the contest :funky:)

The most memorable was when I bought Nadia's A Little Bit Of Action :drama: :heehee: . 39 - The top 2 was pretty great that year, and it was the first, and so far only time my favourite won. So many other favourites of mine made the top 10 also. The only disappointments that year for me were Belarus and Estonia failing to qualify :(

I can imagine, who would buy that out of choice :kink: I think buying both the CD & DVD single of Scooch's Flying The Flag at the same time provoked the most uncomfortable reaction  39. I didn't like Lane Moje to be honest, my pre-contest favourites have won in a few years now - 2001, 2004, 2009 and 2010. The 2006-2008 winners really weren't to my taste at all...The winner I was most happy with is most definitely Satellite, I was backing it all the way since about March, even though a lot of people were 'Germany will never manage it, and she has terrible vocals'!

I hid my shame with Scooch by buying both formats online  39 - I've been relatively happy with the winners every year apart from 2001, 2007 and 2008, but it was only 2004 that my pre-contest favourite won. I think I put Hera down as my prediction for last year's winner  . Lena's victory was only obvious to me once she performed, the crowd went wild for it! If you say so :P 39. 2002 and 2008's winners were crap for me, I really can't understand why either one won. I wasn't keen on Sertab, Lordi and Marija Serifovic's songs musically but I can appreciate why they won. Really!?! Hera was never going to do anything in the final! Although it was obvious she'd trample all over the competition (Tom Dice aside) in the worst semi-final ever. I was always confident that she'd do a lot better than her haters were hoping that she'd do, but even so I think I predicted 2nd for her just before the contest as I wasn't certain that the juries would get on board with it. I never had any doubt that she'd win the public vote, it was already smashing around Europe before the contest...

The Hera loon in me took over last year :kink: . Je Ne Sais Quoi being performed at the end of that semi was superb, after all the utter trash that had preceeded it, it was absolutely amazing  . I can't remember where I had Lena in my prediction, probably about 5th. I know I had Iceland first and Denmark in second...

No doubt, but I thought that the song, and her accent were pretty awful. Plus the three songs I cared most for came in 2nd and both joint 3rd, so that further rubbed salt into the wound. I agree, it was contemporary sure but it was so monotone and boring, the song never really goes anywhere. Shady Lady definitely should have won, or Maria! Oh dear :heehee: I definitely agree with that, that semi was painful viewing for the most part but Hera massively saved it at the end. Well you weren't too far off with Germany and Denmark :D So many people were still predicting Lena to come bottom half, even despite Satellite already being a major European hit in a lot of countries pre-contest, I found it very bizarre.

Shady Lady would have been an awesome winner. I suppose Satellite would either have been a hit or a miss, it certainly wasn't ever destined for a mid-table result. Thank goodness it was a hit :D
