Its weird to imagine such a confident FELLA like Hits to go all teary-eyed to Adele.

In other news I also prefer Britney single's UK chart run and great to see Two Door Cinema Club in there. Didn't think they were much up your street. Did 'Something Good Can Work' do much damage in your chart? Gosh, I think I'll give their album a spin. Good times!

Cheers Andy :D

Yes, I'm a real SLUSH PUPPY at heart.

As for Britney Spears, will you still be preferring the 'HIAM' UK chart run when it goes 06-08-18-26-35-23-07-01-? :D Two Door Cinema Club have now scored three top 20 hits in my chart including 'What You Know' although this is their lowest charting single. The others are:

'Something Good Can Work' #12

'Come Back Home' #14

Yes, the good times never end in this chart. ^_^

Well, there is love for You Me At Six - just not as much when compared to the top 29. :P Oh, and no love for 'Someone Like You'? :(

I'm sorry, love, but Hold It Against Me will not be going anywhere near no Top 10.

:drama:

Cheers Juran Juran :D

I take it you're not an Adele loon then? :( How can you not love Adele (or love Adele even more) after her stunning Brits performance. Personally, I'm really pleased that Adele is getting excellent success with '21' because it's a more solid album than '19' imo and she's bagged herself two #1 hits for me in the space of a month (three in total as 'Chasing Pavements' was also #1 for me in January 2008).

I agree about You Me At Six - easily their best single to date. Personally, I prefer 'Born This Way' even with its awkward rap.

Noooooooooooo. Don't get me wrong. Adele is lovely. It's the song isn't even a single yet and your pre-release chart is there without Someone Like You in it! I love Adele, Set Fire To The Rain (or whatever it's called) is amazing from what I remember and Rolling In The Deep is AMAZING.

Shame that IMO her two dullest singles/clearly going to be singles are gonna be her trademarks. :( Don't get me wrong, but for me...nothing will top Hometown Glory!

Born This Way is a great song, but she's done better IMO. :P

Times are changing and this could eventually result in tracks entering my chart without even appearing in my Pre-Release chart for even 1 week. That's what has happened in the case of 'Someone Like You'. It might not have been confirmed as an official single (yet ^_^ ) but it might as well be as it's become the new UK #1 "single" and looking set to stay there for at least 2 weeks.

Iirc, I charted 'Love The Way You Lie' before it was confirmed as a single but it did enter the Pre-Release Chart beforehand. I agree that 'Set Fire To The Rain' is easily one of the highlights from '21' and would be a worthy single choice - but preferably single #3 and let 'Someone Like You' enjoy its moment in the limelight.

Hmm, 'Hometown Glory' was alright and even though it has that unforgettable piano melody in the intro (that's always being used in TV programmes), the overall song imo doesn't compare to my fave tracks on Adele's latest album.

Totally agree about Lady GaGa. She's done well to get to no. 5 as I do think it's a decent song just slightly spoilt by the rap and that overuse of the "drag, queen" bit. It's still peaked higher than 'Alejandro' (#7) and 'LoveGame' (#10).

Cheers Richard :D

01 (--) Adele - Someone Like You (01) [1 wk] Gorgeous #1  She's really living up to her hype this year

Isn't she just? Like I mentioned in your chart thread, I honestly didn't think this time last week that 'Someone Like You' would end up going to no. 1 in my chart this week. Just shows how much of an impact Adele has had following her Brit Awards performance. I'm so glad to see the track officially no. 1 in the UK and selling over 110k. :D As I've also mentioned, I bought '21' too so I can be added to the ever growing list of 665k people who have bought the album since its release 4 weeks ago. That in itself is impressive; a January album release selling 665k in four weeks. ^_^

05 (--) Lady GaGa - Born This Way (05) [1 wk] #5! Onwards and upwards or do you think it will peak here?

It really depends on several factors, how much this weeks new releases impact my chart next week. How good the video to 'Born This Way' is (yes, music videos can have a major impact on how much you like a song). I suppose 'BTW' could climb but at this moment in time I don't see it going to #1 in my chart.

10 (--) Claydee & Dimension-X - Call Me (10) [1 wk] What on earth is this? :o

It's a dance track which went top 10 in Cyprus and Greece a few weeks back and entered the Hitstastic European Top 30. Tom Kay approves (or at least he said he liked the track in the HET30 thread).

27 (--) Sara Bareilles - King Of Anything (27) [1 wk] Interesting to see this here! Obviously it's got nothing on Love Song but it's decent enough...

The good ol' release schedule. :D I'm aware this song has been around for an eternity but having finally made its way onto the UK release schedule, I reminded myself of how the song went and thus it charts at #27. You're right though, it's no 'Love Song' which peaked at #4 in my chart back in 2008.

5. Music videos don't really ever impact how much I like a song, I barely watch them. I still haven't seen the videos to over half of the UK top 40  I'll watch Gaga's of course as they tend to be epics but I doubt it will help it up my chart, I can't ever really remember an occasion where a video has helped a song up my chart.

10. I downloaded it! But didn't like it much. Listened to it a few times but I can't really remember much about it apart from it's vaguely like a forgettable Edward Maya song (imo of course).

27. I think I charted it last May! There's no need for me to go into Love Song's legacy on my chart, you know it already :kink:

I suppose, with this new On Air/On Sale thing you don't want to seem out of date! But I did like the fact that you had a pre-release chart and sort of frontloaded hyped up chart runs. Made for something different. :P

I love the piano intro of Hometown Glory. Gives me goosebumps every time I hear it. The whole song in my opinion is just stunning! Cold Shoulder is also brilliant for me...I think I charted them both #5 & #2 respectively so looking back, they should have both made #1!

BTW, I'm not sure if you noticed in my siggie Hits? But I'm (fingers crossed) bringing back my chart on Friday! For some reason I'm quite excited about this...

Agreed, complete Drag Queen overuse! :( Alejandro and LoveGame are probably my two favourite GaGa singles! I find that most of her tracks get a tad overplayed. (Despite being clearly amazing...)

5. Usually in the mornings when I'm having my breakfast, I tend to put on one of the music channels and just change over if a track I don't particularly like comes on. Sometimes a cracking video really can make the song much better - I think everbody thought that last year when 'Telephone' was released. That video was so anticipated and because it managed to live up to the hype, the track got a massive boost in sales to the point it rocketed 12-01.

10. "call me, oh won't you call me, i'm feeling lonely, i wanna ahh ahh ahh ahh" <--- the only bit you need to know. :D

27. I remember when you were charting it. Was it a hit in America at the time or was it just an album track? Does seem strange that they would leave it so long to release a single in the UK. Then again, maybe the record company knew it wouldn't be a monster hit so perhaps that'll explain the reason for its slow UK release.

5. Telephone peaked at #6 in my chart in December 2009, as an album track, hanging around the top ten for a few weeks over xmas. The video was amazing but it didn't particularly do anything for the song in my chart, maybe stopped it falling so quickly? The song was still exactly the same to me! The main thing about videos is that they give the songs more exposure obviously, I guess the 12-1 peak can be half attributed to the video and half attributed to the increased exposure of the song through this. Doesn't look like the video being released has done Britney much favours, but then I don't have any music channels. Is it getting regular play yet?

27. It was just something I stumbled across on MySpace somehow  It became a hit in the US 3 months after I first charted it and in the UK a good 6 or 7 months later. It's not the sort of song that usually does well in the UK so I was a bit worried for it, but glad it eventually made it into the top 5 for her to claim her inevitable one hit wonder status. Better than having a no hit wonder status :D

I've always had my own chart rules to allow my chart to have some form of order. By that I mean not just charting everything as soon as I hear it. Otherwise there could be a massive week for new releases where they could all be #1 contenders but I'd have to place them into an order I'm happy with. By spacing out the releases (going off the release schedule - but sometimes entering singles earlier anyways) it means more tracks get the peaks they deserve, imo.

The way I compile my chart will never change - it's been like this since January 2004, there's no chance of the format changing now. It would totally screw up my Top 40 of All Time chart (which has all my chart data from 2004 up to 2010).

'Hometown Glory' never made my top 20 (can't remember if I even charted that song). 'Cold Shoulder' made my top 10 peaking at #7.

I have sigs turned off. I know I have my own sig but sometimes the really long iLoon type sigs slow my computer down as it attempts to load all these different images. You should be excited Juran Juran, your personal chart is an event waiting to happen. :D

Really? I'd definitely say they were GaGa's weakest two singles. Oh well, each to their own. :D

Try loading them all on your phone. My main means of access to the Internet! :P

I can see why you'd think that about them, but for me, Alejandro's subtlety (if that's a word) and LoveGames pure pop simplicity make them gods to my ears.

To be honest, I don't use my mobile that much for internet (purely because I'm on the go and don't really find time until at home in the evenings).

'Alejandro' was good in an Ace Of Base Swedish pop 1993 kinda way. The video was horrendous though. Not that the video doesn't change my opinion of the song but it did make me change the channel everytime it was played on The Box, MTV Hits, 4Music, etc... hence listening to the song less. 'LoveGame' really should've been kept as an album track as that's my opinion of the song when compared to 'Just Dance'. 'Poker Face' and 'Paparazzi'. In fact, it broke what would've been 4 consecutive no. 1 singles in my chart for Lady GaGa with 'Bad Romance' ultimately being the most successful.

Oh, and subtlety is a word. :P

5. Yes, I completely agree that the video to 'Telephone' really helped sell the single. Especially considering when it first premiered, I remember MTV Hits were playing the full 9 minute version. It was released around the time when Black Eyed Peas released the video to 'Imma Be Rocking That Body' - 2 music videos in 20 minutes!!! Of course Lady GaGa was riding high following the massive success of 'Bad Romance' too. The video to 'Hold It Against Me' is really bog-standard. I'm not saying it's crap but I expected more from the video considering the hype. That's probably why the single hasn't rocketed back up iTunes. Same with 'What The Hell' by Avril Lavigne. However, the music video (that I never thought I'd see on UK music channels) for 'Who's That Chick' does seem to have given the track a sales boost. So this further proves that a unique looking music video will do wonders. The video to 'Born This Way' was supposed to premiere tomorrow but apparantly it's going to be next Monday instead. Only time will tell if the video provides 'BTW' with a sales boost.

27. Oh, so you charted it first? :D I should've guessed. I thought it has charted in America and that's where you'd became aware of the song. 'Love Song' was released in 2008 - for me, a great year for different genres. I know that the UK charts were painfully slow at times but I still reckon it was "filter control" and only the best (or relatively good) songs were getting high up the chart. 2010 was disappointing in the number of non-#1 hits entering at no. 1 and plummeting d0wn leaving the #2, #3 even #4 hits (in the case of Alicia Keys) outselling most of the chart toppers by a considerable amount. Utter madness!!!

To be honest, I don't use my mobile that much for internet (purely because I'm on the go and don't really find time until at home in the evenings).

Yeah. I suppose it does seem a bit weak in comparison to the big singles. But I just found it so irresistibly catchy (and still so! :P)

'LoveGame' was catchy but for me it just lacked something that the previous singles had. I guess when people moan that all Lady GaGa songs "sound the same" perhaps that's where the appeal lies. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. :P

I'll have you know GD has his own fan club on Buzzjack. Doesn't come much cooler than that. :P (how I envy him!!! :( ).

Yes! Only when people get bored of GaGa should she even DARE to change her sound. :P

I have a fan club too! It has approximately 3 members, all 3 get excited every time I make a post! Very rarely, I know. :P

Gone are the ChC days when I used to make 20 posts a day minimum! I'm getting a bit more posty now though... Mainly because I realised I wasn't in the gay rate. Also because Tom Kay requested a return on my Twitter. :P

For some reason people think 'Born This Way' is "a different direction". I mean...seriously?  Then again, when you look at all the massive international female artists from over the years (Madonna, Kylie, Britney, Rihanna) they've all changed their styles slightly to move with the times and stay fresh. So I'm sure Lady GaGa will follow suit.

You're one of those 3 fans though (you've got such an ego haven't ya?!!! :P ). You should post more often, although I can understand why you might get intimidated by the "louder" characters on Buzzjack.

Don't worry about things like the Gay Rate - it's just harmless fun, and don't forget we had one on ChC (you finished 5th? :P ).

For some reason I wanna be in the gay rate though...I have no idea why! :P And I think you'll find I came 4th! Ahead of Gooddelta...meaning I was (technically) gayest straight at the time.

I think Born This Way is slightly different to the big GaGa singles... But it really wouldn't seem out of place at all on The Fame. Apparently Judas is produced by RedOne so I'm expecting more of the same tbh. Not that that's a bad thing. :P I think se should release a country/jazz/metal album... That'd be interesting!
