I haven't heard any of those new songs yet. I'm not expecting to like Rope though, but we'll have to see. I hope it can get into the top 10 on iTunes, because I think Grenade needs to go now.

'Wheels' is also possibly the Foo Fighters weakest single ever. It was crap. I'd always said with a decent lead single which was a promoted well a Foos GH would race to 1m, then I heard 'Wheels' I gave it no chance.
hurts were in the top 100 last week suprised that they dont seem to be in top 1000 according to updates by ppl here :/ video came out late i guess

Unless it's really really far off I wouldn't rule out their GH passing the million mark at some point in the future.

I neve realised the Foos only have 2 #1 albums, I always envisioned them as a band who got to #1 with everything they released. They only have 4 top 10 singles as well, one of which I've never even heard of :o While classics like 'Everlong', 'My Hero' and 'Times Like These' missed out.

I love "Wheels"

I tend to like FF singles that no one else does, "Monkey Wrench" is another example. It baffles me that in his entire career Dave Grohl has never got a top 3 single, Nirvana never managed it and "Best of You" only got to #4. It would shock me if "Rope" went top 3 but the album should sell really well regardless :D

"In Your Honour" was a HUGE album but got stopped behind Coldplay. Was the single "This Is A Call"? That was their very first, when it was still effectively a Dave solo project.

Yes, 'Best Of You' and 'The Pretender' are obviously quite well-known and I think I've heard 'All My Life' one or two times but I'd never even herad of 'This Is A Call' until a few minutes ago :P

Just listened to 'Rope', it was a little bit average until the instrumental bit before the final chorus  That part made up for the rest of it

Not sure whether I prefer it to 'Wheels' or not (I also think that song is underrated), definitely not among their best singles but it's good enough.

168. Hurts - Sunday

902. Hurts - Sunday

Joss Stone  Poor soul, her new single is amazing.

15. Rope - Foo Fighters

75. Fighting Fire (Original) [ft. Jess Mills] - Breakage

98. Neat Little Rows - Elbow

130. Fighting Fire (Radio Edit) [ft. Jess Mills] - Breakage

232. Every Little Part of Me (feat. Smiler)) - Alesha Dixon

COME ON FOO! The more time passes without them going top 10 I'll start to get worried, even though I know it's still really early  They might do a Pendulum and stall at #11 for ages before leaping to something ridiculous like #4.

With this instant release business, I'm fininding it ever rarer that I hear new songs before they are appear on the charts - of course, that's probably because I never listen to the radio except for the chart show...

Even if I did, though, it would be R2 not R1, so the situation probably wouldn't change much.

The only one of those that is an instant release is Rope.

Fighting Fire has been around for ages (it's another fairly standard dubstep song with female vocals, similar to Magnetic Man's I Need Air but a bit more dubsteppy) and Neat Little Rows has also been around for a while, it's just for some reason been ignored by R1 *and* R2 despite how huge The Seldom Seen Kid and One Day Like This were. And obviously Every Little Part Of Me has been available on Alesha's album for a while although featuring Jay Sean.

classic foos like times like these were like 2nd and 3rd singles so only went top 40!!

good band though!!

I posted some predictions of the new releases last night before the tracks were even released and 'Rope' stood out like the obvious big new release. I'm glad to see it's already top 15 on iTunes and hope it can go top 10 by the end of tonight - I'm aware that there was a big gap between 'Greenade' (#10) and 'Do It Like A Dude' (#11) yesterday morning on the pop bars so you'll probably be right in that 'Rope' could get to #11 with ease - then take ages to get into the top 10.

Here's hoping Foo Fighters can get themselves another deserved top 10 hit. Hopefully a music video will be premiered soon(ish) to raise more awareness of the song. Foo Fighters' new album is clearly going to rocket to #1 selling bucketloads (ok, maybe between 150-200k first week?).

Definitely over 100k. Could see "White Limo" (album track with a video) and "Bridge Burning" (30 second clip on the album trailer, album opener, VERY well-received) both going top 75 on the release of the album as well.

Great to see Foo Fighters doing so well, been a while since a harder rock song made the charts - Metallica, AC/DC and Guns N' Roses back in 2008 I think!

'Rope' is really growing on me as well, first thought it was a bit average, but it's actually pretty damn good on subsequent listens.

What about Biffy's That Golden Rule (#10 in 2009)? I'd classify that as quite a 'hard' rock song, if 'Rope' is being considered one as well.

And Killing In The Name as well, but that's obviously a bit different.

58. That's the truth - McFly
