What about Biffy's That Golden Rule (#10 in 2009)? I'd classify that as quite a 'hard' rock song, if 'Rope' is being considered one as well.

 

And Killing In The Name as well, but that's obviously a bit different.

 

Nah, wouldn't call anything by Biffy hard-rock - it's heavier than most rock in the charts, but not 'hard-rock' all the same.

 

And yeah, KITN as well of course counts, although that wasn't a new song and was part of a campaign.

It seems to be climbing rather slowly but hopefully it'll go top 10, just because it's been so long since a proper new rock release went top 10.

I think the Foo Fighters going Top 10 is definitely achievable. Especially the way rock fans tend to download - if there's already momentum behind a song, we'll tend to download it just to give it a push. I wasn't planning on downloading it - like the song, but it's available for free streaming and I'll be getting the album on day one anyway - but if it pushes a rock song into a stagnant R&B dominated top 10, I'll gladly spend less than a quid to help it on the way.

Ugh and once again dance underperforming, Breakage climbing pretty slowly.

I think she's been tainted by the very show that made her popular in the first place. Becoming a judge on Strictly doesn't seem to have done her any favours whatsoever. Then again, returning with a track as abysmal as 'Drummer Boy' was always asking for trouble.

Hope Adele stays #2 and #4, that way she could get a 3rd week at #1 :o :wub:

This has always baffled me tbh. I genuinely can't understand why. Drummer Boy and Take Control were good, and both really didn't do as well as I though. Especially Take Control! I presumed since it was Roll Deep, it'd got #1! Radio was pretty boring though, so I can understand why nobody wanted to buy it.

 

Her music is good (in general), she's nice as a person. She get's loads of exposure, and her song, whilst they don't get promoted really well, it's not too bad. Other songs chart quite high with similar promotion.

 

This will probably sound really stupid, but perhaps since she judges on SCD, kids think she's not cool since she's on an "old people's" show? I know I'm generalizing a lot here (although, that said, most people here seem to have no problem making rash generalizations like this when they're talking about kids, but I'll have the courtesy to apologize), but I can't really think of any other reason.

 

To be honest, I thought her judging on the show would have a similar effect to what it does on Cheryl's songs (although to a lesser extent, obviously).

 

COME ON FOO! The more time passes without them going top 10 I'll start to get worried, even though I know it's still really early :lol: They might do a Pendulum and stall at #11 for ages before leaping to something ridiculous like #4.

 

I remember that about Pendulum too. It was definitely very peculiar. I mean, it does usually happen to some songs due to the top 10 effect, etc, but would it really have had such a huge effect?! :o I think a similar thing happened to Stereo Love too, which was released around a similar time.

 

I hope Rope can go top 10. Ideally, it'll replace Lady Gaga, then Lady Gaga will re-climb in after the video effect, and kick Bruno out.

Upside Down is incredible. It really deserves a LOT more chart success.

 

Kiss Kiss is an INCREDIBLE song. I loved it SO much when I was little. :wub: Can't remember exactly when it was released (maybe 10 years ago now? :o), but I bet at the time when I was obsessed with it people were telling me I wouldn't remember that song after 2 years. Who's laughing now?! :lol:
