yeah, but female urban and hip hop is given quite a bit of support on here, and PCDs and Nelly Furtado are also liked in general- males doing the same isn't liked so much, but they wouldn't receive half the stick they get if they were sung by a female (Smack That and Pump It may have lasted longer in this case)

so to me any style of music by a female artist not doing well in a poll like this is quite a surprise (even bigger when its pure pop) I mean female songs of the last few years that come to mind as being generally disliked on here are Whip My Hair and Do it Like a Dude and even they had a lot of support on here!

I suppose.

And don't forget Katy On a Mission!

The hip hop songs that have done best in this poll (and I use the term "hip hop" very liberally here. A lot of people would laugh if I called these songs hip hop) are Meet Me Halfway and The Way I Are, and they're dominated by Fergie  and Keri Hilson  respectively.

Vote #18 for Chasing Cars.

By the looks of things it could get into the top-20 even.

Of all the 'indie' songs left, I can't believe 'Naive' is the one that's going. Even if you find his voice annoying or just don't like them, surely 'She Moves in Her Own Way' is far worse?

And why WOULDN'T 'Candy Shop' and 'My Humps' go early in 2005? Surely two of the very worst songs to have been included in any of these. One is a load of misogynistic tosh, the other is possible the most annoying and pointless songs ever made.

And SexyBack is in 2nd place atm...wtf?

This x2!

James Morrison - You Give Me Something
God, buzzjack has bad taste.

 Different taste to yours is not bad. That's just arrogant.

I preferred SMIHOW but I did like Naive too- shame its going :( its better than America, which I still like, but its the worst of the 'landfill indie' songs here

Candy Shop isn't that good, but it still doesn't deserve to end up 36th, or whenever it gets voted out.

My Humps is one of the best though. I always thought it's pretty similar to Beep from this year. I think those songs are just too humerous and light-hearted. Most people on here seem to prefer those songs with some sort of positive message, and then a nice melodic chorus.

My Humps and Beep are more about the humour, syncopation, sampling, rhyming lyrics, etc. Those songs deliver very well, which is why they are successful. I don't think My Humps is "annoying", and it most definitely is not "pointless"! If lots of people have fun listening to the song, that kind of automatically makes it not pointless.

She Moves in Her Own Way > Naive for me. I just find Naive boring. I'm really not a fan of that type of music, but I love Welcome to the Black Parade, Monster and America. She Moves in Her Own Way is an enjoyable listen too, and brings back more memories for me.

I have very little add to this thread, but I do feel the need to say that RFC is completely SPOT ON with pretty much EVERY SINGLE THING he has said in this thread. My Humps is the greatest steaming pile of turd that the BEP have ever put their name to, and when said act are also responsible for This Time, then that's REALLY saying something. It symbolises pretty much EVERYTHING that was WRONG with urban music.
