Posted February 27, 201114 yr The latest news on Adele (and a few other people) now available from the front page and the latest new box
February 27, 201114 yr Yay, you included my factoid about Tinie :kink: Great read :D It's great to see Frankie & The Heartstrings get a top 40 album, very underrated band
February 27, 201114 yr Author I' ve not actually heard any of FATH yet but anything produced by Edwyn Collins is off to a good start so I shall have to get onto youtube or Spotify. And thanks for the factiod.
February 27, 201114 yr Suedehead2 - If anyone says that The Shadows did not have 2 simultaneous Top 5 Albums, in January 1963, they have to disqualify John Lennon, in February 1981, too. ('Summer Holiday' was a Cliff Richard & The Shadows Album, & 'The Next Time/Bachelor Boy' was a Cliff Richard & The Shadows Single). The Shadows also had a Top 5 Single & Album - at the same time - as The Shadows - which is why I credited them with 2 Top 5 Singles, & 2 Top 5 Albums, in the W/E 31st January 1963 Charts. John Lennon was credited on 2 Top 5 Singles & Albums, in the W/E 7th February 1981 Chart. However - one of those Top 5 Albums, (the No.1 that Week), was credited as a John Lennon & Yoko Ono Album. ('Double Fantasy'). If The Shadows can't be credited with a January 1963 Cliff Richard & The Shadows Album, then - to be consistent - we can't say that 'Double Fantasy' was a John Lennon Album. Look at the Cover of 'Double Fantasy' - It is clearly credited to both John & Yoko:, http://www.chartstats.com/albuminfo.php?id=5162 Personally - to save such matters arising - I regard any Act who is credited on an Album, as having that Hit Album. So 'Double Fantasy' can be called a John Lennon Album, & 'Summer Holiday' can be called a Shadows Album.....
February 27, 201114 yr I know that some people will be wondering if Adele is the 1st Act to have the Top 2 Albums in the same Week. Others will assume that maybe Adele, The Corrs, The Beatles, & Bruce Springsteen, are the only Acts to manage the Feat. In fact:, 1) Adele is the 10th Act to achieve it. 2) She's the 1st Solo Female to do so. February 27, 201114 yr Author Thanks for the reminder about Double Fantasy. In fact, Yoko sang half the songs on the album with John singing the others so it was distinctly a John and Yoko album. I shall leave it for people to decide for themselves which acts should count
February 27, 201114 yr Author Thanks also for the full list of albums. I doubt the Beatles' record of 16 weeks in a row (and 19 weeks out of 20) will ever be beaten.
February 28, 201114 yr Oops! I failed to spot that the Kids From Fame also had the Top 2 Albums. (I've corrected my earlier Post, now). They did it for 2 Weeks - in October & November 1982. So, Adele is the 10th Act to achieve it - not the 9th. Thanks to Alan Jones, 'Music Week' Report, for the Kids From Fame Feat. However, in the Report, he also has these comments:, 1) He points out that the George Mitchell Minstrels did it in 1961 & 1962, but only gives 1964 for The Beatles. They achieved the Feat in 1963, too. (5 Weeks in 1963 & 14 Weeks in 1964). 2) That The Corrs were the last Act to manage the Top 2 Albums - in March 1999. It was April 1999. 3) That Adele is the first Female to achieve it. Unless you say SOLO Female, that is not a fair statement - the George Mitchell Minstrels, ABBA, the Kids From Fame, & The Corrs, all managed it - & all had Female Singers.
