"French chanteuse/sex icon Yelle (Julie Budet) and her mates Grand Marnier and Tepr have made a fantastic couplet of videos for their newest songs, "Safari Disco Club" and "Que veux-tu" under the watchful eye of director Jérémie Saindon, and they may very well have made the best just-over-eight-minutes of purely blissful (albeit French) pop music this year may see. Costuming, dancers, a set that changes during an intermission, enough frames of Miss Budet's, er, frame to quench the sexual thirst of your average really horny teenage young man--or woman, no less--and the kind of sugary sweet music, still very secure in its own resonance, that has made Yelle what they are today. They're completely turning into powerhouses as each day moves forward, and this visual pairing and the production design prove that immediately and evenly." That sums up the video much better than I ever could. It's hard not to fall in love with Julie. Their debut album had it's moments but I wasn't too keen on it, luckily the past three singles have all been brilliant. Excited!

I downloaded the title track when I heard they were to support Katy Perry on tour and I liked it! Aswell as their remix of 'Hot N Cold', so I might check this album out!
I love both songs! :o Looking forward to the album. Although I think it's more dance than pop, but whatever.

I've been listening to it for a whole week and I can say that my favourites are: Safari Disco Club, Que Veux-Tu, Chimie Physique and Unillusion. The whole album is great. I fully recommend it to all pop/electropop fans.

Incredible stuff.

Yelle FINALLY clicked. Safari Disco Club has been in my head for a week now and i'm not tired of it at all.

Someone entered SDC in BJSC and I loved it, so may have to give this a listen soon!

Has anyone been to the Katy Perry 'California Dreams Tour' yet? If so, what were these like? Good?

I'm going to the Liverpool show next Sunday. Looking forward to seeing them. :D

That would be moi  Got the album but didn't have time to check it out yet.

They were rather good! I think her outift was the same as the one on the album cover! I liked what I heard, but they struck me as a odd choice of support act. I don't think I've ever heard of them outside of here (where I know "A Cause Des Garcons" and "Safari Disco Club" from) and their songs were all in French, so it meant that (despite enjoying them) the crowd weren't as into it as the potentially could have been. That said, the music was good and I still enjoyed myself. I can honestly say I never thought I'd see someone perform a French cover of Robyn's "Who's That Girl" while dressed a bit like a tree at a gig.

Yelle was amazing as Katy Perry's support. Absolutely loved it. Like Aaron said, the outfit was quite odd, but amazing.

Her dancing is absolutely incredibly, reminds me of my dancing when I'm drunk ^_^

Funny to see how English people quite often refer to Yelle as "they" :kink:

It's no Florence and the Machine dilemma, in France everyone refers to Yelle as "she", her band doesn't get any credit at all.

The album is amazing, I never really got into her until now, but wow! The lyrics are one of the best bits, you should look for translations, it's generally quite funny/2nd degree/quirky. :)

Here is the chorus of the single 'Que veux-tu' (What do you want?) for example :

What do you want, I'm crazy of you

My heart stops beating when I see you

You're handosme, you're tall, you're fascinating

You've got horses, you've got ponys, let's have children

What's the outlet for me

My body stops moving when I see you

You're as hot as a glove around my fingers

And your eyes like coals are so cold

Or here is some bits from one of her biggest hits in France, 'Je veux te voir' (I wanna see you...) :

Cook with your little cock surrounded by ginger hair

I can't believe you believe anyone would want you

I can't even believe it in the dark, even if you keep your pjs on

Even if you keep your bathrobe on, that looks like an old fashioned tee

Keep your shirt on, it will limit the damage, dickhead!

I wanna see you

In a porn movie

In action with your dick

Looking like chips or fries

I wanna know everything

About your atonomy

About your cousin Teki

And your fav accessories

If you're shocked by 'S&M', then this one isn't for you :kink:

Oh gosh, when I hear these lyrics which I don't understand I guess I miss err... a lot. :kink:
I speak French so I don't need translations :funky:
I'm quite liking this on first few listens, it seemed very consistent and fun. I wish I understood more of the lyrics though, darn me dropping French before GCSE. :(

She referred to 'Yelle' as "we" whenever she addressed the audience when I saw her. ;o

Could someone send me a link to the album please? ^_^

Maybe everyone in France are just as confused? Haha. Florence and the Machine is Florence Welch. Yelle are a band. Completely different. People do often get confused though, I know I did - I was originally under the impression that Yelle was her name. I've only ever seen her introduce GrandMarnier and Tepr as a part of the band.
