Posted March 11, 201114 yr "Kate Bush releases an unusual new album “Director’s Cut” on May 16 on her own label Fish People, in conjunction with EMI. On “Directors Cut” Kate revisits a selection of tracks from her albums “The Sensual World” and “The Red Shoes”, a process that presents a fascinating portrait of an artist in a constant state of evolution. She has re-recorded some elements whilst keeping the best musical performances of each song – making it something of a director’s cut but in sound, not vision. A new version of “Deeper Understanding” will be released as a single in April. Although written some twenty years ago, the song may be more relevant today than ever… Kate is currently working on new material although no release date has been set for this. “Director’s Cut” will be released in the following formats: Digital Album, Standard CD in a case-bound book, Deluxe CD (three disc package, including Director’s Cut, The Sensual Word and re-mastered The Red Shoes) in a case-bound book and two-disc vinyl. Other digital and vinyl formats will be made available on katebush.com. Details will be published shortly." http://i55.tinypic.com/2nisaxx.jpg got that info from here btw http://www.katebushnews.com/index.php/2011/03/new-album/ her website has been updated too so that you can register for updates and it has the album cover in the background so it's definitely true. i'm still in shock i seriously cannot wait, especially as it say's she's working on new material. they're probably my 2 least favourite albums of hers that are being remastered but i'm not gonna complain i'm just happy to have any sort of new(ish) music from her! and not too long away either!
March 11, 201114 yr Hmmmm. Not totally excited by this, it's always good to hear music by Kate but revisiting her two worst albums (possible argument with Lionheart) is not exactly thrilling. Let's hope she completely changes some of the tracks although the write up above suggests the rejigging will be fairly minimal.
March 11, 201114 yr What we want is a new Greatest Hits collection covering her whole career. Come on Kate. 1986 was your last and only one!!!

March 11, 201114 yr Echoing the sentiments above BUT there is news that she is in the studio recording a new album as well. YES.
March 11, 201114 yr What we want is a new Greatest Hits collection covering her whole career. Come on Kate. 1986 was your last and only one!!! Exactly. Not bothered about this and wont be purchasing.
March 11, 201114 yr Sorry but The Red Shoes is by far her worst album and I will be extremely interested in any rejigging of the material from that album. TBH I still don't understand the non-love for Lionheart and The Sensual World. They only seem poor in comparison to Hounds, The Dreaming and The Kick Inside, but are still better than 99% of the music that has ever been released.
March 13, 201114 yr I can live without Red Shoes, apart from the divine Song of Solomon, And So Is Love and Lily... but The Sensual World?! It's a masterpiece! From the liltingly beautiful title track to the stunning Never Be Mine and one of her career-best This Womans Work (hang your head in shame, Maxwell) - it's a warm, wintery gorgeous piece of work..... although I'm not quite sure what re-recording parts of it can do to it. It's already perfect.... Anything new from our greatest living musician is absolutely welcome, though. Interesting that Deeper Understanding is to be a single - it's true that the lyrics really are more relevant now than ever..... a great song.... As the people here grow colder I turn to my computer And spend my evenings with it Like a friend. I was loading a new programme I had ordered from a magazine: "Are you lonely, are you lost? This voice console is a must." I press Execute. "Hello, I know that you've been feeling tired. I bring you love and deeper understanding. Hello, I know that you're unhappy. I bring you love and deeper understanding." Well I've never felt such pleasure. Nothing else seemed to matter. I neglected my bodily needs. I did not eat, I did not sleep, The intensity increasing, 'Til my family found me and intervened. But I was lonely, I was lost, Without my little black box. I pick up the phone and go, Execute. "Hello, I know that you've been feeling tired. I bring you love and deeper understanding. Hello, I know that you're unhappy. I bring you love and deeper understanding." I turn to my computer like a friend. I need deeper understanding. Give me deeper understanding.
March 13, 201114 yr I gotta hand it to you, russ, that first gif is probably the best one I've seen. Agreed. What a strange release, especially after all this time.
March 13, 201114 yr There's a site with oodles of Kate gifs, so I pinched one :o ;) Kate looks beyond gorgeous in the Sat In Your Lap video, I reckon. Isn't it odd that, for an artist who lead the way with videos at the very beginning of the video age, Kate still hasn't allowed EMI to release an official DVD release of her music? Whilst a lot of the early videos have dated quite badly, there's still no denying how, from the 70s to the late 80s, she really did push the envelope. Also, just listened again to The Sensual World - apart from the awful Between a Man and a Woman and the ho-hum Love and Anger (terrible single choice), it's a GREAT album - The Fog..... has she ever released anything more atmospheric?
March 13, 201114 yr Author i've only ever gotten into this woman's work and walk straight down the middle from the sensual world. none of the others have really clicked with me. but that may change because my tastes of her albums always alternate depending on how i'm feeling. i absolutely love rubberband girl from the red shoes though, especially the us remix and the dance she does in the video! i re watched red shoes the other week and forgot just how good it actually is.
March 13, 201114 yr I remember reading shortly before his untimely death that Mick Karn had been working with Kate again - hopefully for Director's Cut, as his trademark bass is all over Sensual World - especially the beautiful Never Be Mine which, I think, is my favourite lyric of hers - it sums up beautifully the end of a relationship and seeing the person you've left carrying on with their life..... superb... I look at you and see My life that might have been: Your face just ghostly in the smoke. They`re setting fire to the cornfields As you`re taking me home. The smell of burning fields Will now mean you and here. This is where I want to be. This is what I need. This is where I want to be. This is what I need. This is where I want to be, But I know that this will never be mine. Ooh, the thrill and the hurting. The thrill and the hurting. I know that this will never be mine. I want you as the dream, Not the reality. That clumsy goodbye-kiss could fool me, But I`m looking back over my shoulder At you, happy without me. This is where I want to be. This is what I need. This is where I want to be. This is what I need. This is where I want to be, But I know that this will never be mine. Ooh, the thrill and the hurting Will never be mine. The thrill and the hurting, It will never be mine. It can never be. The thrill and the hurting Will never be mine.
