I don't hate the re-recorded Wuthering Heights at all - although it was the version of the song I heard first. What is it that people hate about it?

That makes me feel so old :drama:

I don't hate it either. And it was really only a new vocal

It was the first version I heard too - well, the first one that I owned, I didn;t know there were two until I read the inlay card and it said New Vocal. I much prefer the original because it's longer...(isn't it?)
The vocals on the re-recorded WH just sound a bit...off. And it sounds like she recorded them with half a care.... the original is far far superior to my ears.
The new Deeper Understanding is not as good as the latest J. Lo.

BTW the J-Lo song is absolutely f***ing dire.

I know! Thank you :D

About this project: I'm half-excited. But if I were a world wide music superstar and truly an ARTIST (as Kate is) I would never revive my own songs. But at the same time I understand why someone would do that. Somehow it's still more interesting than a cover album.. Dunno.

Alanis Morissette's acoustic version of Jagged Little Pill worked quite well.

I brought J.Lo up because she revived entire career with the help from others. But at the same time it proves that she has no relevance as an artist whatsoever. I can still enjoy On the Floor as one separate track.

Did I have a point somewhere..oh well.

I think she's done this because The Whole Story covered everything upto The Hounds of Love and Experiment IV. So this could be seen as an extension of that bringing the story upto her work in the 90s but done in a more interesting way than a simple compilation. Which marks her out as more of an artist for my money for some simple rehash of the lambada (which was loathsome in the first place) with an assist from the truly execrable Pitbull. Hardly some sort of artistic renaissance is it?

AND Kate is recording a new album AT THE MOMENT!!!! (although when it'll come out is anyone's guess.)

I loved Lily anyway - one of her most personal songs...... written at the time her Mum was diagnosed with terminal cancer - I love the line "I feel like life has blown a great big hole through me".... don't we all at time?

For such an influential video artist as Kate Bush, this new one is pretty appalling.... and I can only assume she's ballooned in weight again as she doesn't even appear in it anywhere (a first for her). Deeper Understanding? Deeper disappointment morelike... :(

Is that not her at the beginning of the video and around the 3:42 mark?

Wait, I think that's Frances Barber.

It does look a little like her..... the more I see this video, the less I like it.... cheap and nasty.... and she looks so fat and manly these days..... :o :o :( :(

f***ing Hell.... Miaow! She's not even in the bloody thing! Jesus!

Personally, this version makes more sense with the video. It's along the lines of the Experiment IV video (i.e. literal interpretation of the songs) and as such could be seen as bookends for the whole of TSW/TRS/Aerial/DC period.

If Kate looks fat and manly then I must be gay

Because looks have everything to do with music quality. Though I'm not crazy over the video either (though to be fair I'm not even a huge fan of the original).

err...that was my point...... I'd expect irony to be lost on Americans...but...

As for Director's Cut, I've had a review copy... and.... umm..... I don't like it one bit. The new versions of This Woman's Work, And So Is Love, the revamped Sensual World, Flower of the Mountain... the whole album sounds lazy - some of the tracks, the backing track is exactly the same...and the others, the ones where she's let rip a bit - they just don't work.
