We made my IT teacher watch Friday on (funnily enough) Friday and she was like  but said she felt sorry for her with all the hate she gets. As she's youngish, my teacher pretended she remembered it at the end to seem all cool  We also played it to our supply teacher during a 'research' lesson in a computer room in history and she said she loves it and watches it loads! :D
I really don't get the RB backlash, the song is JUST as credible as "Whip My Hair" (which is basically adored worldwide).

I agree that it's just as credible as 'Whip My Hair' (even though that wasn't really adored worldwide), Rebecca really doesn't deserve the hate she gets. :(

It is just as credible as that I agree. As that was laughably bad. But Rebecca has kind of been taken advantage of here, I don't feel right laughing, whereas Willow is just a spoiled brat.
Willow is just a spoiled brat.

Perhaps not. I feel the Smith family are expoloting their children. Jaden a rapper :puke: please. Please can they just stop.

I think for a lot of people and i know for me, I personally have nothing against her as a person, i dont know her and i know nothing about her, its the song i hate and the way its produced, the lyrics are awful and the auto-tune in the chorus is like nails on a chalkboard no matter how you look at it, its a terribly done song regardless of who sings it.
I agree with Tom that Willow is just spoiled, tbh. And I also think it's a bit odd how when Willow released 'Whip My Hair', there wasn't any comments as bad as what's been commented about Rebecca, when, in my opinion, 'Whip My Hair' is far worse than 'Friday'.

it gets backlash because it's truly awful, musically, there's almost nothing redeemable here, its probably as credible as Whip My Hair but both have zero in the first place

Ark knew it would get a lot of backlash, that was the point, to get a reaction - thats why I feel slightly sorry for her as she's being taken advantage of

I don't think that's true. Their idea was to make a quick buck by giving her a crap song with just enough production for it to pass as a "current" pop track. They and her weren't expecting it to become a hit, it was just something for her friends and family. Let's be honest, who would have searched for Rebecca Black on Youtube before the song started going viral? But now that it has I do feel kind of awkward about it, especially since the family are now battling Ark for the rights to the song.

oh yes, it was about the money as well of course, but she wanted to become a star after all, so they were probably going to do something but make it terrible and tacky as possible so it would catch people's attention as well, admittedly, they probably didn't expect it to become this big, but she's still pretty much a star now and their making a lot of money

Hold on, people are comparing Whip My Hair to Friday?!

I like both songs, but sorry, Whip My Hair is a LOT more credible.

The only thing in common that they have is that the credited artists are both young American females, and that they're both pop songs.

THIS

I can't believe what I'm reading. Whip My Hair, ok it's not going to win any Ivan Novello awards, but it's a good fun catchy pop record. The intention wasn't for it to be a brilliant song, it was for it to be catchy and stick in people's brains. 'Friday' whilst the lol factor is there, sounds like its been produced by a 14yr old and written by a 7yr old. She's been taken advantage of yeh, but it's her parents fault in the first place. I've no sympathy. She's been exploited, but anyone with half a brain could tell you that Ark were just exploiting children for money. Jeez.

Thank you!

I thought people were joking initially, but they carried on and on, and I'm just thinking WTF?! And then people kept on chiming in like "Yeah, I agree"! :o :drama:

They didn't make it to get whiplash, theres no way they could have anticipated the strong reaction and how many views it would have etc. they did the same with loads of other child stars, to them she was probably just another girl they took 2grand from and made a song and video for. I dont mind th song, without the video its a lot more bearable...bar the awful "Sunday comes afterwards" I could imagine it being a fun song for children on a disney pop CD or something. Everyones judging it like an adult song, where's all jenna Roses backlash for My Jeans.

I'm teaming people who say that there wasn't any strategy to get this song popular at the moment when it was being recorded. Yes, she probably wanted to be a star, but so did lots of other girls whose videos you can watch on Ark's channel! We'll never know who actually launched this Friday-gate, I remember some popular American people posted the link via Twitter, and then the rest is history. Who asked those guys to post the links we don't know. And it's probably not people of Ark.

Wow, now that is funny! I am starting to really like Rebecca Black, it's a shame that she has gone through the seven circles of hate because of the song.
