Yes, no joke, and Love The Way You Lie is the 29th best-selling song in the world of all time (9,300,000) This is all according to wikipedia but it's still reliable :)

Nice to see Hips Don't Lie in the top ten of all time, I knew I'd read that it was the biggest seller of the 00's by some distance :D Surprising considering how terrible sales were in 2006 though...and not just in the UK, look at Australia's top 100 of the 00's for example and almost everything in the top 50 comes from 2000-2002 and 2009-2010.

It might not've got an official single release, but I don't think casual music-buyers know or care. They probably just search for Loca by Shakira, find it, and then buy it.

 

Songs from compilation albums have got very high on iTunes before. Sometimes they've even get higher than the originals (e.g. Stereo Love, which seemed to never leave the chart last summer because it featured on a new compilation album like every fortnight, seemingly, so it kept bouncing up the chart! :lol:).

Do you know how much California Gurls has sold? Last time I checked, California Gurls was the best-selling song in the world so far this decade, but Love the Way You Lie was only narrowly behind, and I hope it's overtaken it now! :)

 

But also, do the figures have sources on wikipedia? Like they should have those little blue numbers in boxes next to them, which tell you where the sales figures were taken from?

Yeah, Tik Tok has sold more than Love the Way You Lie, but it was released mid-2009, so it has its sales split between the two decades.

 

The top 2 for this decade is definitely California Gurls and Love the Way You Lie, I just don't know which order! :lol:

 

And Born This Way could be up there soon. That's been massive in almost every country on the planet, probably. Love the Way You Lie has suffered a lot, because it didn't get popular in Japan, whilst California Gurls did. Japan is the biggest music market in the world, I think. Katy Perry and Lady Gaga are moderately popular over there, I understand, but Eminem and Rihanna not so much.

 

Although, tbh, Tik Tok and California Gurls should really be combined! :lol: As should Love the Way You Lie and Airplanes! :lol:

Yep, it was available from a (German, IIRC) compilation. The official single was available for several hours on Amazon last November in error, but it still hasn't had a proper UK release yet :snif: I agree that Shakira is an amazing artist, and one of the world's most beautiful women too.
