I can't see Blue doing that well. I know it will get promotion from Eurovision but unless the song is something spectacular, think it may debut in top10 and then drop quick. Other boybands such as Boyzone have struggled to make a big comeback. Only really Take That have been the exception to the rule so far.

Adele has chances to stay #1 for so many weeks? :o

It would be great to see a great song spending so many weeks! It was about time although i would like JLo to spend 3-4 weeks too!

Someone Like You's phenomenal run at the top surely has come to an end Mikey, you don't seriously expect it to go back to #1 in 2 weeks time, never mind four?! :o

I think J-Lo has the lead in the bag for this week and next, given her monstrous lead on iTunes. Not even the BEP will overtake that methinks.

Just depends what the track will do, as its pencilled in for a release on April 24th, hopefully the track would have trailed off by than

I be shocked if J-Lo clocks up another 5 weeks, the single releases are just so barren this year. There isn't anything big, apart from Lady Gaga further down the line.

The release schedule looks a bit bare for the next few months. Maybe some of the tracks that have already been released and are just starting to pick up airplay will get a look in?

Just Can't Get Enough, Sweat, or Party Rock Anthem perhaps?

I'd love for that Milk & Sugar song to get to #1 too.

E.T. and Sweat are potential number ones for sure.

E.T. won't as its an album track and actually isn't that great; Sewat definitely won't either as its not mainstream enough.

I think J-Lo for the next 3 weeks - unless she's seriously front-loaded. At the moment it's impossible to tell. Obviously she's front-loaded to some extent but we have no idea if it'll be Promise This-stylee or Only Girl-stylee.

Then Wretch 32 will knock her off, but I doubt he'll last longer than a week, or sell that much to get to #1. Really no idea who could knock him off.

When is Eurovision this year? Isn't it usually mid-May? Blue could storm to No. 1 on iTunes if we win the contest but it depends if it will get good support from Radio 1, etc as to whether it could last there long enough to get No. 1 officially. But if we don't win it will probably 'only' get top 10.

Lady Gaga - depends if they release it at the start of the week rather than some bizarre release on the Friday like last time.

I think there'll be a #1 nobody expects or knows about yet somewhere along the line in the next ~2 months. I'd love to see a proper slow burn to #1. Those are my absolute favourite types of chart runs.

If Blue manage to win ESC, I guess they have a shot of at least going to #1 on iTunes, but it wouldn't hold up through the week and they probably wouldn't manage it officially. Especially not if it's the same week that Lady Gaga's Judas is out, something tells me that it will be FAR better than Born This Way.

Otherwise, I think it's too difficult to predict at this moment, J.Lo will have a week or two, Black Eyed Peas and LMFAO are definitely contenders too but something always springs a surprise out of nowhere (Brits and Adele for example?), so we'll just have to wait and see what pops up.

Ok, so my post was essentially the same as Superbossanova's but I swear I didn't copy! Great minds think alike

May 14th.

Wretch will go number 1 and I think the new Take That single off their tour edition Progress will go number 1

Is Cheryl Cole releasing any more singles ?

But yeah, maybe something from Britain's Got Talent will pop up ala Mint Royale in 2008. That's the only other major event soon that could pull of something like that I can think of right now.

May 14th.

Thanks! So Blue's best chance of #1 would likely be on the chart dated w/e 28th May. Seems a bit far in advance to judge that - there'll be loads of stuff unannounced popping up by then. Especially with the new on air, on sale thing.

I think it could do it earlier. I reckon this year's going to be the most hyped Eurovision for quite some time - Dana International, probably one of the few Eurovision winners the average person on the street could remember, is returning for Israel; you've got Jedward representing Ireland (although that'll probably just translate into increased viewers for their semi-final, as I doubt it'll qualify); and you've got a fairly well remembered act representing us. Certainly I reckon the BBC will make far more of it in terms of advertising this year than they did last year, so we may see Blue possibly get two weeks at number one (reaching it the 15th and staying on the 22nd) depending on hype.

J-Lo I think will hold on for a while, the release schedules are dead :( although as others have said, I'm sure a surprise will spring up from somewhere

Blue have a chance if we do well in the contest, although Jade Ewan Its My Time only got to 27 even though we came in the top 5 that year, so I'm not really sure about that

Blue will be lucky to make top 10 to be honest

The Saturdays release their lead single from their third (fourth) album in May...

It will be without a doubt, here's hoping that it doesn't clash with a Britain's Got Talent semi again.

That said, I still don't see Radio 1 playlisting a Eurovision entry, Radio 2 maybe but the song itself is far more R1 friendly in sound, I just think that they'll ignore it due to the stigma still associated with the contest in the UK :( It can only get so far on pre-contest advertising and I reckon that it's main/only chance of getting to #1 will be if it wins the contest, which isn't out of the realms of possibility.

Jade's song wasn't overly chart friendly (maybe in the 1950's ), but in the same year, the winner Fairytale went top 3 on iTunes and top ten officially and I think that Blue could benefit from that sort of boost if they win, but even moreso seeing as they're a British act and a fairly well remembered/liked one at that. Oddly, without Eurovision I don't think that their comeback would have any commercial success whatsover, it's not like there's the same nostalgic fondness people have with Blue as they did with Take That or even Boyzone's reunions! Far from Eurovision being the 'career suicide' that a lot of people call it, this is a genuine huge opportunity for Blue to get a big comeback hit that they wouldn't have got any other way.
