Posted March 29, 201114 yr Well, well; http://www.play.com/Music/CD/4-/19178304/L...urlrefer=search In rather unexpected news, it would seem that Corrs lead singer Andrea is releasing a second solo album, even after the muted response to debut Ten Feet High. This is excellent news for the Corrs fans on the forum. Not that Sharon's solo album isn't lovely, but Andrea is 'the voice' and I can't wait! Sharon managed to bag herself an unlikely top 40 album so hopefully Andrea can follow suit with this - it's out on 30th May :cheer:
March 29, 201114 yr My my, I was not expecting this :o I have grown fond of the Corrs so might check her last album out :o
March 29, 201114 yr It's a covers album although most of the covers are little-known songs. She's got an original album out later in the year too apparently.
March 29, 201114 yr Author I thought it might have been as #9 Dream is a John Lennon song. But I'm not familiar with anything else so I don't mind too much - looking forward to the original album too, hopefully it's pre-empting a band reunion but I guess Jim is still off playing conspiracy theory.

His website is hilarious.
March 29, 201114 yr Author His website is hilarious. I've spent many an hour reading his views on the world and various events that have happened, it always cheers me up :D Ridiculous man. I read a very interesting interview of Sharon's at the time of her album release basically stating that whilst they still love him, she wanted to make it clear that nobody else in the family share's his opinions.
March 31, 201114 yr I loved Ten Feet High, that was a good pop album. Good to hear she's releasing a new album of original material as well as this covers one.
April 3, 201114 yr An album of covers? GOOD LORD it's going to be Sharleen Spiteri's "Movie Songbook" all over again. DIRE :(
May 5, 201114 yr It's OK. Bland and watery upon first listen; it's not the most immediate of songs, but the chorus does sink in after a while. The video's pretty bad. Obviously budget, and Andrea herself looks like she can't really be arsed. The first big rousing chorus, and we get a shot of Andrea...walking dead-eyed through a subway?
May 6, 201114 yr Author This single has actually grown on me hugely, the last couple of minutes in particular. I prefer it to Sharon's take on Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime, it's more Corrs-esque. Still mildly looking forward to the album...
May 31, 201114 yr So this is out today and I have no doubt it will fail to make the album chart completely. BUT on the plus side, Tinseltown In The Town has grown on me, and having had a quick Spotify session with the album, I am pleased to say this ISN'T Sharleen Spiteri Take 2. Some of the covers are genuinely rather good, and Andrea herself actually sounds more passionate and energised than she has for a LONG time. State Of Independence is a highlight.

Some of the covers are genuinely rather good, and Andrea herself actually sounds more passionate and energised than she has for a LONG time. State Of Independence is a highlight. I've been really enjoying the album, Tinseltown In The Rain is a huuuuge grower and I also love Pale Blue Eyes, State Of Independence, No 9 Dream and They Don't Know, so basically the middle of the album - where filler is usually kept - is my favourite part! Not so sure about the title track though, the offputting blubbering noise she makes at the beginning of the second verse makes it feel a bit novelty
June 1, 201114 yr So just to prove me wrong, the album is top 30 in the midweeks. I would fully expect this to be sliding and struggling to make top 40 by the end of the week, but nevertheless it's better than expected.
June 1, 201114 yr This is actually top 40 in the midweeks meaning it could chart higher than Ten Feet High in the end! Edit: beaten to it. Bloody SHOAT.
June 1, 201114 yr You should know better than to try and trump me when it comes to Corrs (or indeed any blandie) looning!
June 1, 201114 yr This is the official video of her first single. I love it! I think she's done a great version, it's a shame that it will never be a hit though, not unless it's featured in an advert or some other campaign which is very unlikely. It's a great song, originally recorded by The Blue Nile for those who don't know. There appears to be a 2011 remix of The Blue Nile version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUriW9epuzs
July 24, 201113 yr Author Seems that State of Independence is the new single (top 2000 smash beckons but definitely the best on the album!), Andrea's been pretty much everywhere this week promoting it - currently being interviewed right now on BBC2 show 'Something For The Weekend'. Pretty much confirmed an eventual Corrs reunion again and how on earth does she still look so young in her late 30s? :o o/t - They're playing Ace of Base on the same show, why do I not watch this every week!?!

Ha, I saw that exact same show. Andrea Corr, Ace of Base and Louise Redknapp. It's a Gooddelta wet dream!
