April 3, 201114 yr Chris, I'm seriously getting fed up of your spamming, and I reckon it's pretty obvious you just post complete crap on this forum just to wind everyone up, because there is not ONE shred of proof for anything you go on about.... Hopefully you'll go the way of Craig soon... And "greedy miners", WTF are you even talking about...???? Yeah, so "greedy" to actually want to earn a decent living doing a very dangerous job (which the cave-ins in Chile and elsewhere over the past year or so have proven).. But then, you wouldn't know a f**king thing about earning a living anyway you work-shy prick..... People who claim benefits off the state have NO RIGHTS to criticise those who actually graft and do a decent day's work..... But, in a way you're also the very definition of Tory scum, you denigrate and disrespect the people who are the backbone of this country - the workers, the WORKERS create the wealth of the nation through their graft and labour, they pay taxes, they pay council tax, they create the profits for the employers and the shareholders..... Just what the f**k do people like you and the Tory vermin who are currently f**king up this country contribute to our society...? Nothing..... How is it spamming when I address my admiration for a Prime Minister but not when you slag one off? I think both Blair and Thatcher should maybe get State Funerals but definitely Thatcher. She's in line to get one anyway. How's that spamming? It's an opinion which a lot in the country agree with and lots disagree with. How can you be fed of me spamming when I don't post much here anymore? I prefer to post on DS where all opinions are accepted without name-calling and name-callers promptly banned. Calling someone a "P****" lowers the position of Moderator. Why did Scargill want to keep so many pits open that were no longer profitable then? Many were just breaking even or actually making a loss and being propped up by the profit making big pits. If a factory's losing money it closes down whether workers lose their jobs or not. That's simple Economics. Why was the mining industry any different? Someone else made this point when the miners were discussed in another thread. Look I've backed up my argument with reasoning. It should have been taken into consideration though that mining was the only viable career path for so many people in the towns where the mines were closed. The closures decimated employment in these areas because there simply wasn't the infrastructure to support those who lost their jobs. Sometimes people are more important than money, you know.

That's not what you said before though. You called them greedy. Wanting to keep their job isn't greed, it's a simple matter of wanting to maintain an income and being prepared to put in an honest week's work to get it. Simple economics really.

Indeed, but how is it 'greedy' to want to keep your job when it's all you have? Thatcher would've been more than capable of slowing down the pit closure process and funding retraining programmes in order to make the shift less socially corrosive than it was. She explicitly chose not to and threw two generations of men in some areas on the scrapheap.

Spouting a load of crap about "greedy miners" is just spamming in my book. Not to mention the worst kind of Tabloid lie that was perpetuated at the time.. Of course, people like Chris believed the lie hook, line and sinker... The only thing Thatcher deserves is to be put into a body bag and flung on a f**king landfill.... Churchill stopped us being invaded by Nazis, to put Thatch (or indeed B-Liar) on an equal footing is an insult to old Winston....

Spiteful, capricious, ideological reasons to break the back of the working classes more than economic reasons A bit like the "Austerity Cuts" now. The Tories - dragging us back to the Victorian era....

I agree with the last bit, my point that Blair should get one was only if Th*tcher was as well.
