April 2, 201114 yr American Life is probably the only album of hers that I can listen to from the beginning to end without feeling the need to skip any tracks. AL, Hollywood, Nothing Fails and M&F would all be in my Madonna Top 10 should I ever have to compile one. Loved it then and love it now, can't say that Music and Confessions have stood the test of time so well and I've never had much time for any of her other full albums.
April 2, 201114 yr Wasn't fussed about it when I first came out  Now though it is probably my favourite album by Madonna. 08 | American Life - Nice enough, would rather have another song as a single though, awesome rapping. 07 | Hollywood - One of my least favourites on the CD but still a good song 06 | I'm So Stupid - Only filler song for me, I don't dislike it but don't love it either. 08 | Love Profusion - Love this song. 07 | Nobody Knows Me - Slightly better than I'm So Stupid 09 | Nothing Fails - One of the best songs on the album. 11 | Intervention - The total highlight, I adore this song. 09 | X-Static Process - The more acoustic tracks seem to hit me more than the more electro ones. 08 | Mother And Father - I like her rap in this one. 08 | Die Another Day - Second best Bond Theme after Sheryl Crow's one. 10 | Easy Ride - The intro is really stunning, as is the rest of the song. Unreleased Songs/Leaked Demos 09 | It's So Cool (Original Version) - LOVE this. 08 | The Game - would love for a finished version. 07 | Set The Right - not bad, can see why it was left off.
April 2, 201114 yr Author American Life: 10/10: Great first single with a cool rap, awesome original video. Has everything a first Madonna single needs. Hollywood: 9/10: Love it!, it was the song I loved the most of my first play of the album. Great Remixes too. I love the line "Music stations always play the same song I'm bored with the concept of right and wrong" (even better when she got Britney, Christina and Missy singing it to at the vma's). I'm So stupid: 9/10: I think we have been stupid including Madonna. But I love this song, I love all the guitars in it. Love Profusion 9/10: A great up beat ballad Nobody Knows Me: 9.5/10: Until the I went to the Re-Invention tour, I never really liked the track. I think there was probably too much electro music in it. But I loved the live performance Madonna did and got me hooked. Nothing Fails: 8.5/10: A moving ballad with a surprising presence of a choir. Intervention: 7.5/10: Madonna going more acoustic than ever X-Static Process: 8.5/10: A good personal acoustic ballad Mother And Father 9.5/10 Brilliant! Just like American Life with a great rap, great electro track Die Another Day: 8/10: One of the best bond themes for ages. Easy Ride: 8.5/10: A slow personal ballad - I like the idea of a circle (lol). It's So Cool: 9.5/10: awesome! The Game: 10/10: Love it! Should of been on the album. Set The Right: 7/10: It's Ok.
April 3, 201114 yr Author Maybe it's worth a look at watching/listening to her promo tour for the album that she did most tracks were nearly totally acoustic even Like A Virgin!.
February 11, 201213 yr Maybe it's worth a look at watching/listening to her promo tour for the album that she did most tracks were nearly totally acoustic even Like A Virgin!. This version? dNYY8qUtLO0 Really nice! I would like to hear a studio acoustic version of Like a Virgin!
February 11, 201213 yr Rru0xXBMVGI Why isn't Mirwais bigger? He's an incredible producer. I think American Life probably killed his career in its tracks. Ha. Or maybe he was too underground to properly take off.
February 11, 201213 yr AL is my second favorite madonna album, SL song is y third favorite Madonna song, i still remember buying it, and it's first listen :D i fell in love with hollywood on first listen. i kinda miss this madonna :S i don't like this childish (hard candy and luvin') madonna that much
February 12, 201213 yr I love this album! It's probably my third favourite behind Confessions and Like A Prayer. Nothing Fails and Mother And Father are the stand out tracks for me, although when I first got it in 2005 my fave track was by far Nobody Knows Me. Strangely enough I'm not all too keen on the singles taken on their own, or as part of a compilation, but they just work brilliantly in the context of the album as a whole. It's a great piece of work imo and definitely her most underrated album. Brilliantly produced too.
February 12, 201213 yr I think American Life probably killed his career in its tracks. Ha. Or maybe he was too underground to properly take off. The rap probably killed his career? But man, some of the stuff he was producing back then was top stuff. The American Life instrumental is great.
February 12, 201213 yr Ray of Light and American Life were quite edgy for such a mainstream artist. Everything else since then has been terrible.
February 12, 201213 yr Rru0xXBMVGI Why isn't Mirwais bigger? He's an incredible producer. So much better as an instrumental.
February 12, 201213 yr Ray of Light and American Life were quite edgy for such a mainstream artist. Everything else since then has been terrible. American Life (the song) is pretty widely ridiculed though, even among her fans it's pretty unpopular. Clearly the rest of the world disagrees with the latter comment given that Hung Up is undoubtedly her most iconic hit since Ray Of Light :D deservedly so IMO... I'll rate the album tomorrow.
February 12, 201213 yr fantastic album but for me it didnt have that killer single to attract the non madonna fan! this album did provide the best remixes of her career imo though! American Life 7/10 Should have kept the original video, prefer the headcleanr rock mix and also fond of the missy remix! Hollywood 8/10 Amazing remixes, my fav ever, vma version is also incredible, cant believe it was her first single not to make top 100 in USA, would love this to feature on her next tour I'm So Stupid 6/10 Least fav on the album Love Profusion 7/10 Nobody Knows Me 9/10 Fav song on the album but the RIT made this what it is! Nothing Fails 8/10 Should have been a single in the UK, would have been more successful then LP, lyrically it is really strong, could have even been the first single off the album. Intervention 7/10 X-Static Process 7/10 Mother And Father 7/10 I go through phases of enjoying this and then phases of not. Die Another Day 7/10 This is the song that for me is what non Madonna fans actually like, again great remixes and a fab video Easy Ride 9/10 - Lyrically one of Madonna's best!
