All the new Summer dance songs are already taking a toll on Adele's iTune position - she's down to #6 now, with The Black Eyed Peas, Mann and Katy Perry overtaking her. Wonder how quickly it'll fall out of the top 10?

All the songs that are ahead of it are newer songs than it - I can't see it falling behind any older songs any time soon, I suspect she'll also stay ahead of Nicole, Wiz and Katy B for at least the foreseeable future. It just depends on A) how long the songs currently ahead of it stick around and B) how many other big new songs are released.

Sweat is likely to overtake it fairly soon but I don't think it'll fall any further than #7 over the next week unless there are any big new releases I'm unaware of. Arctic Monkeys might climb ahead of her for a few days but that's about it for next week. The following week Unorthodox and Judas (apparently) are released.

I'm surprised gooddelta hasn't commented on this (see #173 in the list below if you're wondering why I said this :P), but the reason there are loads of old dance songs back in the iTunes chart is because they're being cherry-picked from Ultimate Floorfillers, in case anyone's wondering.

In the top 200:

66. Adagio for Strings (Radio Edit) - Tiësto

102. Castles In the Sky - Ian Van Dahl

140. Pretty Green Eyes (Radio Edit) - Ultrabeat

162. Come With Me (Radio Edit) - SPECIAL D.

170. When Love Takes Over - Kelly Rowland & David Guetta

173. Set You Free - N-Trance

184. Toca's Miracle (Radio Edit) - Fragma

195. Played-a-live (The Bongo Song) [Radio Edit Without Crowd Noise] - Safri Duo

Songs in bold I like. It'd be great to see Tiesto back in the top 100 officially, even if it's next Sunday - as this song is a classic (although there are better versions of it imo)

Great to see Ian Van Dahl doing well too, that is a classic trance song, and I loved "Come With Me" when it came out!

On Radio 1 tonight they're doing a countdown of the top 20 dance tracks of all time as voted for by R1 listeners in celebration of Pete Tong being on the station for 20 years - I don't know if this is likely to have any effect on the chart but if any other old dance tracks show up that might be why :P

They've already done it, I only caught the top 10 as they didn't play the rest in full so didn't remember to write the names down. Underworld would have made a good number one, but Cafe Del Mar is a trance classic and is popular with trance fans (CDM didn't do too well in the official chart, getting to number 12)

10 Eric Prydz “Pjanoo”

09 Massive Attack “Unfinished Sympathy”

08 The Prodigy “Smack My Bitch Up”

07 Daft Punk “Around The World”

06 Robin S “Show Me Love”

05 Stardust “Music Sounds Better With You”

04 Daft Punk “One More Time”

03 Sasha “Xpander”

02 Underworld “Born Slippy”

01 Energy 52 “Café Del Mar”

EDIT: I've found the rest of the chart - http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/petetong/dancevote/results.shtml

Have they? Oh, I thought they were going to spread it out over the 12 hours.

WTF is that at #1, I don't think I've ever even heard that  Or the #3 for that matter. The other 8 are all bona fide classics though (well, maybe not Pjanoo :P but Pjanoo is very good nonetheless) Although SMBU seems a bit out of place, surely Firestarter or Breathe would make more sense.

Firestarter and Breathe are nowhere to be seen in the top 20, yet La Roux & Skream make number 18.

The whole top 20 as voted by R1 listeners:

1 Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar - there are many mixes of this song but the most well known is the three-n-one mix, the one that I posted (yes it is very long) - but Born Slippy is much longer

2 Underworld - Born Slippy

3 Sasha - Xpander

4 Daft Punk - One More Time

5 Stardust - Music Sounds Better

6 Robin S - Show Me Love

7 Daft Punk - Around the World

8 Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up

9 Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy

10 Eric Prydz- PjanooFind

11 Groove Armada - Superstylin'

12 Laurent Garnier - Man with the Red Face

13 Chemical Brothers - Hey Boy Hey Girl

I suggest you listen to Born Slippy. A fantastic song and should have been #1 out of those ten.

Sampled (poorly) in Skepta's 'Bad Boy' which got to #26 last year.

Brilliant #1, that's the song I voted for :D Mainly because none of my actual favourites (Better Off Alone/Set You Free) were deemed good enough for the list - probably not 'respectable' enough. It's a disgrace that Cafe Del Mar only peaked at #12 here, ridiculously good song, top 20 in my top 100 of the 90s that I counted down in The Lounge last year[/uninterestingfactfans!]

Firestarter and Breathe are nowhere to be seen in the top 20, yet La Roux & Skream make number 18.

That's ridiculous  IFTK isn't even a dance song, that's just a remix...

Did you see my comment earlier regarding Set You Free or is it just a coincidence I happened to mention your loonage of it just as you were about to mention it?

I don't really get what the problem with it being a remix is. What is the Skream remix was the original version and then the original version was an electropop remix of it?

The Skream remix always seemed more popular to me than the original anyway. That's the only version I ever hear anymore on the radio, etc. The song was so massive, but the original version was too ordinary to be so popular, if that makes sense. I'm sure at least 100,000 of the sales came from Skream's version, and the Skream remix has been out-selling the original for over a year now (at least everytime I've checked). So it's almost as if it is the original.

Btw, SO MANY songs I love have been mentioned on the past 2 pages! Loving it. :D

I hadn't seen it! Although I'm always pleasantly surprised to see it in the top 1000 (and it quite often is!), all of those charting from that compilation are old favourites of mine in fact

Born Slippy is a great song and it will be getting my +12 in the 1996 round of 90s Number Twos Rate. The full version is over 11 minutes long I have listened to that version a few times (I got it from a few trance compilations that I downloaded last year)

It just seems like it's cheating a bit to include a remix into a list of 'top 20 dance songs of all time'. I understand the Skream remix is much more popular than the original these days (and with good reason as it's far better than the original) but it's still just that, a remix. If it had been the original version that'd be a different matter.

+12? Behind Children I assume?

Speaking of which, AS IF Children got snubbed on that list...

Well it was voted by the public who must like the remix, but if there was a wider choice of songs maybe it wouldn't have finished so high. There was a shortlist of 50 and so many great dance songs missed out (Children, Sandstorm, Bellissima, 9PM, etc.)

In For The Kill isn't a dance song, its an electro-pop song, no matter how popular the remix is - thats like putting a remix of Someone Like You in the top 20, I have a feeling these listeners were a bit young and missed quite a few  Children, Sunchyme, Firestarter, Insomnia, Setting Sun and Block Rockin' Beats all should've been there imo

Sandstorm was snubbed as well, didn't realise that :drama: Also Sunchyme. The public are dumb. Surely Children, Sandstorm and Sunchyme deserve to be in the top 20 more than IFTK (Skream remix), Pjanoo and Superstylin' at least...

Ah well, at least it's technically a true representation of public opinion (I say technically because the original shortlist wasn't voted for by the public, a few people just picked 50 songs that were likely to be the most popular dance songs of all time). Shouldn't really argue with that.

Yeah, that's true tbh.

And I was wondering the other day, if perhaps the ending to Pass Out was done the way it was because of In For the Kill. I know lots of songs did it before then, but perhaps Labrinth saw how well-received it was in Skream's remix, so decided to do the same in Pass Out (and, by extension, Frisky).

Yeah, true. Although, whilst it does seem like cheating a bit, at the same time, the Skream remix of In For the Kill is definitely NOT electropop. It's a tricky one. Hopefully they specified the remix on the list they publish, or else people might decide to search for all the songs and listen to the original and be like WTF?

Although the whole remix thing is dubious anyway. Skream could've made it his own song and said it was a cover of In For the Kill, or sampled it. I mean, surely there's other songs out there which consist solely of vocals from another song, yet are classed as a different song and not a remix. It's more a classification issue than anything.
