This song is one the Sugababes best and its awful how little support it got. Especially from Radio One. The girls have no credibility left as a band because they appear like a tribute act to the original but that shouldn't get in the way of the song which was worthy of airplay.

 

I also notice that 'New Year' isn't getting the usual Christmas airplay

It's true that the artist themselves and their profile determines if it'll get playlisted, unfortunately they put too many nails in their coffin.

I'm not. I could name at least 40+ songs that are far superior.

 

There problem is that the songs are just generic now. The Sugababes in my eyes were all about being different, moody, slightly awkward but songs with really great vocals and quirky lyrics.

 

Now they just seem like a cheap imitation of Girls Aloud/The Saturdays.

I'd rather subject myself to the Sugababes worst pre-4.0 song, Shape, than listen to Freederm. Hell, I'd rather hear 4.0 rape the very heart and soul of Freak, TLIY, RR, HITH, AYN etc than have to hear Sweet 7/Freederm again (She's A Mess and Crash & Burn aside)

Soul Sound/New Year were my personal least favorites from them singles-wise...album track would have to be Joy Division

 

Joy Division is positively vile, but I have an irrational hatred for Shape. Which is a shame as it has a stunning video.

It should go without saying, but no telling people to leave the forum for giving opinions please...

I think 'Freedom' is a good song and if it was sung by 2.0 its reception would be very high.
