January 12, 201213 yr I'm SO pleased this has gone Top 5 in the US. It didn't smash in the UK chart-wise but it certainly racked up the sales. Hopefully it'll do both in the US.
January 19, 201213 yr Latest US chart movements + news: Up two places to #1 on Digital Songs (3 in a row) :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: Sales down 5% week-on-week to 193k though. It's the 'Airplay Gainer' again this week, increasing 26% to 92 million AI, moving 12-5 on Radio Songs :D And it's up 4-2 on the Hot 100 :cheer: #1 next week should be very possible if its sales continue to hold up and its airplay keeps rapidly increasing. It has dropped to #2 on iTunes behind Glee's version of 'Without You' and will likely drop to #3 behind David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj - Turn Me On in a bit (the latter could prevent SFTTR from having a long run at #1 on the Hot 100 :() but it's Adele's lead over Rihanna that really matters. '21' is at #1 again on the Billboard 200 (down 16% to 104k), for a 16th non-consecutive week and a 3rd consecutive week (only the second time it's had more than two consecutive weeks at the top oddly). This of course means she's now matched the weeks at #1 of the Titanic OST (and Vanilla Ice) to be the joint fifth longest-running #1 since 1990. Also becomes the twentieth album in Billboard history to get to 16+ weeks at #1 :D That 104k marks the 33rd time it's sold 100k+, which puts it levels with Usher's 'Confessions' - not entirely sure what the significance of this is but Billboard saw fit to mention it so I guess we'll see if it's another record or something if she does it a 34th time. She's apparently projected for 'just under 100k' this week (but Billboard says she should easily be #1 again :D) Adele has also topped Billboard's 'Social 50' for the first time (seems like a bit of a ridiculous chart since it's only had six different number ones in over a year but hey, it's more Adele news ) And here's possibly the least surprising Adele achievement yet :kink: www.billboard.com/news/adele-has-top-two-karaoke-songs-of-2011-1005891552.story Edited January 19, 201213 yr by Bré
January 23, 201213 yr I've already convinced several people that that's a real clip from the video. People are stupid. Edited January 23, 201213 yr by Umi
January 25, 201213 yr Up 2-1 on the Billboard Hot 100 :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: (Down 1-2 on Digital Songs, sales down 4% week-on-week to 185k but passing 2,000,000 total sales :D Non-mover at #5 on Radio Songs, up 13% to 105m AI - giving it the 'Airplay Gainer' honours for a third week in a row) Adele chart record news bulletin, latest update :kink:The first time ever that an artist has done the 'double #1' in the US (Hot 100 and Billboard 200 #1s simultaneously) with 3 songs off the same album - with '21' holding at #1 again on the album chart this week [down 9% week-on-week to 95k]. Both Rolling In The Deep and Someone Like You shared at least one of their weeks on top with '21' also. Not a record but with its 17th week at #1 '21' is the longest running #1 album in the USA since Whitney Houston's 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack in 1993. Also moves up to joint 4th longest running #1 since 1990.'Someone Like You' is also included on the tracklisting of both of the top 2 albums in the USA - Kidz Bop 21 (that number is just a coincidence :kink:), the new entry at #2, contains a no doubt horrendous version. January 25, 201213 yr INCREDIBLE :o There's no stopping this woman. I wonder if she'll perform Turning Tables at the Grammys or something and have such huge digital sales she'll go to number 1 even with no airplay? Unlikely I'd normally say but this is Adele, boundaries bend for her :P SO happy for her and all her success, she deserves it
January 26, 201213 yr INCREDIBLE :o There's no stopping this woman. I wonder if she'll perform Turning Tables at the Grammys or something and have such huge digital sales she'll go to number 1 even with no airplay? Unlikely I'd normally say but this is Adele, boundaries bend for her :P SO happy for her and all her success, she deserves it  If she sang Turning Tables in the US and UK at the Grammys and Brits and gave it an official release it would probably be #1 in both countries. Whereas SFTTR would just get a sales boost.
February 1, 201213 yr Set Fire To The Rain holds #1 for a second week on the Hot 100 :cheer: Sales down 10% week-on-week to 167k as it holds #2 on Digital Songs, airplay up 12% to 118m AI, climbing 5-4 on Radio Songs. '21' has also held on at #1 on the Billboard 200 for an eighteenth consecutive week, sales up 22% week-on-week to 116k :( Reportedly because of a deluxe edition being re-released in Target stores. I didn't know it even ahd a deluxe version but there you go. That gives it a 34th week over 100k sales although sadly the Billboard report hasn't given us an update on how far that pushes back its record, all we know is it's now overtaken Usher in 100k+ weeks :P Predicted for a 19th week at #1 next week as well, ahead of Lana Del Rey! I thought she would be big enough to stop her especially as she has the top 2 albums on iTunes but apparently not. I wonder when there will be a new album big enough to stop '21'. (Adele's music appears on four of the top 11 albums this week as well - obviously there's a lot of it on '21' at #1 () but there's also 'Rolling In The Deep' on 'Grammy Nominees 2012' at #4, a version of 'Someone Like You' on 'Kidz Bop 21' at #6 and 'Make You Feel My Love' on 'Chimes Of Freedom - Songs Of Bob Dylan' at #11).
February 8, 201213 yr US chart update: Down to #2 on the Hot 100, overtaken by Kelly Clarkson - ah well, she managed 2 weeks which is fantastic considering the album's sales and may yet get more if she performs it at the Grammys :D Digital sales down 2% week-on-week to 165k, holding at #2 on Digital Song. Airplay up 8% to 127 million AI, climbing 4-2 on Radio Songs - should be a good shout for #1 next week (Rihanna at #1 has 135 million and is now decreasing quite rapidly) :D '21' #1 again for a 19th week, sales increasing again (up 5% week-on-week to 122k), giving it a 35th week over 100k. Billboard's album report says Adele 'might lose #1 to Van Halen next week' and they're very rarely wrong so week 20 will have to wait. Incidentally, this is 21's sixth week in a row at #1, which is a personal record for her (it only had as many as 5 consecutive weeks previously) :D Edited February 8, 201213 yr by Bré
February 13, 201213 yr Going to unpin this thread as 'Rumour Has It' has just been confirmed as the next US single. I'll still post the normal weekly US chart updates until it drops out of the top 10 as I did with Someone Like You though :D Edited February 13, 201213 yr by Bré
February 16, 201213 yr US chart update: Set Fire To The Rain - Non-mover at #2 on Hot 100, still behind Kelly Clarkson. - Down 2-4 on Digital Songs but sales increasing 14% week-on-week to 187k :D - Up 2-1 on Radio Songs to become her third #1, up 7% week-on-week to 136 million AI :cheer: 21 - Another (20th) non-consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard 200, tying the reign at #1 for 'The Bodyguard' soundtrack :D This makes it the joint longest running #1 album ever by a female artist and it's certain to overtake this next week (and get by far its biggest sales week - Hits Daily Double report a 'conservative' estimate of 550-600k :o) - 7th week in a row at #1, the last 7-week consecutive run was Taylor Swift's 'Fearless' in 2008-9 and the last longer run was Creed's 'Weathered' with 8 weeks in 2001-2 (which again Adele will definitely match next week)! Seems odd to see this when previously '21' had racked up a respectable total of weeks at #1 by just having lots of 1 or 2 week runs at the top. - Sales up 95% week-on-week to 237k, with just one day of the Grammys effect - as above expect a HUGE increase in sales next week. 21 is also likely to be back at #3 in the UK on Sunday with a big sales increase due to the Grammys :D Other - Someone Like You and Rolling In The Deep, again on just a day of the Grammys effect, are back up to 23-9 and 39-10 on Digital Songs with 128k (up 91%) and 126k (up 174%) respectively :cheer: With SFTTR at #4 as mentioned above it's the first time since Michael Jackson's death that an artist has had 3 top 10 hits at the same time as the lead artist. - Rolling In The Deep should climb a lot next week, it got as high as #2 again on iTunes and is currently still #3. Someone Like You got back up to #4 but is holding up less well, currently #9. - Both (and SFTTR) should definitely be top 10 on Digital Songs again next week anyhow and most likely all 3 will be back in the Hot 100 top 10 (which would be the 20th week in the top 10 for both RITD and SLY) :D Someone Like You was very close to a H100 top 10 return today, going back up 22-11, while Rolling In The Deep has shot back up 44-17! - It's Rolling In The Deep's 58th week in the Hot 100, the tied 8th longest run ever. Jason Mraz's I'm Yours has the longest run with 76 weeks, following by LeAnn Rimes' How Do I Live (69), Jewel's Foolish Games (65), Carrie Underwood's Before He Cheats (64), Lifehouse's You And Me (62), Los Del Rio's Macarena and Lady Antebellum's Need You Now (60 each) and then two others on 58 (Smooth by Santana feat. Rob Thonas and How To Save A Life by The Fray). I definitely think RITD has enough life left to get to at least 5th on that list. - '19' has reached a new US peak of #9 after one day of the Grammys effect, up 103% in sales week-on-week to 36k :D Should no doubt climb even further next week. It's the first time since Justin Bieber in March 2011 that an act has had 2 albums concurrently top 10. Edited February 16, 201213 yr by Bré
February 23, 201213 yr A rather beefy US chart update (complete with big Grammy-induced increases and records): Set Fire To The Rain - Non-mover at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 again, overtaking Kelly Clarkson but Katy Perry going straight at at #1. - Non-mover at #4 on Digital Songs, sales up 36% week-on-week to 254k. - A second week at #1 on Radio Songs, up 4% to 143 million AI. 21 - 21st non-consecutive week at #1 on the Billboard 200, now making it the longest running #1 album A) by a female artist ever and B) in the SoundScan era (since 1991), overtaking Whitney Houston's 'The Bodyguard' on both counts. The joint 8th longest running #1 album of all time. - Sales up a massive 207% to 730k, by far its biggest sales week to date (over 80% more than her previous best of 399k on Christmas week). - Also the biggest sales week for any album since Lil Wayne's first week with 'Tha Carter IV' (964k) back in September. - The biggest non-opening sales week since Josh Groban's Noël on Christmas week 2007 (757k). - And the second highest sales week of the SoundScan era outside of the Christmas period and any sales in the opening month of an album; the 'Titanic' soundtrack sold 848k in a week due to Valentine's Day sales in 1998, two months into its chart run. - Eighth week in a row at #1, which as per the previous post ties the 21st century record - it's certain to take this record outright next week with early predictions of another 300k with Tyga's album being the closest challenger on only 70-80k. - The unit gain of 493k from last week is the biggest ever in the SoundScan era excluding irregular circumstances (albums from Eminem and The Notorious B.I.G. had bigger 'increases' due to charting on 'leaked' sales, while Pearl Jam's Vitalogy registered a bigger increase due to its CD being released after 2 weeks of being available only on vinyl). Other - 'Rolling In The Deep' shoots back up 7 places to #3 on Digital Songs thanks to her Grammys performance, selling 271k (up 115%). 'Someone Like You' up a place to #8 with sales up 44% week-on-week to 183k. - Both songs re-enter the Hot 100's top 10 accordingly - 'Rolling In The Deep' flies back up 17-5, giving it a 20th week in the top 10 and a 59th week in the top 100 (making it the outright eighth longest runner ever as per the last update). 'Someone Like You' climbs 11-7, also a 20th week in the top 10 and a 33rd week in the top 100. ('Set Fire To The Rain' is currently on its 9th top 10 week and 25th top 100 week). - This makes her the first female artist to ever have 3 top 10 hits at the same time as the lead artist - Ashanti has also done it, but two of the three were just featured appearances. Chris Brown was the last artist to achieve the feat and prior to that only Usher, Bee Gees and The Beatles had done it (so Adele is the fifth ever including male acts). - '19' reaches another new peak of #4, as well as getting its best sales week to date, up 144% week-on-week to 87k. - This is the first time since Nelly in 2004 (with his simultaneous release of 'Sweat' and 'Suit') that an artist has had two albums in the top four. Garth Brooks in 1992 was the last to achieve this feat with non-simultaneous releases. Michael Jackson would, however, have achieved this several times in the wake of his death had his albums not been relegated to the Catalog chart. - With '19' and '21' both in the top 5 on the BB200 and 'Set Fire To The Rain' and 'Rolling In The Deep' both being top 5 on the Hot 100, she belatedly matches what she did after the BRITs in the UK - she's not quite the first since The Beatles in the USA as 50 Cent also did this once but she's only the third artist ever to do so (and of course the first female). With a third song also in the top 10 she's the first since The Beatles to do 3 in the top 10 singles and 2 in the top 5 albums though. - 'Rumour Has It' re-enters the Hot 100 at #67. After appearing on 'The Voice' and the Glee rip-off 'Smash' it could well reach a new peak next week. Great start to its single campaign. Phew. Edited February 24, 201213 yr by Bré
February 24, 201213 yr Amazing performances by Adele and those statistics made great reading. I do suspect Adele has a few more records to break yet and in the future with 21.
