Every year I begin one of these threads, and I don't think I've finished one since 2008 (and even THEN I wrote it all at once, so it was a bit of a wet fish of a thread) - but this year, I've resolved to finish. I've got just over a month to do it, so it will HAVE to be done - and the leaking of the official compilation seems like the perfect time to begin (oh, and anybody interested in getting that - just send me a PM and I'll give you a link). So, with 43 tracks covering about 2 hours in total, it's time to start THE JUDGEMENT.

If that's SARCASM Peter I'm going to have to kick you RIGHT in the Irish Mist.

UKRAINE: Mika Newton - Angel

This seems to have been reswizzled QUITE NICELY with a few atmospheric synthy twinkles for dear Mika (is she half-English or something? I'm pretty sure Newton is NOT A UKRAINIAN SURNAME), to deliver to Ukraine (what I hope isn't becoming a habit) a nice MoR hard balladesque entry, which will probably give them a nice MoR midtable result mainly off the back of high-to-middling votes from the East and the odd low mark from your mum from the West - which is probably what they were aiming for. However, I WOULD quite like for Ukraine to, one day, consider returning to the fabulosity of the likes of DAMES LORAK, LOBODA and LYZHYCHKO. I could REALLY DO with another anthem along the lines of Be My Valentine.

Opinion: It's very much just THERE and quite pleasant for its entirety, but I can't imagine ever feeling any strong passions for this. This has 6.2/10 written ALL OVER IT.

PREDICTION: Qualify 5th-10th in SF2, finish 11th-20th in the final.

Agree with the above statement, and I'd include Dame Karol in that list.

Ruslana and Tina were my favourite entries pre and during the contest, while karoLinA and Svetlana became huge anthems to me after the contest, which, all in all, is a very huge achievement for this Eurovision nation.

To this day, though, only Loboda's highly addictive sex/iness infused track gives me the goosebumps to be the only one to scream a high pitched "WHOOOOOO!" when it comes up in any other club.

I just really wanna dance in a slutty way inside of a gigantic hamster wheel and do twists and twirls in the arms of Roman centurions. :kink:

Hey Tyron, shoot me up with that compilation link, puheeze! ;)

Regarding the download link for the compilation album, can you delete the tool-bar from the 6 minute download?

OH, I just did the slow one. I'm sure there's a way.

Loboda's anthem is my essential guide to Saturday nights. I YEARN for a day when it comes on in the club.

LATVIA: Musiqq - Angel In Disguise

I have a strong relationship of hatred with Latvia. I often used to refer to them as my least favourite Eurovision nation EVER, and in fairness, they probably still are. Montenegro were worse, but don't take part anymore, and everyone else has managed something at least amazing over the last ten years. But Latvia? No, every year without exception until 2009, they kept finding new ways for me to hate them - even when I managed to grudgingly get on board, as with Pirates of the Sea, it was still in the awareness that it was exactly the sort of thing that was ruining Eurovision, even if it WAS catchy as hell. But other than that, what was there to love? The worst winner of all time with I Wanna in 2002? Position-based success with sub-Westlife slushy fuckery in 2005? The worst song of all time (I've spent a LONG TIME thinking about this and I'm pretty certain it is) with Probka in 2009?

That was until last year. When I first heard What For? I dismissed it as yet another Latvian failure. But then it started to grow on me - I'm not quite sure what it was. Possibly the wonderfully downbeat, folky tone to it, possibly the adorably retarded lyrics (WHAT FOR, ARE WE LIVING, WHAT FOR, ARE WE DREAMING, WHAT FOR, ARE WE LOSING? ONLY MISTER GOD KNOWS WHY ought to be WINNING AWARDS), possibly the utter FAILURE of a $$$ note at the end from noted fake tanned QUEEN OF VOX Aisha, probably a mixture of them all. And my bizarre love affair with Latvia seems to be continuing for yet another year with the oddly Arabesquely named Musiqq, who are entering an R&B-tinged track with vaguely modern production and a heavily accented man half-singing about killer kisses and luscious thighs (GOOD GRIEF). It's actually quite shockingly ACCEPTABLE by Eurovision standards, meaning it's probably the best thing Latvia have ever sent. Unfortunately, I reckon the odds of success for this are undeservedly quite long - which marks it as quite the shame. The moment I started learning to love Latvia, Europe seemingly stopped. ALAS.

Opinion: One of my more FAVOURED entries of the year, I'll be shedding a single metaphorical tear when this crashes out on May 12th. / 8.6/10

Prediction: You can just tell it's going to be one of those entries that gets robbed and shoved to 12th in its semi, can't you?

Haven't heard all of the entries but this is by far my fave. The melody is incredible, one of those i hear only at nights, dunno why.

Anw, unfortunately i'm afraid your prediction is gonna be correct. Somewhere between 15th-11th i see it :(

The rest of this is IRRELEVANT. I've decided the final version of Ding Dong is my MAX TRACK OF LIFE http://www.moopy.org.uk/forums/images/icons/disco.gif
