April 6, 201114 yr La's "There She Goes" was released in 1990. As I said, it's not my opinion. Whose opinion is it then? Unless you can back it up with some evidence, I'm afraid it does look very much like your opinion and your opinion alone. Sorry if this sounds negative but that's how it seems to me. -- Richard

April 6, 201114 yr It was taken from 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Like I said. You're being very rude.
April 6, 201114 yr This idea sounds great, there were some classics that never reached number 1 or 2. My rate will still be running as well as this +10 Nirvana 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' This has to win, it is such a classic +09 R.E.M. 'Loosing My Religion' +08 Red Hot Chilli Peppers 'Under The Bridge' +07 The KLF '3am Eternal' This is a good song, but my favourite KLF song is "Doctorin' The Tardis" +06 U2 'One' +05 Guns N Roses 'Live and Let Die' +04 Tribe Called Quest 'Can I Kick It' +03 Massive Attack 'Unfinished Sympathy' Havent heard from here on, this gets the most points due to the fact Massive Attack is a lyric from a Tinie Tempah song, Written in the Stars +02 Primal Scream 'Loaded' This finishes above Metallica because I have heard 'Country Girl' by these people but have never listened to a Metallica song -01 Metallica 'Enter Sandman'

April 6, 201114 yr you should really listen to Unfinished Sympathy :o a true musical masterpiece Edited April 6, 201114 yr by chart wizard
April 6, 201114 yr I might have heard it without knowing what the song is, but I think I've never heard anything by Metallica. I'm sure R.E.M would be the 2nd most well known after Nirvana
April 6, 201114 yr I might have heard it without knowing what the song is, but I think I've never heard anything by Metallica. I'm sure R.E.M would be the 2nd most well known after Nirvana Say your prayers little one Don't forget my son To include everyone I tuck you in Warm within Keep you free from sin 'Til the sandman he comes Sleep with one eye open Gripping your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to never never-land Something's wrong, shut the light Heavy thoughts tonight And they aren't of snow white Dreams of war Dreams of lies Dreams of dragons fire And of things that will bite, yeah Sleep with one eye open Grippin' your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to never never-land (Whisper) Now I lay me down to sleep (x2) Pray the lord my soul to keep (x2) And if I die before I wake (x2) Pray the lord my soul to take (x2) Hush little baby don't say a word And never mind that noise you heard It's just the beast under your bed In your closet in your head Exit light Enter night Grain of sand Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to never never-land We're off to never never-land Take my hand We're off to never never-land Take my hand We're off to never never-land We're off to never never-land Surely you've heard this song. Also, I echo the sentiment you MUST listen to Unfinished Sympathy. Easily the best song on the list. Edited April 6, 201114 yr by Bray
April 6, 201114 yr I think the most well known in terms of airplay and polls, influence etc. would be between R.E.M, Massive Attack, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2 and Nirvana, although all really were landmarks in music Edited April 6, 201114 yr by chart wizard

April 6, 201114 yr I think Nirvana is the most influential song ever, let alone in 1991! The only reason I'm not voting is because I could never decide. There are loads of classics in here. April 6, 201114 yr From those lyrics I can say I haven't heard the Metallica song. I'm currently listening to the Massive Attack song, I thought they were a rock group but it's more electronic. The song is alright but doesnt sound like a classic or anything amazing, imo.

BTW, thanks for the feedback, I was really worried you'd think I was copying you! :) Well tbh you are copying me but it's alright because its different. I'm currently doing a rate of 90s number 2s and then next 00s number 2s. The only song here that has or will be in my rate is '3AM Eternal', so it's all good. Nirvana 'SLTS' is one of the greatest rock songs of all time yes, I can't believe it only peaked at 7, it's chart run doesnt scream 'CLASSIC' Edited April 6, 201114 yr by danielGaGa
April 6, 201114 yr 10 Primal Scream - Loaded 09 A Tribe Called Quest - Can I Kick It? 08 The KLF - 3AM Eternal 07 Massive Attack - Unfinished Sympathy 06 R.E.M. - Losing My Religion 05 Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit 04 Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge 03 U2 - One 02 Metallica - Enter Sandman -1 Guns N' Roses - Live and Let Die The top 4 are all . Everything else is significantly less good, and the bottom 3 I don't care for at all. WTF at the awful Guns N Roses cover. Out of place much.
April 6, 201114 yr How on Earth could you have not heard Enter Sandman...? I'd say it's the second most well-known of the ten behind Nirvana  Losing My Religion, One and Smells Like Teen Spirit are probably the most popular songs on the list, followed by Enter Sandman. you can hear them from commercial stations more "often" than ES.

April 6, 201114 yr It was taken from 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. Like I said. You're being very rude. Thanks. That makes it a lot clearer. If you'd said that at the start, it would have saved us all this. Still very strange to see "Live And Let Die" by G'n'R being treated as a classic. Sweet Child O'Mine - of course. Mr Brownstone - possibly. Live & Let Die - a joke in comparison to the others on the list. Best wishes on getting some meaningful results. -- Richard
April 6, 201114 yr How on Earth could you have not heard Enter Sandman...? I'd say it's the second most well-known of the ten behind Nirvana  I'm going to say that 'Rocks' will be far more known than 'Enter Sandman' yet you've not heard that! :P Edit: Not sure why I thought 'Rocks' was the Primal Scream song, maybe becase I listened to it earlier! :manson:
April 6, 201114 yr I'm going to say that 'Rocks' will be far more known than 'Enter Sandman' yet you've not heard that! :P WTF is 'Rocks'? If you're talking about the Primal Scream song, I have heard that but that's not the one on the list...
